ThecameraattachesaparticularVLANtagtoallitsforwardedmulticastpackages.Themediaconverterswitchmanageshowthese
multicastpackagesareforwardedbetweencameras,mediaconverterswitchesandothernetworkdevices.Thisespeciallyusefulwhen
connectingthecameraandmediaconverterswitchtothenetworkinadaisychain.

Bychangingthepositionofthedipswitches,eachnetworkconnectorportinthemediaconverterswitchcanbecongured
tomanagemulticastsinthreedifferentways.

ThebitratecanbesetasVariableBitRate(VBR)orConstantBitRate(CBR).VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtotheimage
complexity,usingupmorebandwidthforincreasedactivityintheimage,andlessforlowerimageactivity.CBRallowsyoutoseta
xedTargetbitratethatconsumesapredictableamountofbandwidth.Asthebitratewouldusuallyneedtoincreaseforincreased

TheActiveGatekeepermonitorsanareasuchasanentrancegate.Whenmotionisdetectedinthemonitoredarea,theGatekeeper
will,dependingonconguration,steerthecameratoaselectedpresetpositionorstartautotrackingfromaselectedpresetposition.
Usingazoomed-inpresetpositioncanmakeitpossibleto,forexample,readalicenseplateoridentifyaperson.Whenmotion
isnolongerdetected,thecamerareturnstoitsHomepositionafteradenedtime.

ToenabletheGatekeeper,gotoPTZ>Gatekeeperandfollowtheonlineinstructions.

Itisalsopossibleto,forexample,recordvideoorsaveimages(takeasnapshot)whiletheGatekeeperisactive.GotoEventsandset

Autotracking

TheAxisproductcandetectmovementintheeldofview,forexampleamovingvehicleorperson.Ifautotrackingisenabled,the
Axisproductwillautomaticallypanandtilttofollowthemovingobject.Incasethereismuchsimultaneousmovement,theareawith
themostmovementwillbefollowed.Autotrackingcontinuesuntilthemovingobjectstopsordisappearsfromthemonitoredarea.
Movementinareasblockedbyprivacymasksandinexcludeareasdoesnottriggerautotracking.

ItisstronglyrecommendedtoenablethePTZControlQueueifautotrackingandguardtourareenabledsimultaneously.InthePTZ
ControlQueue,guardtourhaslowerprioritythanautotracking,soautotrackingwillnotbeabandonedtostartaguardtour.

devices.IEEE802.1XisbasedonEAP(ExtensibleAuthenticationProtocol).

ToaccessanetworkprotectedbyIEEE802.1X,devicesmustbeauthenticated.Theauthenticationisperformedbyanauthentication
server,typicallyaRADIUSserver,examplesofwhichareFreeRADIUSandMicrosoftInternetAuthenticationService.

InAxisimplementation,theAxisproductandtheauthenticationserveridentifythemselveswithdigitalcerticatesusingEAP-TLS
(ExtensibleAuthenticationProtocol-TransportLayerSecurity).ThecerticatesareprovidedbyaCerticationAuthority(CA).
Youneed:

Certicatesareusedtoauthenticatedevicesonanetwork.Typicalapplicationsincludeencryptedwebbrowsing(HTTPS),network

canbeusedwiththeAxisproduct:
