The exclamation point, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to
the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the
literature accompanying the product.

The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert
the user to the presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage” within the product’s enclosure
that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electrical shock to persons.

SPEAKER PLACEMENT

FRONT SPEAKER PLACEMENT (DIAGRAM 1)

For best stereo imaging, the left and right speakers should be the same distance
from their respective side walls. If the distance from one speaker to the listener
is very different from the other it can affect the soundstage or stereo imaging.
Therefore, the ideal position is having the speakers equidistant to the listener.

A general guideline for speaker placement is to set up the space between speak­er and listener at approximately 1-1/2 times the distance between the speakers.
For example, if the speakers are placed a minimum of 6-feet (1.8m) apart (the
absolute minimum), the best seating position would be 9-feet (2.4m) away.

CENTER CHANNEL PLACEMENT (DIAGRAM 1)

A center channel can be expected to reproduce as much as 60% of a movie’s
soundtrack, most of which is dialogue. In order to maintain the effect of voices
emanating from the actor’s mouth, the center speaker should be centrally located
between the left and right main channels and placed above or below the televi­sion. Be sure that the center speaker’s front baffle is flush with the front face of
the television or cabinet to maximize dispersion.

INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on your purchase of ENERGY® speakers! Proprietary technol­ogy and high quality manufacturing will allow you to enjoy the most natural and
accurate music reproduction for many years. The advice offered in this manual is
aimed at helping you maximize and maintain peak performance, and therefore,
your listening satisfaction. Please take the time to read all of the instructions
contained in this manual to make certain your system is properly installed and
functioning correctly.

COMPANY BACKGROUND

ENERGY® speakers are the result of extensive research into accurate sonic
reproduction and represent the leading edge in speaker design and performance.
The finest components and cabinet materials combined with sophisticated
manufacturing and quality control procedures ensure many years of exceptional
performance and listening pleasure.

CABINET CARE

Great care and craftsmanship has gone into the construction and finish of the
cabinet. Periodically use a soft, dry cloth to remove dust or fingerprints. Do not
use paper towels or other abrasive materials as it may damage the finish.

NOTE: Please retain the carton and packing material for your ENERGY® products,
to protect them in the event of a move or if they need to be shipped to a service
center. Product received damaged by a service center that has been shipped by
the end user in other than the original packaging will be repaired, refurbished and
properly packaged for return shipment, at the end user’s expense.

SURROUND SPEAKER PLACEMENT (DIAGRAM 1)

The surround speakers can be positioned in a variety of locations. The surround
placement is usually dictated by the room, where the walls and room boundaries
happen to be, and where speaker cable can be easily run.

The most common surround speaker locations are the following:
Side walls: For best results in side wall mounting applications, position the

speakers adjacent to and slightly behind the primary listening area at a height of
approximately 6 feet.

Rear walls: For best results mounting on a rear wall, position the speakers so
they flank the main listening area and point towards the front of the room. They
should be raised to a height of approximately 6 feet and should ideally have a
space of 6 feet between them.

WALL MOUNT OPTIONS (DIAGRAM 1A)

The Take Classic system can be wall mounted using the keyhole or threaded
insert on the back. The threaded insert is an imperial 1/4-20 thread and should
be compatible with various aftermarket mounting systems.

SPEAKER CONNECTIONS

Caution: *Turn off all power in your audio/video system before proceeding with
your installation. Not doing so could result in potential damage to the system.

CONNECTING THE SPEAKERS (DIAGRAM 2)

On the rear of your ENERGY® Take Classic speakers are red and black 5-way
binding posts. Using standard speaker wire, connect the system one channel at
a time, and start your process at the receiver. Connect the speaker wire from the
positive (RED+) terminal on the receiver to the positive (RED+) terminal on the
speaker. Connect the negative (BLACK-) terminal on the receiver to the negative
(BLACK-) terminal on the speaker. Do this one channel at a time until all of your
speakers are connected properly. Be careful to correctly match positive and nega­tive, as well as the correct speaker to the correct channel.

NOTE: If you inadvertently reverse one of the connections (i.e, red to black), you
will notice a severe lack of bass from your system. This is called wiring the system
“Out of Phase”. If this occurs, check the wiring and re-connect as necessary.

RECOMMENDATIONS

RECEIVER SETTINGS

The recommended setting for the front, rear and center speakers is the “small”
position.

AMPLIFIER REQUIREMENTS

All ENERGY Speakers are designed to operate on a wide range of receivers and/
or amplifiers. The impedance for all models is rated at 8 ohms, allowing almost
any amplifier to function well. Of course, the better the amplifier and the system
components, the better the overall system will sound.

Warning: If an amplifier or receiver is over-driven, the resulting distortion is actu­ally many times greater than its rated power. Over-driven amplifier distortion is
called “Clipping”, easily identified by its fuzzy, distorted sound, and can damage
any speaker. The volume control of most amplifiers and receivers is a logarithmic
type, which means that full power may be reached with the volume control set
at as little as the halfway point. Operating the loudness, treble, or bass controls
increases power output well beyond rated levels. The warranty on your speakers
is therefore void if the voice coils are burned or damaged as a result of overpow­ering or clipping.

