Introduction Engine Actuators
Engine actuators: the perfect balance
A full tank of fuel isn’t enough on its own to drive a vehicle. The fuel has to be prepared correctly for combustion, i.e. mixed with air and the fuel/air mix then fed into the engine’s combustion chamber. The engine management system features various actuators that work together to ensure optimum combustion at all times. Regardless of the changed engine load status (switching on the air conditioning or other electrical consumers), these deliver a constant idling speed.
Motorstellelemente: Die Mischung macht‘s
Ein voller Tank allein genügt nicht, um ein Fahrzeug anzutreiben. Der Kraftstoff muss auch für die Ver­brennung entsprechend vorbereitet, d.h. mit Luft gemischt werden. Das Kraftstoff-Luft-Gemisch wird dann in den Brennraum des Motors geleitet. Für die zu jedem Zeitpunkt optimale Verbrennung sorgen verschiedene miteinander verbundene Stellelemente im Motormanagement. Diese regeln, unabhängig vom veränderten Lastzustand des Motors (Einschalten der Klimaanlage oder von anderen elektrischen Verbrau­chern) eine konstante Leerlaufdrehzahl.

Un réservoir seulement rempli ne suffi t pas pour propulser une voiture. Le carburant doit aussi être préparé pour la combustion de manière correspon­dante, c‘est-à-dire mélangé avec de l‘air. Ensuite le mélange carburant/air est transféré dans la cham­bre de combustion du moteur. Différents éléments de commande, reliés entre eux, dans la gestion du moteur veillent à une combustion toujours optimale. Ceux-ci règlent un nombre de tours en marche à vide constant, indépendamment de l‘état de charge modifi é du moteur (mise en marche de la climatisati­on ou d‘autres consommateurs électriques).
Actuadores de motor: en la mezcla está la gracia
Un depósito lleno no basta para propulsar un vehículo. Para lograrlo, el carburante debe prepararse de manera acorde para la combustión, es decir, debe mezclarse con aire. A continuación, la mezcla carburante-aire se canaliza hacia la cámara de combustión del motor. La combustión óptima en cada momento queda asegura­da por distintos actuadores comunicados entre sí en el sistema de gestión del motor. Éstos regulan la veloci­dad de ralentí a un valor constante, independientemen­te de si varía el estado de carga del motor (conexión del climatizador o de otros consumidores eléctricos).

Elementi di regolazione del motore: la miscela è fondamentale
Un serbatoio pieno da solo non è suffi ciente ad aziona­re un veicolo. Il carburante deve anche essere prepa­rato adeguatamente per la combustione, in altre parole miscelato con l’aria. La miscela carburante-aria viene condotta nella camera di combustione del motore. Vari elementi di regolazione collegati l’uno all’altro garantis­cono la combustione ottimale in ogni momento nella gestione del motore. Questi regolano un numero di giri a vuoto costante, indipendentemente dal carico del motore (attivazione dell’impianto di climatizzazione o di altre utenze elettriche).

Electromotive throttle valves
In this type of throttle, the butterfl y valve is mechanically linked to the accelerator pedal. The angle of the valve is monitored by the throttle electronics, which remain in con­stant communication with the engine management system. The resulting data is compared in real time with a range of information from other onboard sensors. The engine ma­nagement system calculates the optimum throttle position in terms of both fuel economy and emissions. This information is then fed back to the throttle electronics, which adjust the throttle angle as required.
Elektromotorische Drosselklappen
Die Drosselklappenstellung wird mechanisch über den Gaszug reguliert und von der Drosselklappen-Elektronik als Steuersignal an das Motorsteuergerät weitergeleitet. Die eingehenden Informationen werden mit weiteren aktuellen Informationen aus verschiedenen Sensoren des Motorma­nagements abgeglichen. Die für Verbrauch und Abgas­emission optimale Drosselklappenstellung wird permanent errechnet und angeglichen und in Form eines Steuersignals an die Drosselklappe zurück gesendet. Dort wird eine Feinre­gulierung der Drosselklappenstellung eingeleitet.
Corps papillon compact
Ici, le papillon est relié à la pédale d’accélérateur au moyen d’une liaison mécanique. L’angle de soupape est contrôlé par l’élec-tronique du papillon, qui reste en communication permanente avec le système de commande du moteur. Les données qui en résultent sont comparées en temps réel avec un ensemble d’informations provenant d’autres capteurs embarqués. Le système de commande du moteur calcule alors la position optimale du système au niveau des économies de carburant et des émissions. Ces informations sont ensuite renvoyées à l’électronique du papillon, qui ajuste l’inclinaison en conséquence.

