SystemOverview
Theinstrumentclusterisusedtoprovidetheoperatorwith informationviagauges,indicatorlampsandadisplay .
Viathethreeconnectorsontherearoftheinstrumentcluster module,informationfromthewholevehicleisreceived.
Someinformationisreceivedfromsensorsdirectlyconnected totheinstrumentpanel,andsomeisreceivedacrosstheJ1587 datalink.Thedatalinkpermitsothercontrolunitsinthevehicle tosendmessagestotheinstrumentpanel.Theinstrument panelreceivesthesemessages,processesthemandthen presentstheinformationinasuitableformtotheoperator.

Theoperatorcanuseacontrolstalkonthesteeringcolumnto cyclethroughasetofmenustogainamoredetailedpictureof thevehiclestatus.
