OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
REMOTE CONTROL TRANSMITTER OPERATION
Your Car-Pro Security System comes with two 3-button Remote Control Transmitters that feature a sophisticated code hopping system that will prevent illegal use of a code grabber with an attempt to record and steal your transmitter codes.
LOCK – ARM & LOCK
UNLOCK – DISARM & UNLOCK
To disarm your Security System, press the UNLOCK button once. The siren will chirp (2) times and the vehicles parking lights will flash (2) times indicating that the Security System is now disarmed. The vehicles doors will unlock upon disarming when interfaced with the Security System.
DELETING THE ARM/DISARM CHIRP
When attempting to arm or disarm your Security System, you have the option of temporarily muting the siren chirp sound. To perform this function, simply depress both LOCK & UNLOCK buttons on the Remote Control Transmitter at the same time. No chirp sound will be heard, arm / disarm confirmation will be through the vehicles parking lights only.
VEHICLE LOCATOR
Your Car Pro Vehicle Security System is equipped with a vehicle locator function which chirps the siren 6 times and flashes the vehicle’s parking lights 12 times to easily locate your vehicle. To access this function, simply press the “Trunk” and “Unlock” buttons at the same time.
REMOTE PANIC FUNCTION
The Remote Control Transmitter may be used as a remote panic switch that will activate the Security System’s siren and the vehicles parking lights in case of an emergency. To activate the PANIC function, press and hold the Lock button on the Remote Control Transmitter for (3) seconds. The siren will sound and the vehicles parking lights will flash continuously. To cancel the PANIC function, press the lock or unlock button on the Remote Control Transmitter.
TRUNK RELEASE FUNCTION / PAGER OUTPUT (OPTIONAL)
You may use the Trunk button on your Remote Control Transmitter for a separate function. For example, if your vehicle is equipped with an electronic trunk release, the Security System can be interfaced with it and can electronically release your trunk by pressing the Trunk button for 2 seconds on the Remote Control Transmitter. For additional security you have the option of this output programmed as vehicle security pager trigger output. Consult with your dealer!
REMOTE CONTROL TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING
In the event, you should need to add or replace a Remote Control Transmitter, it is important that you follow the instructions below.
Note: Each step must be performed within 10 secon ds of the previous step
otherwise the system will exit the programming mode.
1. Enter: a. Turn the vehicles ignition to the “ON” position b. Push the valet switch 6 times. There will be 1 long chirp confirmation. c. You a re now ready to program the Remote Control Transmitter(s).
2. Programming the Remote Control Transmitters: a. Press any button on the first transmitter. There will be 1 short chirp. b. Within 10 seconds push any button on the second transmitter.
There will be two short chirps confirming.
3. Exit:
a. Turn the vehicles ignition to the “OFF” position, Or
b. Leave for 10 seconds; there will be 3 long chirps to confirm exit.
Note: The Security System will only retain the last 4 Remote Control
Transmitters programmed. If the Transmitter memory is exceeded, the Security System will start deleting Transmitters from memory in chronological order.
CHANGING THE REMOTE CONTROL TRANSMITTER BATTERY
The Remote Control Transmitters come with (1) miniature 12-volt battery. Under normal use this battery should have a life of approximately one year. If you should need to replace your battery you may want to return to your installing dealer. You may also wish to change the battery by yourself. When purchasing the battery be sure to purchase any of the following: GP23A, #EL12, #VR22 or Radio Shack #23-144.
To replace the battery, carefully remove the case screw located on the bottom of the Remote Control Transmitter where the key ring attaches to the case. Use a
miniature #1 Phillips head screwdriver!
After removing the screw, carefully pop open the plastic case. Before removing the battery note the direction of its “+/-“ terminals. Install the new battery exactly the same way using caution not to bend the battery contacts. Replace the case cover and insert and tighten the screw. Do not over tighten! Test the Remote Control Transmitter.
