Getting Started
Using the HD RadioTMreceiver
HD Radio technology provides higher quality sound than conventional broadcasts and allows reception of data services.
• FM sounds as sensational as CDs
• AM sounds as rich as analog FM stereo
•A variety of “data services”, including text-based information­song title, artist name, album name, genre, etc.
Furthermore, in addition to conventional broadcasts, with HD Radio broadcasting it is possible to choose from up to 8 multicast programs. For detailed information on HD Radio technology, please go to “www.ibiquity.com”.
About the remote control unit
The procedure for inserting the batteries and the operating range of the ZONE remote control unit (RC-1066) are the same as for the ZONE remote control (RC-1056) unit included with the set. For details, see page 2 of the included operating instructions.

Operation
Listening to the HD RadioTMbroadcasting
Press ENTER.
• The unit automatically begins searching for FM broadcast stations.
When the first FM broadcast station is found, that station is stored in the auto preset memory at channel A1. Subsequent stations are automatically stored in order at preset channels A1 to A8, B1 to B8, C1 to C8, D1 to D8, E1 to E8, F1 to F8 and G1 to G8 for a maximum of 56 stations. Channel A1 is tuned in after the HD Radio auto preset memory operation is completed.
HD Radio auto preset memory
This unit is equipped with a function for automatically searching for FM broadcast stations and storing them in the HD Radio preset memory.
Use FUNCTION, press TUNER (RC-1052) or HD
RADIO
(RC-1066) to select “HD RADIO”.

Press MENU.
• “Auto Preset” is displayed.

• If an FM station cannot be preset automatically due to poor reception, use the “HD Radio manual tuning” operation to tune in the station, then preset it using the manual “HD Radio Preset memory” operation.
•To interrupt this function, press<ON/STANDBY>.

Use FUNCTION, press TUNER (RC-1052) or HD
RADIO
(RC-1066) to select “HD RADIO”.

Press MODE to select “HD Auto” or “Auto”.
• The “DIG.” indicator lights when an HD Radio broadcast is tuned in.
• HD Auto: Auto tuning stops when an HD Radio program only
is tuned in.
• Auto: Auto tuning stops when an HD Radio or analog
program is tuned in.
Press TUNING.
• Automatic searching begins.
• If tuning does not stop at the desired station, use to the “HD Radio manual tuning” operation.
Use FUNCTION, press TUNER (RC-1052) or HD
RADIO
(RC-1066) to select “HD RADIO”.
Press MODE to select “Manual”.
Press BAND to select “FM” or “AM”.
Press BAND to select “FM” or “AM”.
Press TUNING.
The frequency changes continuously when the button is held in.

Use the “HD Radio auto tuning” or “HD Radio manual tuning” operation to tune in the station to be preset in the memory.

• Store the station in the HD Radio preset memory.

•To preset other channels, repeat steps 2 to 5. A total of 56 broadcast stations can be preset — 8 stations (channels 1 to 8) in each of blocks A to G.
Selecting HD Radio audio programs
There are nine audio programs (HD1 to HD8 and Analog) for the HD Radio. There are also data programs for each program.
Press SEARCH or [
DD HH
] to select programs.
The reception channel switches each time a button is pressed. When there are multiple audio programs for the selected channel, “HD1” appears on the display. “HD” is displayed if there is only one audio program.
Switching HD information display
Use the procedure described at “HD Radio auto tuning”, “HD Radio manual tuning” or “Recalling HD Radio preset stations” to tune in a frequency with an HD Radio station.
Press STATUS to switch the HD Radio reception information.