Esta información se devuelve a la electrónica del acelerador que corrige el ángulo del acelerador según sea necesario.
Valvole a farfalla elettromeccaniche
In questo caso, la valvola a farfalla è collegata meccanica­mente al pedale dell’acceleratore. L’angolo di apertura della valvola è controllato dai componenti elettronici della stessa, che rimangono in comunicazione costante con il sistema di gestione del motore. I dati ottenuti vengono confrontati in tempo reale con una serie di informazioni provenienti da altri sensori di bordo. Il sistema di gestione del motore calcola la posizione ottimale della valvola in termini sia di risparmio di carburante sia di emissioni. Queste informazioni vengono poi rinviate ai componenti elettronici della valvola che ne regolano l’apertura di conseguenza.

Electronic throttle valves
The electronic accelerator’s pulse and all other available data from the engine management system’s sensors are permanently calibrated. The optimum throttle valve position is calculated from this information. The electronic throttle valve is only activated by the control signal from the engine management system.
Elektronische Drosselklappen
Der Impuls des elektronischen Gaspedals (E-Gas) und alle weiteren zur Verfügung stehenden Daten der Motormanage­ment-Sensorik werden permanent abgeglichen. Hieraus wird die jeweils optimale Drosselklappenstellung errechnet. Die elektronische Drosselklappe wird dabei ausschließlich durch das Steuersignal aus dem Motormanagement angesteuert.
Clapets d‘étranglement électroniques
L‘impulsion de la pédale d‘accélérateur électronique et toutes les autres données disponibles de la sensorique de la gestion du moteur sont alignées en permanence. On calcule en permanence la position optimale des clapets d‘étranglement. Ce faisant le clapet d‘étranglement électro­nique est excité exclusivement par le signal de commande de la gestion du moteur.

El impulso del pedal electrónico del acelerador (acelerador electrónico) y todos los restantes datos disponibles de los sensores del sistema de gestión del motor se equilibran de manera permanente. A partir de estos datos se calcula la posición óptima de la válvula de mariposa en cada momento. La válvula de mariposa electrónica se controla exclusivamente mediante la señal de control procedente del sistema de gestión del motor.

L’impulso del pedale dell‘acceleratore elettronico (E-Gas) e tutti gli altri dati disponibili della sensorica di gestione del motore vengono compensati in modo permanente. In base a questi dati viene calcolata la posizione di volta in volta ottimale delle valvole a farfalla. La valvola a farfalla elettronica viene controllata esclusivamente dal segnale di comando proveniente dalla gestione del motore.

Idle-speed controllers
Idle speed governors dynamically control the adjustment of intake air in the throttle valve bypass and therefore the engine speed when idling. Working with the sensors and an electronic control unit, they quickly correct variances in
speed.
Leerlaufregler
Leerlaufregler steuern die Regelung der Ansaugluft im Drosselklappen-Bypass und damit die Motordrehzahl im Leerlauf dynamisch. In Verbindung mit den Sensoren und einem elektronischen Steuergerät werden Drehzahlabwei­chungen schnell ausgeregelt.

Les régulateurs de ralenti commandent la régulation de l‘air d‘entrée dans le by-pass des clapets d‘étrang­lement et ainsi le régime du moteur au ralenti de manière dynamique. Les écarts de régime sont réglés rapidement en combinaison avec les capteurs et un appareil de commande électronique.

