exclusively for:
• the charging of rechargable Ni-Cd and Ni-MH
batteries with the sizes AAA/AA/C/D and 9 V
Block.
• for charging both fast and standard
rechargeable batteries.
• domestic use only, it is not intended for
commercial use.

Safety instructions
Fire hazard!
Do not place the Universal Battery Charger:
• where it would be subject to direct sunlight. It
could happen that the Universal Battery Charger
overheats and becomes irreparably damaged.
• in close adjacency to sources of heat. This includes for example ovens, fan heaters and similar
appliances, as well as the ventilation openings
of electrical devices. The Universal Battery
Charger could be irreparably damaged.
• in damp environments or in the vicinity of water.
Moisture could permeate into the Universal Battery Charger. There would then be the danger of
receiving an electric shock and or causing a fire!
• Only charge rechargable batteries of the types
„Ni-Cd“ and „Ni-MH“. NEVER recharge batteries of other types or non-rechargable batteries.
These are not suitable for recharging. Batteries
not suitable for recharging can overheat and explode. It could irreparably damage the Universal Battery Charger and the inserted batteries.
There is also a risk of personal injury!
Danger of electrical shock!
Do not place the Universal Battery Charger:
• in the close vicinity of water, e. g. baths and
swimming pools. Should water permeate into the
Universal Battery Charger, the appliance could
be irreparably damaged.
• Remove the power cable from the plug socket
before cleaning the Universal Battery Charger.
You can thus avoid an electric shock. Should
water or moisture permeate the Universal Battery Charger despite observing all precautions,
immediately remove the power cable from the
plug socket.

Injury hazard!
• Always store batteries out of the reach of
children! There is a danger that children could
swallow batteries! Due to the poisonous content
of batteries there is a danger to life!
• When charging batteries never leave the
Universal Battery Charger unsupervised.
• The batteries could become hot during charging.
NEVER touch hot batteries! There is a risk of
being burnt! After charging batteries, first of all
remove the power cable of the Universal Battery
Charger from the plug socket. Then allow the
batteries to cool down before removing them
from the Universal Battery Charger.
• Should the power cable be defective, immediately arrange for it to be replaced by a service
partner to avoid the risk of injury.
• The Universal Battery Charger does not contain
any user-serviceable components. Should you
open the housing of the Universal Battery Charger, the warranty expires! Should repairs be
needed, contact one of our service partners in
your area.
• No liability or warranty will be accepted for
damage caused by opening the appliance
housing, repairs attempted by non-qualified
persons or improper use of the Universal Battery
Charger!
• Leakage of battery acids can occur, especially
with old batteries. You should remove all batteries from the Universal Battery if you do not intend to use it for an extended period. You can
thus protect the Universal Battery Charger from
leaking battery acids.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensorial or mental cabilities, or lack of experience
and knowledge, unless they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliance by a person responsible for their
safety.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the appliance.
Dealing with rechargable batteries
• Do not use damaged (corroded) batteries.
• Should batteries leak, avoid skin contact with
them. This leads to skin irritation.
• Should a battery leak into the Universal Battery
Charger, clean it with a dry cloth. Wear
protective gloves!
Commissioning
• Before taking the Universal Battery Charger into
use, check that all items are complete/available
and free of visible damage.
• Place the Universal Battery Charger on a
straight, level, scratch and slip resistant surface.
Notice:
This appliance is equipped with non-slip rubber feet.
As furniture surfaces may be made of a variety of
materials and are treated with many different types
of cleaning agents, it cannot be completely ruled
out that some substances contain ingredients which
may corrode the rubber feet and soften them. If
possible, place an anti-slip material under the