SYSTEM OPERATION OVERRIDE FUNCTION
The OVERRIDE FUNCTION may be used if the Remote Control Transmitter is lost or inoperative. To operate, enter the vehicle (alarm will sound), turn the vehicles ignition to the “ON” position and push the valet/override switch until the Security System stops sounding. The Security System is disarmed & reset. Have your Remote Control Transmitter serviced or replaced.
VALET FUNCTION
The Security System has a valet or stand-by mode that can be used when the vehicle is being serviced or valet parked. To activate the valet, turn the vehicles ignition to the “ON” position, then push and hold the valet / override switch for 2 seconds or until the Security Systems LED turns ON solid. Turn the vehicles ignition to the “OFF” position; your vehicle is now in valet mode. To reactivate, repeat the above procedure noting the Security Systems LED will now turn OFF.
Note: If your vehicle has the Keyless Entry option installed, you can still lock
and unlock the vehicles doors with Remote Control Transmitter while in the Valet Mode.
PASSIVE/MANUAL OPERATION
Manual Arming / Disarming is controlling your Security System via the Remote Control Transmitter. This security system is equipped with an optional Passive
Arming feature, which allows the Security System to arm 30 seconds after the last door is closed. Operation is as follows.
1. Turn the vehicles ignition to the “OFF” position and exit the vehicle.
2. After all entrances are closed, the Security Systems LED will flash fast for 30 seconds. If you re-open any door, the Security Systems LED will stop flashing. It will begin flashing again once the vehicles door is closed.
3. After the 30 second timer has elapsed, the Security System will automatically “ARM”. The siren will chirp (1) time and the vehicles parking lights will flash (1) time.
Note: If the vehicles door locks have been interfaced to the Security System,
the vehicles doors will automatically lock after the passive arming cycle has been completed. If this feature is not desired, see your local dealer and have the Security System re-programmed to eliminate passive door locking.
PASSIVE ARMING BYPASS
Your Car-Pro Vehicle Security System can temporarily bypass the Passive Arming function via the Remote Control Transmitter for one arming cycle. To temporarily bypass Passive Arming, press the Trunk button twice before exiting the vehicle. The Security System will confirm with 1 short chirp. Passive operation will be restored once the Security System is armed by the Remote Control Transmitter.
PRIORITY UNLOCK (OPTIONAL)
Your AutoPage Security System is equipped with a priority door unlock feature which will independently unlock the drivers door only when disarming the Security System. Pushing the Unlock button a second time within 3 seconds will unlock the entire vehicle. This feature requires additional installation and is not a standard feature of the Security System.
AUTOMATIC REARMING (OPTIONAL)
If this feature is selected, the Security System will automatically re-arm itself 60 seconds after disarming with the Remote Control Transmitter. Automatic rearm will cancel if any door is opened before the 60 second timer has elapsed.
IGNITION CONTROL DOOR LOCKS (OPTIONAL)
If the vehicles door locks have been interfaced to the Security System, the Security System will automatically lock the vehicles doors when the ignition is turned “ON” and/or unlock the vehicles doors when the ignition is turned “OFF”.
Note: If any door is open when the ignition is turned “ON”, the Security
System will not automatically lock the vehicles doors.
LED STATUS INDICATOR
1. LED OFF: Security System is disarmed
2. LED ON: Security System is in valet mode
3. LED FAST FLASHING: Automatic arming timer is counting down
4. LED FLASHING: Security System is armed
5. LED FLASHING AFTER DISARMING: Security System Violation a) 2 Flashes…pause- Trunk / Hood Violation
b) 3 Flashes…pause- Door Trigger Violation
c) 4 Flashes…pause- Shock Sensor Trigger Violation
Note: Your Car-Pro Security System is equipped with a Violation Memory
feature, which will inform the user of the last two violations by the sequence of flashes from the Security Systems LED. The Violation Memory feature will reset once the vehicles ignition is turned to the “ON” position.
CHIRP AND PARKING LIGHT FLASH INDICATORS
1. 1 Chirp & 1 light flash = Security System is armed
2. 2 Chirps & 2 light flashes = Security System is disarmed
3. 4 Chirps & 3 light flashes = Security System breach or intrusion in your absence.