Los reguladores de ralentí gobiernan la regulación del aire de admisión en el bypass de la válvula de mariposa y, por tanto, controlan de manera dinámica las revoluciones del motor en ralentí. Conjuntamente con los sensores y una unidad de mando electrónica se compensan rápidamente las desviaciones del número de revoluciones del motor.

I dispositivi di regolazione del minimo regolano in modo dinamico l’aria aspirata nel bypass delle valvole a farfalle e quindi il numero di giri al minimo del motore. Digital linear actuators
Digital linear actuators gradually control the adjustment of in­take air in the throttle valve bypass and therefore the engine speed when idling. Working with the sensors and an electro­nic control unit, they quickly correct variances in speed.

Air control valves
In the intake system of diesel engines, our ACVs (with or without integrated control electronics) use an electric motor to restrict the intake air so that a precisely controlled exhaust gas recirculation system is possible (stricter exhaust stan­dards) and to remedy the annoying shake that occurs when shutting down diesel engines.
Luftregelventile
Mit unseren ACV (mit oder ohne integrierte Regelelektronik) wird im Ansaugtrakt von Dieselmotoren elektromotorisch eine Ansaugluftdrosselung vorgenommen, um eine exakt geregelte Abgasrückführung (strengere Abgasnormen) zu realisieren sowie die bei Dieselmotoren störend wirkende Abschaltschüttelfunktion zu beheben.
Clapet d‘arrivée d‘air
Avec nos ACV (avec ou sans électronique de réglage inté­grée) on procède de façon électromotrice à une restriction d‘air aspiré dans le circuit d‘admission des moteurs diesel pour réaliser un recyclage des gaz d‘échappement exac­tement réglé (normes de rejet plus sévères) ainsi on élimine aussi les secousses moteur au moment de l‘arrêt des moteurs diesel, ressenties comme dérangeantes.

Con nuestras válvulas reguladoras de aire ACV (con o sin electrónica de regulación integrada) se estrangula el aire de admisión mediante un motor eléctrico en el conducto de admisión de motores diésel para implementar una recircula­ción de gases de escape regulada con exactitud (para poder cumplir normas más estrictas sobre emisiones de gases de escape) así como para eliminar la función supresora de sacudidas durante la parada del motor, tan molesta en los motores diésel.

Con il nostro ACV (con o senza sistema elettronico di rego­lazione integrato) nel tratto di aspirazione dei motori diesel viene effettuata con un motore elettrico una chiusura dell’aria di aspirazione per realizzare un ricircolo del gas di scarico regolato con esattezza (norme sulle emissioni dei gas di scarico più severe) e per eliminare una scorretta funzione di vibrazione nei motori diesel.

Air fl ap actuators
The electric actuator with integrated position sensor and op­tional integrated electronics allows intake manifold throttles or turbo charge guide vanes for example to be continuously adjusted. Its more precise control means that it is taking the place of standard pneumatic drives which can no longer satisfy the more stringent requirements.
Luftklappen-Stellmotoren
Der elektrische Aktuator mit integriertem Positionssensor und wahlweise integrierter Elektronik ermöglicht die kontinu­ierliche Verstellung beispielsweise von Saugrohrklappen oder Turboladerleitschaufeln und ersetzt aufgrund der präziseren Steuerung herkömmliche pneumatische Antriebe, die den gestiegenen Anforderungen nicht mehr genügen.
Moteur de commande des clapets d‘arrivée d‘air
L‘actionneur électrique avec un capteur de position intégré et au choix une électronique intégrée permet le réglage continu par exemple de clapets de tuyau d‘aspiration ou d‘aubes directrices de turbocompresseur et remplace, en raison de la commande plus précise, les entraînements pneumatiques traditionnels qui ne suffi sent plus aux exigen­ces plus élevées.