Charging batteries
Danger!
Charge exclusively rechargable batteries of the
types „Ni-Cd“ and „Ni-MH“.
NEVER recharge batteries of other types or nonrechargable batteries. These are not suitable for recharging. They could irreparably damage the Universal Battery Charger and the inserted batteries.
There is also the danger of a fire as well as an
explosion!
Notice:
Ensure that the batteries are inserted into the
charging slots in accordance with their polarities.
Otherwise, the batteries will not be charged.
When the battery capacity has been determined,
the charging process begins.
The various displays have the following meanings:
The LED blinks alternatively red and green:
The batteries are being discharged for
max.10 minutes (Refresh-Function).
The LED blinks green:
The batteries are being charged by means of
impulse-charging, for ca. 3 minutes with a
reduced charging current.
The LED continuously glows red:
The batteries are being charged.
The LED continuously glows green:
The batteries are fully charged.
• Insert the batteries into the charging slots.
• Press the 9 V Block batteries into the charging
slot until they audibly engage.
1 to 8 batteries can be individually charged:
• 4 x Type C or Type D batteries in the charging
slots 1 to 4, with additionally
2 x Type 9 Volt Block batteries in the charging
slots 5 and 6,
or
• 6 x Type AA or AAA in the charging slots 1 to 4,
with additionally
2 x Type 9 Volt Block batteries in the charging
slots 5 and 6.
• The charging process now begins.
The Universal Battery Charger has an LED for
each cell in the charging slot. The LEDs of the
respective charging slots show the charge
condition of the individual batteries.
• In the first 5 seconds the Universal Battery
Charger carries out a capacity test:
- The LED of the charging slot glows orange:
Capacity between 20%–80%.
- The LED of the charging slot glows red:
Capacity under 20%.
- The LED of the charging slot glows green:
Capacity over 80%.
The LED blinks red:
The inserted batteries are not positioned
correctly in the charging slot or are defective.
Note:
Should type C or D batteries be charged in the
outer charging slots, the operating condition is
displayed by the inner LEDs.
Warning!
The batteries could become hot during charging.
NEVER touch hot batteries! There is a danger of
being burnt!
• Remove the power cable of the Universal Battery
Charger from the plug socket and allow the
batteries to cool down.
Afterwards you can remove the charged batteries
from the Universal Battery Charger.

Depending on the type, age and remaining charge
in the batteries, the charging process can take various lengths of time. The average charging time
can be taken from the following table. Take note however that the times given are only guiding values.

Automatic charging control/
Retention charging
This Universal Battery Charger controls the charging
time for rechargable batteries of the types Ni-Cd
and Ni-MH separately. This control is based on
the –∆ U („minus Delta U“) calculation.
In mathematics, with Delta ∆ differences are
described.
„Minus Delta U“ in this case means a negative
voltage difference.
This charge identification makes itself useful in the
following effects:
Should a battery be charged with a constant current, its voltage rises continuously. When the battery
is full, its voltage reaches a maximum and falls lightly with further current flow. This light fall in voltage is
recognised by the charging electronics and the
charge process is terminated. The Universal Battery
Charger automatically switches to „Retention
charging“. This means that the batteries are no longer being charged with continuous power, but with
short power impulses instead. This counteracts the
process of self-discharge, thus retaining the batteries
in a fully charged condition.

Troubleshooting
The Universal Battery Charger displays no
functions
• Check to see if the power cable is correctly
inserted into the power socket.
• Check to see if the power socket is „live“. To do
this, connect a different, functioning electrical
appliance to the socket.
The inserted batteries are not being charged
• Check that the batteries are being inserted in
accord with their polarity.
• Check that batteries suitable for charging have
been inserted into the Universal Battery Charger.
Suitable for charging are exclusively rechargable Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries of the types
AAA/AA/C/D and 9 V Block batteries.
• Remove the power cable from the power socket
and allow the appliance to cool down, as the
temperature monitoring has possibly activated
itself. Temperature monitoring ensures that the
charging process is broken off as soon as a battery reaches an excessively high temperature.
Other malfunctions
Make contact with one of our service partners close
to you if:
• the malfunction cannot be corrected as
described above,
• or, when operating the Universal Battery
Charger, other malfunctions occur.
Cleaning
Clean the housing of the Universal Battery Charger
only with a dry cloth. For stubborn soiling use a
lightly moistened cloth. When cleaning ensure that
no moisture can permeate into the Universal Battery
Charger! Never clean the insides of the charging
slots with moist cloths. Instead, use a clean soft
brush to clean them. Under no circumstances should
you use abrasive or chemical cleaners.
Disposal
Do not dispose of the appliance in your
normal domestic waste. This product is
subject to the European guideline
2002/96/EC.
Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal centre or at your community waste facility.
Observe the currently applicable regulations.
In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal
centre.
Battery disposal!
Batteries may not be disposed of with normal
domestic waste. All consumers are statutorily obliged to dispose of batteries at the collection point in
their community/district or with the original supplier.
The purpose of this obligation is to ensure that
batteries can be disposed of in an environmentally
friendly manner. Only dispose of batteries when
they are fully discharged.

Dispose of all packaging materials in an
environmentally responsible manner.
Warranty & Service
Importer
The warranty for this appliance is for 3 years from
the date of purchase. The appliance has been
manu-factured with care and meticulously examined
before delivery. Please retain your receipt as proof
of purchase. In the case of a warranty claim, please
make contact by telephone with our service department. Only in this way can a post-free despatch for
your goods be assured.
The warranty covers only claims for material and
maufacturing defects, not for wearing parts or for damage to fragile components. This product is for private use only and is not intended for commercial use.
The warranty is void in the case of abusive and
improper handling, use of force and internal tampering not carried out by our authorized service
branch. Your statutory rights are not restricted in
any way by this warranty.

