UPPER FEEDER ASSEMBLY
Counterme asures to prevent the upper feeder assembly o f the Finisher D1 fro m opening on impact
To communicate countermeasures (in connection with servicing the machine) to be taken for the possibility of the upper feeder assembly opening when the upper part of the Finisher receives an impact (for example, when arranging sheets of copy papers)
<Symptom> The upper feede r assembly sometimes opens when the user a rranges eje cted sheets of pape rs on the feeder assembly on top of the Finisher.
<Cause> The upper feeder assembly is held to the plate at the front o f the feeder assembly by 4 magnets, but the 2 magnet s on the inner side float up due to poor mo l ding procedure of the par t into shape, and t he cover opens due to insufficient magnet strength.

<Factory measure> A check l ist at the source manufact urer for t he upper cove r has been expande d for rechecking of the mold finish and whether the shape is free from faults.
<Affected machines> From NLF00198 to NLF00229 Fr om ULF00048 to ULF00540
<Locating precisely where the problem occurs> (Fig. 1) Because of some faults with the shape of the upper feeder assembly, two of t he shaded areas (out of the four locations for the magnet catches) make contact first, causing a difference of approx. 0.25 to 0.5mm. This results in weaker contact for the other two areas, and the problem of upper feeder assembly to open from receiving an impact.
These areas make contact first.

< Procedure for rechecking and implementing countermeasures >
1) Remove the upper rear cover (2 scr e ws).
(Fig. 2)
2) Open the front door.
3) Remove the upper feede r assembly.
a) Open the upper feeder assembly, a nd
remove 1 screw from the inner side. (Fig. 3)

b) Close the uppe r feeder assembly, a nd
remove 2 screws from the rear side. (Fig. 4)

4) Replace the upper cover of the upper feeder assembly. (See Parts Catalog FY8-31E2-000
P.T35-1.)
5) Set the upper feeder assembly in place and secure it by tightening 2 screws at the rear.
6) Tighte n 1 screw in the inner side of the uppe r feeder assembly .
7) Tighte n the 2 upper rear cover screws.
8) Close the front door.
