First use
Cleaning the interior
Before using the appliance for the first time, wash the interior and all internal accessories with lukewarm water and some neutral soap so as to remove the typical smell of a brandnew product, then dry thoroughly.
Daily use
Freezing fresh food
The freezer compartment is suitable for freezing fresh food and storing frozen and deep-frozen food for a long time. To freeze fresh food activate the Auto Freeze function at least 24 hours before placing the foo d t o b e fr oz en in the freezer compartment. Place the fresh food to be frozen in the two top compartments. The maximum amount of food that can be frozen in 24 hours is specified on the rating plate , a label located on the inside of the appliance. The freezing process lasts 24 hours: during this period do not add other food to be frozen.
Storage of frozen food
When first starting-up or after a period out of use, before putting the products in the compartment let the appliance run at least 2 hours on the higher settings.
Important! In the event of accidental defrosting, for example due to a power
partment flashes on the Temperature indicator . If the power has been off for a long time, frozen food should be consumed as quickly as possible, or cooked and then re-frozen.
Door open alarm
If the door remains open for a few minutes, the Alarm light will flash and an alarm will sound.

failure, if the power has been off for longer than the value shown in the technical characteristics chart under "rising time", the defrosted food must be consumed quickly or cooked immediately and then re-frozen (after cooling).
Ice-cube production
This appliance is equipped with one or more trays for the production of ice-cubes. Fill these trays with water, then put them in the freezer compartment.
Important! Do not use metallic instruments to remove the trays from the freezer.
Freezing Calendar
The symbols show different types of frozen goods. The numbers indicate storage times in months for the appropriate types of frozen goods. Whether the upper or lower value of
Page 8

the indicated storage time is valid depends on the quality of the foods and treating before freezing.
Cold accumulators
The freezer contains at least one cold accumulator which increases storage time in the event of a power cut or breakdown.
Thawing
Deep-frozen or frozen food, prior to being used, can be thawed in the refrigerator compartment or at room temperature, depending on the time available for this operation. Small pieces may even be cooked still frozen, directly from the freezer: in this case, cooking will take longer.
Movable shelves
The walls of the refrigerator are equipped with a series of runners so that the shelves can be positioned as desired. For better use of space, the front half-shelves can lie over the rear ones.
Important! this appliance is sold in France. In accordance with regulations valid in this country it must be provided with a special device (see figure) placed in the lower compartment of the fridge to indicate the coldest zone of it.
Positioning the door shelves
To permit storage of food packages of various sizes, the door shelves can be placed at different heights. To make these adjustments proceed as follows: gradually pull the shelf in the direction of the arrows until it comes free, then reposition as required.
Temperature indicator
To assist you in controlling your appliance correctly we have fitted a temperature indicator to your refrigerator, placed in the coldest area.
The coldest area of the refrigerator compartment is at the level of the lower glass shelf.
The symbol opposite shows the location of the coldest area of your refrigerator.
The space directly above the glass shelf of the fruit and vegetable drawer is the coldest

region of the refrigerator compartment as shown by the shelf or the sticker on the wall of your appliance. For proper storage of the food in your refrigerator and particularly in the coldest area, ensure that the temperature indicator is displaying “OK”. If “OK” is not displayed, the average temperature in the area is too high. Adjust the temperature controller to a colder setting. Since the “OK” display is in black, it is difficult to see if the temperature indicator is poorly illuminated. Correct illumination makes it easy to read. Each time the temperature controller is adjusted, wait for the temperature inside the appliance to stabilise before checking whether another adjustment is required. Only adjust the controller gradually and wait at least 12 hours before checking and perhaps adjusting it again.
Important! After putting fresh food into the appliance or after opening the door repeatedly or for a long period, it is normal for the indicator not to show “OK”; wait at least 12 hours before readjusting the temperature controller.
If the evaporator of the refrigeration compartment (wall at the bottom of the appliance) has an abnormal covering of ice (appliance too full, high ambient temperature, thermostat too high, frequent door opening), gradually move the thermostat control to a lower setting until there are once more periods when the compressor stops. The automatic defrosting of the refrigerator compartment will not work correctly unless the compressor stops from time to time.

Air cooling
The Dynamic Air Cooling (DAC) fan let food cool quickly and a more uniform temperature in the compartment.
1. You can switch on the fan by pressing the
switch (1). The green light (2) comes on.
2. Adjust the Temperature regulator to the
FAN position.

Bottom Compartment:
The temperature can be adjusted between + 12 and + 18°C.This compartment is ideal for storing and refining red or white wines for long periods. The temperatures of this compartment are suitable for storing aged and full-bodied wines. Lay the bottles down in such a way that the corks do not dry. Keep the wine in the dark. The oven door is in anti-UV darkened double glass to protect the wine from the light in case the refrigerator is located in a well-lit place. Avoid switching the appliance light on too often or for too long.Wine keeps better in the dark. Handle the bottles with care, to avoid agitating the wine. Follow the recommendations and advice received at the time of purchase or given in the technical documentation regarding the quality, duration and optimum storage temperature of the wine.
Recommended storage temperatures:
• For champagne and sparkling wines, between 6 and 8°C
• For white wines, between 10 and 12°C
• For rose’ and light red wines, between 12 and 16°C
• Aged red wines, 14 -16°C
When placing various bottles on top of each other, make sure they do not touch the refrigerator cooling plate.
Wine Cooler shelves
The shelves can be removed for cleaning.
Storage advice
The storage time for wine depends on ageing, the type of grapes, alcoholic content and level of fructose and tannin contained in it.At the time of purchase, check if the wine is already aged or if it will improve over time.
Wine Cooler Bottle Holder
Remove the shelf and insert it between the two guides The refrigerator compartment has a special. The maximum possible weight on the bottle shelves is 30 kg.