Käyttötarkoitus
Paristojen yleislaturi on tarkoitettu ainoastaan:
• uudelleen ladattavien, AAA-/AA-/C-/D-kokoisten
ja 9 V:n Ni-Cd- ja Ni-MH-paristojen lataamiseen.
• pikalataukseen sopivien ja sopimattomien
akkuparistojen lataukseen.
• yksityiseen, eikaupalliseen käyttöön.

Turvaohjeet
Tulipalonvaara!
Älä aseta paristojen yleislaturia:
• paikkoihin, jotka ovat alttiina suoralle auringonsäteilylle. Muutoin paristojen yleislaturi saattaa
ylikuumentua ja vahingoittua täysin.
• lämpölähteiden välittömään läheisyyteen. Tällaisiksi lasketaan esim. uunit, kuumailmapuhallin ja
muut laitteet sekä muiden sähkölaitteiden tuuletusaukot. Muutoin paristojen yleislaturi saattaa vahingoittua täysin.
• kosteisiin ympäristöihin tai veden lähettyville.
Muutoin kosteus saattaa tunkeutua paristojen
yleislaturiin. On olemassa sähköiskun ja tulipalon vaara!
• Lataa ainoastaan uudelleen ladattavia „Ni-Cd“ja „Ni-MH“-paristoja. Älä koskaan lataa muun
tyyppisiä paristoja tai kertakäyttöisiä paristoja.
Nämä eivät sovellu ladattavaksi. Lataamiskelvottomat paristot saattavat ylikuumentua ja räjähtää. Paristojen yleislaturi ja siihen asetetut paristot saattavat vaurioitua täysin. On olemassa
loukkaantumisvaara!
Sähköiskun vaara!
Älä aseta paristojen yleislaturia:
• veden välittömään läheisyyteen, esim.
kylpyammeen tai uimaaltaan reunalle. Jos
paristojen yleislaturiin pääsee vettä, laite
saattaa vaurioitua täysin.
• Irrota virtajohto pistorasiasta ennen paristojen
yleislaturin puhdistamista. Näin vältät sähköiskun. Jos paristojen yleislaturiin pääsee varotoimista huolimatta vettä/kosteutta, irrota verkkopistoke välittömästi pistorasiasta.
Loukkaantumisvaara!
• Säilytä paristot aina poissa lasten ulottuvilta! On
olemassa vaara, että lapset nielevät paristot! Paristojen myrkyllisten ainesosien vuoksi on
olemassa hengenvaara!

• Älä koskaan jätä paristojen yleislaturia latauksen
aikana ilman valvontaa.
• Paristot voivat kuumentua latauksen aikana. Älä
koskaan koske kuumiin paristoihin! Muutoin on
olemassa palovammojen vaara! Irrota siksi latauksen jälkeen ensiksi paristojen yleislaturin
virtajohto pistorasiasta. Anna paristojen sitten
jäähtyä, ennen kuin otat ne paristojen
yleislaturista.
• Jos virtajohto on viallinen, anna huoltopisteen
vaihtaa se välittömästi uuteen, jotta vaaroilta
vältyttäisiin.
• Paristojen yleislaturissa ei ole mitään käyttäjän
huollettavissa olevia osia. Jos paristojen
yleislaturin kotelo avataan, takuu raukeaa! Käänny korjausta varten lähelläsi olevan
huoltokumppanimme puoleen.
• Emme vastaa kotelon avaamisesta, muun kuin
pätevien ammattihenkilöiden suorittamista
korjausyrityksistä tai määräystenvastaisesta
käytöstä johtuvista vaurioista, eikä takuu koske
näitä vaurioita!
• Erityisesti vanhemmista paristoista saattaa vuotaa akkuhappoa. Poista siksi kaikki paristot, jos
et käytä paristojen yleislaturia pidempään aikaan. Näin suojaat paristojen yleislaturia vuotavien akkuhappojen aiheuttamilta vaurioilta.
• Älä anna laitetta sellaisten henkilöiden (mukaan
lukien lapset) käyttöön, joiden fyysiset, aistilliset
tai henkiset kyvyt tai kokemuksen ja tiedon puute
estävät heitä käyttämästä laitetta turvallisesti,
jollei heitä ole aikaisemmin valvottu tai opastettu
laitteen käytössä.
• Selvitä lapsille laite ja sen vaarat, jotta he eivät
leikkisi laitteella.
Ladattavien paristojen käsittely
• Älä käytä vaurioituneita (syöpyneitä) paristoja.
• Jos paristot vuotavat, vältä ihokontaktia. Se
johtaa ihon ärtymiseen.
• Jos paristo on vuotanut paristojen yleislaturiin,
puhdista laite kuivalla liinalla. Käytä käsineitä!
Käyttöönotto
• Tarkasta toimituksen täydellisyys ennen
käyttöönottoa ja tarkasta laite mahdollisten
näkyvien vaurioiden varalta.
• Aseta paristojen yleislaturi suoralle, tasaiselle,
raapiutumattomalle ja liukumattomalle alustalle.
Huomaa:
Tämä laite on varustettu liukumattomilla kumijaloilla.
Koska huonekalujen pinnat on valmistettu erilaisista
materiaaleista ja niitä käsitellään mitä erilaisimmilla
hoitotuotteilla, ei voida sulkea täysin pois sitä, että
joidenkin näiden aineiden ainesosat vahingoittavat
ja pehmittävät kumijalkoja. Aseta tarvittaessa laitteen jalkojen alle liukumaton alusta.
• Vertaa teknisiä tietoja sähkölaitoksenne tietoihin.
Jos ne vastaavat toisiaan, liitä virtajohto
pistorasiaan. Merkkivalot vilkkuvat kolmasti keltaisena. Paristojen yleislaturi on nyt käyttövalmis.
Paristojen lataaminen
Vaara!
Lataa ainoastaan uudelleen ladattavia „Ni-Cd“- ja
„Ni-MH“-paristoja. Älä koskaan lataa muun tyyppisiä paristoja tai kertakäyttöisiä paristoja. Nämä eivät sovellu ladattavaksi. Muutoin paristojen yleislaturi ja siihen asetetut paristot/akut saattavat
vaurioitua täysin. On olemassa tulipalon vaara sekä
räjähdysvaara!

