2IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using your telephone, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury, including the following:
1.Read and understand all the instructions.
2.Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product.
3.Unplug the power adapter from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
4.Keep your phone away from hot, humid conditions or strong sunlight and don’t let it get wet or use this product near water (for example, near a bath tub , kitchen sink, swimming pool).
5. Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as this can result in the risk of fire or electric shock.
6.Unplug this product from the wall outlet under the following conditions: t When the power supply cord or plug is damaged.
t If the product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. t If the product has been dropped and the cabinet has been damaged.
t If the product exhibits a distinct change in performance.
7.NEVER use your phone outdoors during a thunderstorm-unplug the base from the telephone line and the mains socket when there are storms in your area. Damage caused by lightning is not covered by the guarantee.
8.Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak in the vicinity of the leak.
9.Use only the supplied NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) batteries!
10.The use of other battery types or non-rechargeable batteries/primary cells can be dangerous. These may cause interference and/or damage to the unit or surroundings. The manufacturer will not be held liable for damage arising from such non-compliance.
11.Do not use third party charging bays. Damage may be caused to the batteries.
12.Please ensure the batteries are inserted in the correct polarity.
13.Dispose of batteries safely. Do not immerse them in water, burn them, or put them where they could get punctured.

5.2Cordless handset display (see P2)
The LCD display gives you information on the current status of the telephone.

5.4Base Station Display
Indicates a call is in progress.
Indicates that handsfree is being used.

This will display when it is a repeat call.

6INSTALLING YOUR PHONE
6.1Connecting the corded base station (see P6)
tUse the coiled cord to connect the corded handset to the base station, making sure the plugs are inserted fully into the sockets on the handset and on the side of the base, until they click in place.
tPlug the power supply cord & phone line cord into the sockets in the back of the base station.
tPlug the power adapter into a 230Vac, 50Hz mains socket and the line cord into your telephone line socket.
Warning:
Use only the power adapter provided for the base station.
6.2Installing the cordless handset and charging the batteries (see P3)
tSlide open the battery compartment cover from the back of the handset.
tPlace the 2 supplied batteries into the battery compartment with the polarity markings as indicated. tSlide the battery compartment cover back until it clicks into place.
tPut the cordless handset on the charger and charge for 15 hours before using the handset for the first time.
>The handset will give a beep when it is properly placed on the charger.
Warning:
Use only NiMH rechargeable batteries.
7USING YOUR PHONE
Using the cordless handset:
7.1Make a call
7.1.1Preparatory dialling
tEnter the phone number and press to connect to the line and dial the number. >When entering the number, if you make a mistake, press “C” (
) to delete digits.
7.1.2Direct dialling
tPress to connect to the line and then enter the phone number.
Note:
If you enter a wrong digit you cannot correct it with the “C” (
) key.

7.1.3Call from the phonebook

7.1.6Call timer
Your handset automatically times the duration of every call.
The call timer is displayed as soon as you answer a call or 15 seconds after dialling and remains on the screen for 5 seconds after the end of the call.
It is shown in hours, minutes and seconds format (HH:MM:SS).
7.2Answer a call
If the handset is not on the charging cradle: tWhen the phone rings, press 
to answer a call.
Note:
If “AUTO ANSWER” is set to “ON”, then lifting the handset off the base or charger will answer the call automatically and no keys need to be pressed.
7.3End a call
tDuring a call press 
to end the call.
OR
tPut the handset on the base station or charger to end the call.
7.4Handset speakerphone
During a call, you can press 
to alternate between hands-free speakerphone and normal handset use.
7.5Adjust volume
There are 5 levels (“VOLUME 1” to “VOLUME 5”) to choose from for each of the earpiece and speaker volumes.
During a call:

to select volume 1-5. The current setting is shown.
>When you end the call, the setting will remain at the last selected level.
7.6Mute a call
You can talk to someone nearby without letting the caller hear you during a call. During a call:
Press “C” ( 
) to mute the microphone and “MUTED” will display on the LCD. Your caller cannot hear you. Press “C” ( 
) again to unmute the microphone.
7.7Turn off the handset ringer
In idle, press and hold # to turn off the handset ringer. The 
icon is displayed on the LCD.
Note:
The display will still flash the call icon 
and show “CALL” or the caller display number, when there is an incoming call, even if the ringer is turned off.
To turn the ringer back on, press and hold # again.

