1. Outline

Here is information regarding the release of Network Multi PDL Printer Board-D1 and Network
Printer Board-E1 (GP PSPCL-D1/E1) Version 1.1/1.11.

2. Details
(2.1) Changes on Specification from V1.0 to V1.1/V1.11

(2.1.1) NetSpot supported (NetSpot 2.4 in Europe/ Asia and 2.5 in North America).
(2.1.2) Canon GUI is employed for User Interface of PCL Driver for Windows 95/NT4.0.
(2.1.3) Shifting the paper source for the first page is enabled within one job.
(2.1.4) Auto Configuration is supported in the printer driver.
(2.1.5) The installation method of the printer driver is changed from INF file format to

Installer program.

(2.2) Program Modifications from V1.0 to V1.1/1.11

(2.2.1) “Output Bin” is selectable in [Copier Setup] on GP-D1/E1 on GP with Multi Tray-3.
(2.2.2) When PCL printing only is set on GP-D1 or GP-E1, even if Tabloid/A3 is specified in

Job page size of [Job Log Setup], the data is printed out on Letter/A4.

(2.2.3) Up to Paper Tray 6 can be selected in Windows NT4.0 PCL driver, whether there is

Lower Cassette or not.

(2.2.4) If print image fax is executed with 600dpi set for resolution and Yes for Cover sheet

in Windows95 PCL driver, space between lines on the fax image turn i mproper.

->The latest driver automatically changes the resolution to 300dpi when print image
fax is selected.

(2.2.5) Stapling Document, A4, 2-sided, reverse page order, is only correct if “Face Down”

is selected. (Complaint from Canon DEU).

(2.2.6) Print the first page from a paper cassette, then the rest of the document from a

different cassette, the output is sent to separate bins. (Complaint from Canon DEU).

(2.2.7) Sending Fax without recipient is possible, and gives error messages on the GP

(Complaint from Canon DEU).

(2.2.8) German Umlautes are not printed on a fax coversheet. (Complaint from Canon

DEU).

(2.2.9) Bitmap images on a fax coversheet are greatly enlarged. (Complaint from Canon

DEU).

(2.2.10) Winword document – Ariel true type font. In certain cases, Letters are printed on

top of each other. (Complaint from Canon DEU).

(2.2.11) Date and time on a fax coversheet are printed in a mixed sequence. (Complaint

from Canon DEU).

(2.2.12) Duplex printing is permitted when “Transparency” media is selected. (Complaint

from Canon DEU).

(2.2.13) AUI port sometimes does not work correctly.

(2.3) Known Bugs

(2.3.1) [NT4 PS and PCL Driver] Point and Print does not work correctly.

(2.3.2) [All Printer Driver] Setup program of GP-D1/E1 printer driver cannot select

the network port.

(2.3.3) [All Printer Driver] All Drivers do not remember the user’s cover sheet

information.
(2.3.4) [All Printer Driver] Cannot enter a manual recipient in the send fax dialogue.
(2.3.5) [NT4 PCL DRIVER] Virtual memory runs low when using the driver from

Windows NT4.0.
(2.3.6) [NT4 PCL Driver] Cannot print landscape when two copies of the NT driver

are installed.
(2.3.7) [NT4 PCL Driver] Slovenian special characters cannot print correctly.
(2.3.8) [NT4 PS Driver] Unable to print image fax through Netware and SMB.
(2.3.9) [All Printer Driver] Cannot cancel a fax job.
(2.3.10) [NT4 PCL Driver] The euro currency symbol does not print correctly.
(2.3.11) [NT4 PCL Driver] The PCL Driver V1.1 does not follow the NT standard.

*Problems (2.3.1) through (2.3.9) will be fixed in V1.2 (to be released in December,

1998).
*Problems (2.3.10) through (2.3.11) will be fixed in the PCL printer driver maintenance
release (1

or 2nd quarter of 1999?).

3. Procedure for Updating

Upgrading of Boot ROM and System Software should be conducted in the following procedures.
When you upgrade the system software, make sure to format HDD.

Note:
Operations are possible with v49.02 or later IP version of GP200/215, however, the following
problems are existing. (modified in the latest IP).

-If 41 or more two-sided copies of A4/LTR are directed to the sort bins, a jam tends to occur in
the duplexing unit after generating 20 copies.

-If a fax file containing data equivalent of 150 pages or more is handled, a system down tends
to occur.

-If a pick-up jam occurs as a result of copying operation in a copier/printer combination, the
printer fails to turn off the message “Unknown Copies” after recovery.

-If the paper delivery jam occurs at the last page when duplex-printing of pages exceeding
the maximum load of the duplexing unit is executed, the printer does not recover.
