Subject: 1) Countermeasure for malfunctions that are related to the software
such as malfunction upon playing back CDDA after the programming.
2) Improvement in HDMI.
Symptom: 1) Malfunction upon playing back CDDA after the programming:
When Tracks #1 and #10 on a CDDA on which 10 tracks have been recorded
were programmed to be played, the unit reproduces Track #2 and subsequent
Tracks after playing back Track #1, without playing back Track #10, while
indicating Track #1 on the Display.
2) Malfunction upon playback of a particular Disc "River dance (PAL)". The
sound interruption occurs upon playback of the disc after converting PAL to
NTSC.
3) Malfunction upon playing back a particular Disc "Raging Bull". When playing
back this Disc, the video in this volume is not played back normally.
4) Improvement in the performance in HDMI connection. (Improved by Designing
Department.)
(1) The unit is incapable of operating properly after a TV/Projector that is
equipped with a particular HDMI (multiple HDMI Input signals are applicable) is
connected via the HDMI connection.
(2) The unit is incapable of operating properly after a TV/Projector that is
equipped with a particular HDMI (The device whose EDID ROM is larger than
256-byte) is connected via the HDMI connection.
Solution:
no malfunction occurs.

2) The item #4) (HDMI connection): We have improved the control software for
reading the EDID ROM.
MODIFICATION: (Upon claim, and the refurbishment of the unit.) Record the
System MICON and Back-end ROM files onto blank CD-R Discs individually and
separately to upgrade the unit.
Supplied Program Files:
• For the System Firmware of the model DVD-5910:
• For the ESS Firmware of the model DVD-5910:
Note:
• Do not upgrade DENON Link 3rd version DVD-5910 by this ESS Firmware.
• When recording the above program files on CD-R Disc, the format shall be
"ISO9660" and the Session shall be "CLOSE".
• When recording the file on the CD-R, please record it at the 4-times speed of
the normal speed. If the 4 times speed was not available, please record it at the
minimum speed that is available on your machine.
• If the file was recorded at a high speed, such as 32 or 48 times speed of the
normal speed, the upgrading may fail due to the data incorrectly recorded on the
CD-R.
The rewriting procedures of the System MICON:
1) Connect the Image Output Terminal (VIDEO OUT or S-VIDEO OUT) of the
above unit to a TV.
2) Turn on the Power of the unit. Open the Disc Tray and set the recorded CD-R
for rewriting the System MICON to the Disc Tray.
3) Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button.
• After indicating "LOADING" on the FL Display, the Power of the unit turns off
once and turns it on again.
• After indicating "WRITING" on the FL Display, "COMPLETE" appears on the FL
Display and the rewriting operation completes.