WARRANTY – U.S. AND CANADA

Klipsch Group, Inc. (“KGI”) warrants to the original retail purchaser that this
product is to be free from defective materials and workmanship for a period of
five (5) years from the date of purchase, if it is properly used and maintained.
If this product proves defective in either material or workmanship, KGI, at its
option, will (a) repair the product, or (b) replace the product, at no charge for
parts or labor. If the product model is no longer available and cannot be re­paired effectively or replaced with an identical model, KGI at its sole option may
replace the unit with a current model of equal or greater value. In some cases,
modification to the mounting surface may be required where a new model is
substituted. KGI assumes no responsibility or liability for such modification. To
obtain a repair or replacement under the terms of this warranty, please return
to dealer first, if possible, and they will direct you accordingly for repairs or
replacement. You will be required to submit a copy of the original receipt.

Limitations:

• This limited warranty does not cover failure of the product resulting from

improper installation, misuse, abuse, accident, neglect, mishandling or
wear from ordinary use or environmental deterioration.

• This limited warranty does not cover cosmetic damage, including paint

damage, or consequential damage to other components or premises
which may result for any reason from the failure of the product.

• This limited warranty is null and void for products not used in accordance

with KGI’s instructions.

• This limited warranty is null and void for products with altered or missing

serial numbers and for products not purchased from an authorized dealer.

• This limited warranty terminates if you sell or otherwise transfer this

product to another party.

manuel vous aideront à obtenir et à maintenir un rendement optimal et, par
conséquent, une entière satisfaction. Veuillez donc lire attentivement toutes les
instructions pour vous assurer que vos enceintes sont installées de la manière
appropriée et qu’elles fonctionnent correctement.

ENTRETIEN DU COFFRET

Toute une somme d’expertise et de soins a présidé à la construction et à la
finition des coffrets de vos enceintes. Essuyez-les régulièrement avec un chif­fon doux et sec pour éliminer la poussière et les marques de doigts. Évitez les
essuie-tout en papier et les produits abrasifs - ils pourraient abîmer le fini.

NOTA : Conservez le carton et les matières d’emballage en vue de protéger
les enceintes dans l’éventualité où il deviendrait nécessaire de les expédier
à un centre de service pour fins de réparation. Tout appareil qui est expédié
par l’utilisateur dans un emballage autre que celui d’origine et qui serait reçu
endommagé, sera réparé, remis en état et emballé pour expédition aux frais de
l’utilisateur.

POSITIONNEMENT DES ENCEINTES

ENCEINTES AVANT (FIGURE 1)

Pour obtenir la meilleure image stéréo, placez les enceintes de droite et de
gauche à égale distance des murs latéraux. Par ailleurs, un écart important
entre l’espace séparant la position d’écoute et chacune des enceintes pourrait
déformer le paysage sonore et l’image stéréo. En conséquence, nous recom­mandons de positionner les enceintes à une distance équivalente de la position
d’écoute.

En règle générale, la distance entre les enceintes et la position d’écoute devrait
être de 1,5 fois la distance entre les enceintes elles-mêmes. Par exemple, si
les enceintes sont à 1,8 m (6 pi) l’une de l’autre (distance minimale absolue), la
meilleure position d’écoute serait à 2,4 m (9 pi) de chacune d’elles.

ENCEINTE CANAL CENTRE (FIGURE 1)

En général, près de 60% de la bande son des films – surtout les dialogues –
transitent par le canal centre. Pour maintenir l’illusion que les voix proviennent
de la bouche des comédiens, l’enceinte de canal centre devrait être placée à
égale distance des canaux principaux de droite et de gauche, au-dessus ou
au-dessous du téléviseur. Alignez le baffle avant de l’enceinte M-C avec l’écran
du téléviseur ou le boîtier, pour optimiser le rayonnement.

ENCEINTES AMBIOPHONIQUES (FIGURE 1)

Les enceintes ambiophoniques peuvent être disposés à différents endroits dans
la pièce d’écoute. Leur positionnement est généralement fonction des caracté­ristiques de la pièce, c’est-à-dire tant ses dimensions que l’endroit par où il est
possible de faire passer les câbles.

BREF HISTORIQUE DE L’ENTREPRISE

Les enceintes ENERGY® sont le résultat de recherches poussées dans les

conception et de rendement des haut-parleurs. Les composants et les maté­riaux de la meilleure qualité, de pair avec les techniques de fabrication et de
contrôle de qualité les plus évoluées qui soient, sont garants de longues années
de performance exceptionnelle et de plaisir musical.

Les positionnements les plus courants sont les suivants.
Murs latéraux : Afin d’étendre au maximum le champ ambiophonique, placez

les enceintes de chaque côté et légèrement en retrait de la principale position
d’écoute, à une hauteur d’environ 1,8 m (6 pi).

Mur arrière : Pour maximiser le champ ambiophonique, orientez les enceintes
vers la position d’écoute principale, mais pas trop directement. Elles devraient
être à une hauteur d’environ 1,8 m (6 pi) et, idéalement, à une distance de 1,8
m (6 pi) l’une de l’autre.

OPTIONS DE MONTAGE MURAL (FIGURE 1A)

Les enceintes Take Classic peuvent être montées au mur au moyen soit du trou
en poire soit de la douille filetée sur le panneau arrière. La douille filetée est
composée d’un filetage impérial 1/4-20 compatible avec plusieurs systèmes de
montage de rechange vendus dans le commerce.
