1.0 Introduction
You have purchased a high quality product of Ch. BEHA GmbH
wich will allow you to carryout measurement over a long time
period.
• For measurement of Low-Ohm, Insulation resistance, line resistance, loop resistance, RCD trip time-/ current and rotary
field.
• Connection via five separate 4-mm sockets for L1, L2, L3, N
and P E
• For use for all test adapters with 4-mm plugsystems.
1.1 Model and Type Designation
The type shield sticker is located on the rear of the adapter.
When questions arise regarding the adapter, please always
quote product designation.
Prior to using the adapter the user is
1.2 Productdescription
The measurement adapter is an universal adapter for use in
combination with installation testers which enables to check
three phase plugs.
1.3 Scope of Supply
1 pc. measurement adapter
2.0 Transport and Storage
In the case of an adapter being transported in extreme temperatures, a recovery time of minimum 2 hours is required prior to
adapter operation.
3.0 Safety
The measurement adaptor has been manufactured and tested
to comply with the safety regulations and left our works in a
safe condition. To maintain this condition, the user must observe the safety instructions contained in this instruction manual.
The respective accident prevention regulations established by the professional associations for electrical systems and equipment must be strictly met at all times.
In order to avoid electrical shock, the valid safety and national regulations regarding excessive contact voltages
must receive utmost attention, when working with voltages exceeding 120V (60V) DC or 50V (25V)rms AC. The
values in brackets are valid for limited ranges (as for
example medicine and agriculture).
Measurements in dangerous proximity of electrical installations are only to be executed when instructed by a responsible electrical specialist, and never alone.
Before each measurement make sure that the test leads
and the adapter are undamaged.
The measurement adapter contains no fuses. The overload protection must be provided by the upstream connected over current device.
The measurement adapter must be used for measurement purposes only, and is not allowed be used for continuous measurements. It must be used in the ranges as
described in the technical data section.
If the operator’s safety is no longer ensured, the adapter is
to be put out of service and protected against use. The
safety is no longer insured, if the adapter:
• shows obvious damage
• does not carry out the desired measurements
• has been stored for too long under unfavourable conditions
• has been subjected to mechanical stress during transport.
Avoid any heating up of the adapter by direct sunlight to
ensure perfect functioning and long adapter life.
3.1 Appropriate Usage
The adapter may only be used under those conditions
and for those purposes for which it was conceived. For
this reason, in particular the safety references, the technical data including environmental conditions and the
usage in dry environments must be followed.
When modifying or changing the adapter, the operational
safety is no longer ensured.
The adapter may only be opened by an authorised service technician.
3.2 Measurement using the three-phase current adapter
Low ohm measurement
made from PE connector against the equipotential bonding or
other conductible parts within a system. It is, of course, possible to directly test the connection between N and PE.
Insulation resistance measurement
between all active conductors (L1, L2, L3, and N) against PE.
Additionally, the measurement of all active conductors towards each other is required according to some regulations.
The mains voltage must be switched off!
Line resistance
measurement (L1, L2, or L3) against N. Attention, for safety
testing, PE must be connected for some test adapters!
Loop resistance/ impedance
(L1, L2, or L3) against PE. Attention, for safety testing, N
must be connected at some test adapters!
RCD trip time/ trip current
L2, or L3) towards N and PE. Imperatively connect N and PE.
Test adapters without probe perform contact voltage
measure- ment!
Rotary field
PE are not required for this application.
