Subject: How to repair the Video P. W. Board. (Feedback information from
the failure analysis results).
Symptom: 1) The Video signal from the Component Video terminal is unusual
though the Video signal from the HDMI terminal is normal.
2) Only the Video signal from the HDMI terminal is unusual though the Video
signal from the DVI terminal is normal.
3) Malfunction of other images.
4) Symptom of the failure is not reproducible.
The following are the analysis method of failures of the specific video series and
the repairing method of the Video P. W. Board, based on the analysis result of
defective Video P. W. Boards that are used to the subject models in the market.
When a video related failure occurs and if the symptom agreed with the following
phenomena, please analyze and repair the defective portion in accordance with
the following procedures, without replacing the Video P. W. Board.
Solution: Please refer to the following page s and specify the point of the
failure. If you could determine the point of the failure, please replace the part and
repair the failure.
1) In the case that the Video signal from the Component Video terminal is
unusual though the Video signal from the HDMI terminal is normal;
(1) At the Component Output, check whether the same phenomenon appears or
not on the Pin Jack and BNC. If the phenomena are the same, go to the clause
1)-(2). If the phenomena differs check whether the terminal itself is faulty or not.

(2) Confirm each terminal of Y, Pb/Cb and Pr/Cr, and check which terminal is not
outputting the signal.
Test Disc: Reproduce the Title-12 of DVDT-S01 or the Title-3 (Color Burst) of
TDV-520A.
(3) Select "COMPONENT VIDEO OUT" from "PROGRESSIVE (Factory default)"
to "INTERLACED" on VIDEO SETUP mode.
(4) Remove "GU-3657" and check below each Pin number of IC on GU-3654-1.
• When the signal output is not present at the Y terminal: Check signals on the
Pin #10 and Pin #15 of the IC202. (Fig. V3 waveform)
• When the signal output is not present from the Pb/Cb terminal: Check signals
on the Pin #10 and Pin #15 of the IC203. (Fig. V4 waveform)
• When the signal output is not present from the Pr/Cr terminal: Check signals on
the Pin #10 and Pin #15 of the IC204. (Fig. V5 waveform) Please replace the IC
if the waveform of signal of each IC is unusual. (Each waveform is as follows.
Refer to the page 138 in the Service Manual for more details.)
• When you remove "GU-3657", time scale is a little bit different, please check
only the voltage and waveform.