7.8Turn on the keypad lock
You can lock the keypad so that it cannot be used accidentally while carrying it around. tIn idle, press and hold * to turn on the keypad lock and the 
icon will display.
Note:
You can still use 
to answer a call when the handset is ringing. To turn the keypad lock off, press and hold * again.
7.9Redial the last number
You can redial any of the 5 last numbers called. If you have stored a name in phonebook to go with the number, the name will be displayed instead.
The most recent last number will display at the top of the redial list.

If the redial list entry shows a name, press # to view the number of this entry.

7.10Make an External Call
7.10.1Preparatory dialling
Enter the phone number and lift up the corded handset or press 
to dial the number. When entering the number, if you make a mistake, press 
to delete digits.
Note:
To insert a pause in the dialling sequence, press and hold the < 0 > button, the screen will then show a “P” in the number.
Press R to insert a flash signal and the screen will show a “F”.
7.10.2Direct dialling
Lift up the corded handset or press 
to connect to the line and then enter the phone number.
7.10.3Call from the phonebook
Press 
to access the phonebook and press

to select the desired phonebook entry. Lift the corded handset or press 
to dial out the selected phonebook entry.

7.10.6Call timer

7.12End a Call
During a call connection, put the corded handset on the base station to end the call. Or press 
if you have a call in handsfree mode.
7.13Adjust Earpiece and Handsfree Volume
There are 5 levels (“VOLUME 1“ to “VOLUME 5“) to choose from for each of the earpiece and speaker volumes.
During a call:

to increase or decrease the volume level respectively.
The current setting is shown. When you end the call, the settings will remain at the last selected level.
7.14Mute a Call
You can talk to someone nearby without letting the caller hear you during a call. During a call:

to mute the microphone and “MUTED ” is displayed on the display. Your caller cannot hear you. Press 
again to unmute the microphone. “MUTED“ will be replaced by “LINE IN USE” on the display, and the caller will be able to hear you again.
7.15Emergency Call without Mains Power
The corded base unit can make an emergency call with the corded handset when the mains AC power is disconnected.
Pick up the corded handset and wait for the dial tone and then enter the phone number to make a call.
Note:
It is not possible to dial numbers from memories or use the speakerphone when the mains power is off. When the mains power is off, you can also answer an incoming call with the corded handset.
When the phone rings, pick up the corded handset to talk to the caller.
7.16Redial
You can redial any of the last 10 numbers called. If you have stored a name in the phonebook to go with the number, the name will be displayed as well.
7.16.1 Redial a Number from the Redial List

7.17Make an Internal Call
This feature allows you to make internal calls, transfer external calls. If the called base or handset is not answered within 60 seconds, the called base or handset will stop ringing and the calling one will return to standby mode.
7.17.1Intercom
Using the cordless handset:
1.In idle mode, press “C” ( 
) and all the other registered handset numbers will display, along with a „7“ and a „9“.
2.Enter < 7 > to call the base or enter the number of the handset that you want to call, or enter „9“ to call all handsets and the base.
3.The called base rings and the corded handset must be lifted off the base to establish the internal call.
OR
3.The called handset rings and 
must be pressed on that handset to establish the intercom call.

Note:
If only one handset is registered to the base station, pressing “C” ( 
) will call the base immediately.
Note:
If there is an external call while you are on an intercom call, you‘ll hear warning beeps, and you have to end the intercom call, before you can answer the external call.
Using the corded base:
1.In idle mode, press 
and the registered handset numbers will display, along with a „9“.
2.Enter the handset number you want to call, or press „9“ to call all handsets.
3.The called handset rings. Press 
on the called handset to establish the internal call.
7.17.2Transfer an External Call
Using the cordless handset:
During an external call:

