To make sure printing ability of each product, and to share the information on euro printing.
2. Background
2.1 Introduction of euro symbol
Euro currency is effective in European Union since January 1999, and character symbol is also
introduced. Computer software, hardware and fonts vendors including Microsoft are providing a
way to adapt to the new environment.
2.2 Customer’s requirement
Introducing above currency and its symbol, there are more and more chance to use the symbol,
and the customer’s expectation of print ability is getting stronger.
2.3 Product design
The original design of Canon’s current product was not considered regarding the euro symbol
unfortunately, so Canon needs some action if necessary.
3. Test Method
3.1 Preperation
Office97 (Word97, Excel97, PowerPoint97) is used for this test.
3.2 Create documents
Create documents with text of Times New Roman, Arial, and Courier New, which are provided
as Euro patch font file from Microsoft.
3.3 Print documents
Print documents with default setting of the printer driver at first.
When we can not get correct print result, then try to change printer driver setting till getting the
correct print result.
Above three fonts and four styles (regular, bold, italic and bold italic) are all verified. But the
report shows only fonts name and not styles, because there is no difference of print result
among four styles.