DOMELIGHT ILLUMINATED ENTRY (OPTIONAL)
Your Car Pro Vehicle Security System is equipped with a domelight illuminated entry feature which will turn on the vehicles interior lights for 30 seconds after the Security System is disarmed / unlocked. This feature will reset once the vehicles ignition is turned “ON” or if the Security System is re -armed.
PATHWAY ILLUMINATION (OPTIONAL)
When disarming the Security System, the vehicles parking lights will stay on illuminating your pathway to the vehicle. The vehicles parking lights will stay on for 30 seconds or until the vehicles ignition is turned to the “ON” position.
30 SECOND ARMING DELAY
After arming your vehicle with the Remote Control Transmitter, the siren will chirp (1) time and the vehicles parking lights will flash (1) time. The Security System will instantly go into a 30-second standby mode to monitor all Security System functions. After the 30 seconds has elapsed, the Sec urity System is now fully armed. If a door is opened, the Security System will give a warning by chirping the siren (3) times.
SHOCK SENSOR
Your Car-Pro Security System includes a dual zone shock sensor designed to trigger the Security System from impact to the vehicle, such as a window being broken. If sensitivity adjustment should become necessary consult your local Authorized Dealer. Do not attempt to do this on your own!
SENSOR BYPASS
Your Car-Pro Vehicle Security is equipped with a sensor bypass feature that disables the shock & option sensors in the event your vehicle is subject to false alarms. To enable the sensor bypass mode, simply press the LOCK button twice within 3 seconds when arming the Security System. The Security System will chirp one additional time to confirm the sensor bypass mode was activated. The Sensor Bypass feature is programmed to activate for one arming cycle only. The Security System will return to normal operation during the next arming cycle.
STARTER DISABLE FEATURE (OPTIONAL)
If installed with your Security System, this feature is designed to prevent a thief from starting your vehicle once they have broken in to it.
CHANNEL 3 OPERATION / HORN OUTPUT (OPTIONAL)
Your security system is equipped with your choice of a third auxiliary channel for the operation of optional electrical devices such as window module or remote car starter module. If this is not desired this output can be programmed to use your car’s horn as an additional sounding device. Ask your installing dealer about the installation of additional accessories that will work with this optional output.
ANTI CAR-JACKING FEATURE (OPTIONAL)
Warning: If you do not want this feature confirm with your installing dealer that it has been turned off. The factory default setting is OFF. If you have chosen to have this feature programmed ‘on’, be sure to consult with your installer as to the exact location of the hidden valet/override switch in your vehicle.
If this feature is programmed “on”, there are two ways to enter car-jacking mode. First: Using the remote transmitter. With the ignition switch ‘on’, Press the ‘Lock’ and ‘Unlock’ buttons together for 1 second. The parking lights will turn on for 1.5 seconds to confirm Second: Door Open Mode. With the ignition switch ‘on’, open and then close the door to enter the car-jacking mode.
3 Timer circuits will function as follows: First Timer: 50 seconds after car jacking is activated the siren will start chirping for 15 seconds. During this 15-second period, you are alerted to push and release the valet/override switch to stop the car-jacking feature, if not the system will enter the second timer. SECOND TIMER: 65 seconds after car jacking is activated, the siren starts alarming and the parking lights start flashing. THIRD TIMER: 90 seconds after car-jacking is activated, the siren continues alarming, the parking lights continue flashing and then the ignition disable function activates to stop the engine from running and the starter disable function activates to prevent the car from being re-started. This feature will remain active until the vehicle’s battery is exhausted or the override option has been activated.
SYSTEM OVERRIDE: Turn the ignition from ‘off’ to ‘on’, and within 10 seconds push and release the valet/override switch. The siren will stop sounding and the system will return to its operable condition.
Note: While the car-jacking feature is activated, the vehicles remote transmitters are inoperable and will remain inoperable until the system override has been performed.