to show “INTERCOM“.
2.Press 
to show all the other registered handset numbers, plus “9”. Enter the number for the handset you want to transfer the call to.
3.The external call is put on hold automatically and the called handset rings.
4.Press 
on the called handset to establish an internal call.
5. Press
on the calling handset or put the calling handset on the charging cradle to end the current call with the external party.
6. The external call is transferred to the called handset.
Note:
If the other handset has not answered the intercom call, you can stop the intercom and return to the external call by pressing 
.
Using the corded base:
During an external call:
1.Press 
to show all the other registered handset numbers, plus a „9“.
2.Enter the number for the handset you want to transfer the call to.
The external call is put on hold automatically and the called handset rings.
3.Press 
on the called handset to establish an internal call.
4.Replace the corded handset on to the base, or press 
if in speakerphone mode, to end the current call with the external party.
5. The external call is transferred to the called handset.
8PRIVATE PHONEBOOK
Your phone can store up to 50 private phonebook entries with names and numbers in each handset and 50 entries in the base. Each phonebook entry can have a maximum of 20 digits for a handset phone number or 24 digits for a base phone number, and 12 characters for the name. You can also select different ringtones for your phonebook entries. (Note: the different ringtones only play when you receive a call if you subscribe to Caller Display and the incoming number matches the stored number.) Phonebook entries are stored alphabetically by name.
Using the cordless handset:
8.1 Add a new phonebook entry

9CALLER DISPLAY (NETWORK DEPENDENT)
This feature is available if you have subscribed to the Caller Display service with your network service provider. Your phone can store up to 20 received calls with date/time information in the base and cordless handset Call Lists. The number will be shown on the handset and base displays when the phone is ringing. If the number matches with one of the entries in your base and/or handset Phonebook, the caller’s name stored in that phonebook will be displayed alternately with the number on the handset, and with the number on the base.
The handset and base will ring with the melody associated with that phonebook entry. If the call is from someone who withheld their number, “WITHHELD “ will display.
If the call is from someone whose number is unavailable, e.g. an international call or from a private exchange,”OUT OF AREA “ will display.
If you’ve got new Caller Display records, the handset will display “X NEW CALLS” in standby mode, where X is the number of new calls, and the base will show “NEW X” at the top right of the display.
Using the cordless handset:
9.1View the call list
All received calls are saved in the call list with the latest call at the top of the list. When the call list is full, the oldest call will be replaced by a new call. Any unanswered calls which have not been viewed are marked

Calls are saved in the Call Log, with all calls in the RECEIVED list but only unanswered calls in the MISSED list and in the Call List, with the latest call at the top of the list. When the call list is full, the oldest call will be replaced by a new call. Any unanswered call which has not been read is marked with the 
icon when viewed, and the number of new calls is shown at the top right of the screen in idle mode.

Your phone comes with a selection of settings that you can change to personalise your phone the way you like it to work.

11 HANDSET REGISTRATION
Important:
When you purchase your phone system, all cordless handsets are already registered to your base, so you do not need to register them.
Handset registration is only necessary when you buy extra cordless handsets or if a cordless handset has become faulty.

A cordless handset can be registered to only one base at a time.
To check whether a handset is registered, make sure mains power to the base unit is switched on and the handset is within range. The handset’s display should show its number and the 
icon should be steadily on. If the display shows “REGISTER ”, you need to register the handset again using the following process: tOn the base station, press

12 ANSWERING MACHINE (TAM)
Your phone includes a telephone answering machine that records unanswered calls when it is on. The display on the base will show the number of messages recorded.
The answering machine can store up to 59 messages within the maximum recording time of up to about 18 minutes, depending on the compression rate set.
As well as recording incoming messages, you can record memos for other users of your phone. If the answering machine memory is full, the Handset will display “TAM FULL“ alternately with the handset’s name or time, depending on the handset standby display mode set, and you will have to delete some messages before any new ones can be recorded.
You can turn the answering machine on or off using the base or handset. When the answering machine is set to ON, calls will be answered after the set answer delay and if the Answer and Record mode is set, the caller can then leave you a message. When the answering machine is set to OFF, calls will be answered after 14 rings and the answer only message will be played to your callers. They will not be able to leave you a message.

6INSTALLATION IHRES TELEFONS
6.1Die Basisstation anschließen (siehe P6)
tMit dem Spiralkabel verbinden Sie das schnurgebundene Telefon mit der Basisstation. Bitte achten Sie darauf, dass die zwei Kabelstecker des Spiralkabels korrekt am Telefon und an der Basisstation angeschlossen sind. Die Stecker rasten mit einem Klicken hörbar ein.
tSchließen Sie das Netzkabel und das Telefonanschlusskabel an die Buchsen auf der Rückseite der Basisstation an.
tStecken Sie den Netzadapter in eine 230 V/50 Hz-Steckdose und das Telefonanschlusskabel in den Telefonwandanschluss.
Achtung:
Benutzen Sie nur den Netzadapter, der mit der Basisstation mitgeliefert wurde.
6.2Installation des Mobilteils und Aufladen der Akkus (siehe P3)
tÖffnen Sie die Akkufachabdeckung auf der Rückseite des Mobilteils.
tLegen Sie die beiden mitgelieferten Akkus in das Akkufach gemäß den Polaritätsmarkierungen ein.

