The combined weight of the battery box with a maximum of four batteries can be as much as
140 lb (63.5 kg). Select a mounting location and mounting hardware sufficient to support the
weight of the battery box and batteries.
Description
The BATB‑40 Battery Box houses two 12 V batteries and can house two additional batteries by
attaching the optional BATB‑SHELF. The BATB‑80, which includes the BATB‑40 and the
BATB‑SHELF, holds four batteries.
These batteries can be of the following types:
–Gel-cell
–Nicad
–Sealed Lead-acid
–Wet-cell
The following Bosch Security Systems, Inc. batteries will fit inside these battery boxes:
–D126 12 V, 7 Ah Battery
–D1213 12 V, 1.3 Ah Battery
–D1218 12 V, 18 Ah Battery
–D1222 12 V, 2.2 Ah Battery
–D1224 12 V, 24 Ah Battery
–D1238 12 V, 38 Ah Battery
–D1240 12 V, 4 Ah Battery
–D1250 12 V, 5 Ah Battery

When using more than one battery in a battery box, each battery must be of the same voltage,

Installation
Mounting the Battery Box
Before installing the enclosure:
–Determine the total weight of the enclosure with the modules and batteries to be
installed. Choose a mounting location and surface that can support this weight, and
select appropriate mounting hardware.
–Ensure that the environmental conditions of the mounting location comply with the
technical specifications listed.
–Ensure that there is sufficient room to open the cabinet door fully, and to easily install,
wire and maintain the components within the enclosure.
Once a suitable mounting location is selected and prepared:
–Remove the door from the battery box by lifting the door up and off the hinges.
–On the mounting surface, mark the location of the three mounting holes at the top of the
battery box.
–Partially drill the marked holes in the mounting surface.

–Using appropriate hardware, attach the battery box to the mounting surface.
–When mounting the battery box to wooden studs, use lag bolts.
–When mounting the battery box to cement, use concrete anchors.
–After the box is fastened at the top, partially drill the two holes at the bottom of the
battery box and attach the box to the mounting surface using the appropriate hardware.
–Attach the door by sliding it down over the hinges.
–Remove the lockset knockout from the front door and attach the cabinet lock.

Mounting the Battery Shelf
–Mount the battery shelf to the metal stand-offs. Mounting the shelf at this height clears
the lock assembly located on the door.
–Partially attach the four supplied screws in the battery shelf mounting holes.
–After all four screws are partly inserted, hang the shelf by the mounting holes on the
metal screws.
–Tighten the metal screws to secure the shelf to the battery box.