Air circulation
The refrigerator compartment has a special AIRLIGHT fan which is automatically activated in function of the appliance thermostat setting and ambient conditions.
Helpful hints and tips
Hints for energy saving
• Do not open the door frequently or leave it open longer than absolutely necessary.
• If the ambient temperature is high and the Temperature Regulator is set to low temperature and the appliance is fully loaded, the compressor may run continuously, causing frost or ice on the evaporator. If this happens, set the Temperature Regulator toward warmer settings to allow automatic defrosting and so a saving in electricity consumption.
Hints for fresh food refrigeration
To obtain the best performance:
• do not store warm food or evaporating liquids in the refrigerator
• do cover or wrap the food, particularly if it has a strong flavour
• position food so that air can circulate freely around it
Hints for refrigeration
Useful hints: Meat (all types) : wrap in polythene bags and place on the glass shelf above the vegetable drawer. For safety, store in this way only one or two days at the most.
Page 12
12
Cooked foods, cold dishes, etc..: these should be covered and may be placed on any shelf. Fruit and vegetables: these should be thoroughly cleaned and placed in the special drawer(s) provided. Butter and cheese: these should be placed in special airtight containers or wrapped in aluminium foil or polythene bags to exclude as much air as possible. Milk bottles: these should have a cap and should be stored in the bottle rack on the door. Bananas, potatoes, onions and garlic, if not packed, must not be kept in the refrigerator.
Hints for freezing
To help you make the most of the freezing process, here are some important hints:
• the maximum quantity of food which can be frozen in 24 hrs. is shown on the rating plate;
• the freezing process takes 24 hours. No further food to be frozen should be added during this period;
• only freeze top quality, fresh and thoroughly cleaned, foodstuffs;
• prepare food in small portions to enable it to be rapidly and completely frozen and to make it possible subsequently to thaw only the quantity required;
• wrap up the food in aluminium foil or polythene and make sure that the packages are airtight;
• do not allow fresh, unfrozen food to touch food which is already frozen, thus avoiding a rise in temperature of the latter;
• lean foods store better and longer than fatty ones; salt reduces the storage life of food;
• water ices, if consumed immediately after removal from the freezer compartment, can possibly cause the skin to be freeze burnt;
• it is advisable to show the freezing in date on each individual pack to enable you to keep tab of the storage time.
Hints for storage of frozen food
To obtain the best performance from this appliance, you should:
• make sure that the commercially frozen foodstuffs were adequately stored by the retailer;
• be sure that frozen foodstuffs are transferred from the foodstore to the freezer in the shortest possible time;
• not open the door frequently or leave it open longer than absolutely necessary.
• Once defrosted, food deteriorates rapidly and cannot be refrozen.
• Do not exceed the storage period indicated by the food manufacturer.
Care and cleaning
Caution! Unplug the appliance before carrying out any maintenance operation.
This appliance contains hydrocarbons in its cooling unit; maintenance and recharging must therefore only be carried out by authorized technicians.
Periodic cleaning
The equipment has to be cleaned regularly:
• clean the inside and accessories with lukewarm water and some neutral soap.
• regularly check the door seals and wipe clean to ensure they are clean and free from debris.
• rinse and dry thoroughly.
Important! Do not pull, move or damage any pipes and/or cables inside the cabinet. Never use detergents, abrasive powders, highly perfumed cleaning products or wax polishes to clean the interior as this will damage the surface and leave a strong odour.
Clean the condenser (black grill) and the compressor at the back of the appliance with a brush or a vacuum cleaner. This operation will improve the performance of the appliance and save electricity consumption.
Important! Take care of not to damage the cooling system.
Many proprietary kitchen surface cleaners contain chemicals that can attack/damage
Page 13

the plastics used in this appliance. For this reason it is recommended that the outer casing of this appliance is only cleaned with warm water with a little washing-up liquid added. After cleaning, reconnect the equipment to the mains supply.
Defrosting of the refrigerator
Frost is automatically eliminated from the evaporator of the refrigerator compartment every time the motor compressor stops, during normal use. The defrost water drains out through a trough into a special container at the back of the appliance, over the motor compressor, where it evaporates. It is important to periodically clean the defrost water drain hole in the middle of the refrigerator compartment channel to prevent the water overflowing and dripping onto the food inside. Use the special cleaner provided, which you will find already inserted into the drain hole.
Defrosting of the freezer
The freezer compartment of this model, on the other hand, is a "no frost" type. This means that there is no buildup of frost when it is in operation, neither on the internal walls nor on the foods. The absence of frost is due to the continuous circulation of cold air inside the compartment, driven by an automatically controlled fan.
Periods of non-operation
When the appliance is not in use for long periods, take the following precautions:
disconnect the appliance from elec-
tricity supply
• remove all food defrost