7.8Tastensperre aktivieren
Sie können das Tastenfeld sperren, so dass es beim Mitnehmen/Herumtragen nicht versehentlich benutzt wird.

Die zuletzt gewählte Nummer wird in der Wahlwiederholungsliste an erster Stelle angezeigt.

Heben Sie den Hörer ab, warten Sie auf den Wählton und geben Sie eine Nummer ein.
Hinweis:
Es ist ohne Stromanschluss nicht möglich, gespeicherte Nummern zu wählen oder die Freisprechfunktion zu nutzen.
Sie können ohne Stromanschluss eingehende Anrufe mit dem Telefonhörer beantworten. Wenn das Telefon klingelt, heben Sie den Telefonhörer ab und beginnen Sie das Gespräch.
7.16Wahlwiederholung
Sie können jede der letzten zehn gewählten Nummern erneut wählen. Wenn Sie zu einer Nummer einen Namen im Telefonbuch eingetragen haben, wird dieser Name mit der Nummer angezeigt.

Mit dieser Funktion können Sie interne Anrufe tätigen oder externe Anrufe weiterleiten. Wenn der Anruf auf dem Telefon oder Mobilteil nicht innerhalb von 60 Sekunden beantwortet wird, stellt das angerufene Gerät den Klingelton ein und das anrufende Gerät geht zurück in den Standby-Modus.
7.17.1 Freisprechfunktion
Verwendung des Mobilteils:

8PRIVATES TELEFONBUCH
Ihr Telefon kann bis zu 50 private Telefonbucheinträge mit Namen und Nummern jeweils in jedem Mobilteil und in der Basisstation speichern. Jeder Telefonbucheintrag kann maximal 20 Ziffern für die Nummern und 12 Buchstaben für die Namen pro Mobilteil haben bzw. 24 Ziffern und 12 Buchstaben beim schnurgebundenen Telefon. Sie können auch verschiedene Ruftöne für Ihre verschiedenen Telefonbucheinträge auswählen. (Hinweis: Die Funktion für verschiedene Ruftöne bei eingehenden Anrufen ist nur dann möglich, wenn Sie die Rufnummernanzeige freigeschaltet haben und die Nummer des eingehenden Anrufes der gespeicherten Nummer zugeordnet ist.) Die Telefonbucheinträge sind alphabetisch nach Namen geordnet.

Diese Funktion ist nur möglich, wenn Sie bei Ihrem Telefonanbieter die Rufnummernerkennung freigeschaltet haben. Ihr Telefon kann bis zu 20 eingegangene Anrufe mit Datumsund Zeitanzeige in der Basisstation und in der Anrufliste des Mobilteils speichern. Die Nummer wird auf dem Mobilteil und auf der Basisstation angezeigt, wenn das Telefon klingelt. Stimmt die Nummer mit einem Telefonbucheintrag Ihrer Basisstation und/oder Ihres Mobilteils überein, dann wird der Name des Anrufers abwechselnd mit seiner Nummer auf dem Mobilteil angezeigt. Auf der Basisstation wird die Nummer angezeigt.

Handelt es sich um einen Anruf mit Rufnummernunterdrückung, dann erscheint im Display “ANONYMANRUF” (WITHHELD).
Handelt es sich um einen Anruf, dessen Nummer nicht verfügbar ist, z. B bei privaten Telefonen oder internationalen Anrufen, erscheint auf dem Display “KEINE BASIS (OUT OF AREA)”.
Wenn Sie neue Anrufe haben, werden diese auf dem Mobilteil im Standby-Modus durch “X NEUE ANR.“ (X NEW CALLS) angezeigt. Die Anzahl der Anrufe ist mit X bezeichnet und die Basisstation zeigt “NEW X” auf der oberen rechten Seite des Displays an.
