Introduction
Familiarise yourself with the appliance before using it for the first time. Please
read the operating instructions and safety advice carefully. Keep all the safety advice and instructions in a safe place for future reference. If you pass the appliance on to anyone else, please ensure that you also pass on all the docu­mentation.
Keep neckties away from the area of the paper feed!
Keep your hair away from the area of the paper feed!
Do not spray any inflammable gases or any oil on the appliance. Fire danger!
Do not feed any paper clips or staples into the paper feed!

Intended use
This strip cut shredder is intended exclusively for the shredding of paper. The appliance is only suitable for use indoors in dry, enclosed rooms. Any other use or modification to the appliance shall be con­sidered as improper use and could give rise to con­siderable dangers. The appliance is not intended for commercial use.

Overheating protection
This appliance is fitted with overheating protection. Should the motor overheat due to an overload, the appliance switches itself off automatically. In this case, remove the plug and wait until the appliance has cooled down to room temperature. You can then reconnect the plug to the mains power socket and put the appliance back into operation.
Safety advice
The following safety instructions must always be complied with when using electrical appliances:
Do not place the appliance in close proximity
to heat or water sources.
Do not use the appliance in environments
which are dusty or vulnerable to explosion (inflammable gases, vapours, fumes of organic
solvents). Do not use the appliance outdoors. Do not put any objects on top of the appliance.
Avoid the danger of death from
electric shock!
Should the power cable or plug become dam-
aged, arrange for it to be replaced immediately
by a qualified specialist or Customer Service,
in order to avoid any hazards. Arrange for damaged or malfunctioning appli-
ances to be inspected and repaired immediately
by a qualified specialist or Customer Service. Do not expose the appliance to rain and never
use it in a damp or wet environment. Ensure that the power cable never becomes
damp or wet during operation.

This strip cut shredder should only be operated
by one person at a time.
Never leave the appliance unattended whilst in
use.
Keep loose clothing, long hair and jewellery
etc. well away from the cutter opening. Should an object (sleeve, necktie etc) unintentionally fall into the paper feed, pull the power plug out of the socket immediately.
Never place your fingers into the cutter open-
ing.
Keep pets away from the appliance. They
could injure themselves.
Children or persons who lack the knowledge
or experience to use the appliance, or whose physical, sensory or intellectual capacities are limited, must never be allowed to use the appli­ance without supervision or instruction by a person responsible for their safety.
The packaging material can be a source of
danger for children. Dispose of the packaging material immediately after unpacking or keep it in a safe place not accessible to children.
Lay the power cable in such a way that no one
can tread on or trip over it.

Place the appliance in the immediate vicinity of
an electrical power socket. Do not use an ex­tension cable. Ensure that the appliance and the power socket are easily and quickly acces­sible in the event of an emergency.
Do not overburden the appliance. This strip cut
shredder is designed for brief operating periods only.
If there is danger, immediately remove the elec-
trical plug from the socket.
Never use this strip cut shredder for tasks for
which it was not intended.
Be alert at all times! Always pay attention to
what you are doing and proceed with caution

Preparing for use
Place the strip cut shredder onto a suitable con-
tainer. Place the wide end of the appliance on the
edge of the container. Then pull the telescopic

out sufficiently to ensure that this also
sits securely on the edge of the container. Insert the plug into a mains power socket.
Operation
Note: You can shred up to 5 sheets of DIN A4

Switching the appliance into the Fwd mode:
For continuous shredding set the switch 1 to
the ‘Fwd’ (forward) position.

Switching the appliance into the Auto mode:
For automatic shredding set the switch 1 to
the ‘Auto’ position. The motor starts automati-
cally when the paper is inserted and switches
itself off automatically if no further paper is in-
serted.
Note: Always insert smaller pieces of paper cen­trally in the middle of the cutter opening contact which starts the cutting process is located there.

Clear the paper feed of paper debris by
means of the ‘Fwd’ (forward) running. Slide the switch into the ‘Auto’ position. Reduce the amount of paper per feed to be
shredded and continue with the shredding
process.
Switching the appliance off:
When you have finished using the appliance,
always remove the plug from the mains power
socket.
Note regarding overheating of the appliance:
If it overheats, the appliance switches off automati­cally.
Remove the plug from the mains power socket. Empty the container. Allow the appliance to cool down. Replace the power plug in the socket. Switch the appliance on by setting the switch 1
in the ‘Auto’ position.
Cleaning and care
DANGER TO LIFE FROM ELECTRIC
SHOCK! Always remove the power plug
before cleaning the appliance.
CAUTION! The cutting blades in the appli-
ance are very sharp! Injury hazard!
Under no circumstances should you use liquids
or detergents, as these will damage the device.
Do not use solvents, petrol etc. Clean the outside of the appliance only with a
soft, slightly moist cloth. Remove the plug from the mains power socket.

The packaging is made entirely of recy­clable materials which you can dispose of at your local recycling facilities.
Contact your local community or municipal admin­istration for more details on how to dispose your worn-out product.
To help protect the environment, please dispose the product properly, and not in the household waste, when it has reached the end of its useful life. Infor­mation on collection points and their opening hours can be obtained from your local authority.
