Now, thanks to our revolutionary new SMART-ER utility, you’ll
always know if your internal hard drives are working their best – or if
preemptive action needs to be taken to safeguard your valuable data.
By tapping into the S.M.A.R.T. information already built into all modern
IDE and SATA hard drives, SMART-ER monitors each drive’s operational
status, and each volume's free space. Then, if conditions change, the user
is instantly notied by an on-screen or E-mail alert so that corrective action
can be taken before the drive actually starts to fail. For maximum exibility,
users can also run a manual status check at any time. SMART-ER is designed
as a natural extension of the operating system; installs itself as a system tray
utility and works in the background. And it’s the easiest and most reliable way
to keep an eye on the health of your internal hard drives.
So what is S.M.A.R.T.?
S.M.A.R.T. stands for Self Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology, and was
developed to give hard drive users an advance warning about possible future
failures. S.M.A.R.T. monitors many aspects of a drive's health status, including
spin-up time, spindle speed variance, seek errors and re-allocated sectors. Each
drive manufacturer sets thresholds for each of these parameters, and when one is
exceeded, a S.M.A.R.T. health status error is reported.

If you're interested in keeping your data and hard drives healthy and happy, you'll consider
SMART-ER an indispensable utility. That's because it's always working in the background,
monitoring the status of S.M.A.R.T. equipped hard drives, and automatically commanding the
drive to report any variance from optimal performance--so preemptive intervention can be
taken BEFORE hard drive failures or errors occur.
Once SMART-ER detects any problems in the drive, it notifies the user instantly and gives
a suggested corrective action. This alert is designed so that it can't be ignored until
acknowledged. Plus, a separate e-mail alert can be sent to a system administrator. SMARTER resides in your system tray as an icon and changes into a warning symbol if
a failure is detected. It's fully configurable, and if desired lets the user separately
set how often to check disc health status and free space. SMART-ER also has detailed logging
capabilities, so the user or system administrator can document the status of the computer.