Ohje:
Varmista, että paristot asetetaan lataustilojen
lokeroihin niiden napaisuuden mukaan. Muuten
paristot eivät lataudu.
• Aseta paristot lataustiloihin.
• Paina 9 V:n paristot lataustiloihin niin, että ne lukittuvat kuuluvasti paikoilleen.
Voidaan ladata yksilöllisesti 1–8 paristoa:
• 4 x C-tyypin tai D-tyypin paristoa lataustiloissa
1–4, lisäksi
2 x 9 voltin paristoa lataustiloissa 5 ja 6,
tai
• 6 x AA-tyypin tai AAA-tyypin paristoa
lataustiloissa 14, lisäksi
2 x 9 voltin paristoa lataustiloissa 5 ja 6.
• Lataustapahtuma alkaa nyt. Paristojen
yleislaturissa on jokaista lataustilan lokeroa
varten oma LED-merkkivalonsa. Kulloisenkin
lataustilan merkkivalot osoittavat yksittäisten
paristojen lataustilan.
• Ensimmäisten 5 sekunnin aikana paristojen
yleislaturi suorittaa kapasiteetin pikatestauksen:
- Lataustilan merkkivalo palaa oranssina:
kapasiteetti 20%–80%.
- Lataustilan merkkivalo palaa punaisena:
kapasiteetti alle 20%.
- Lataustilan merkkivalo palaa vihreänä:
apasiteetti yli 80%.
Kun pariston kapasiteetti on todettu, alkaa
ataustapahtuma.
Eri näytöillä on seuraavat merkitykset:
Merkkivalo palaa vuorotellen punaisena ja
vihreänä:
Paristojen latausta puretaan kork. 10 minuutin
ajan (Refresh-uudelleenvaraustoiminto).
LED-valo vilkkuu vihreällä:
Akut varautuvat impulssilatauksella n. 3 minuutin ajaksi latausvirran ollessa tällöin heikompi.
Merkkivalo palaa jatkuvasti punaisena:
Paristoja ladataan.
Merkkivalo palaa jatkuvasti vihreänä:
Paristot on ladattu täyteen.
Merkkivalo vilkkuu punaisena:
Laitteeseen asetetut paristot eivät ole
lataustiloissa oikein tai paristot ovat viallisia.
Ohje:
Jos uloimmissa lataustiloissa ladataan C- tai
D-tyypin paristoja, käyttötila osoitetaan kulloinkin sisemmällä merkkivalolla.
Varoitus!
Paristot voivat kuumentua latauksen aikana. Irrota
siksi latauksen jälkeen ensiksi paristojen yleislaturin
virtajohto pistorasiasta. Anna paristojen sitten jäähtyä, ennen kuin otat ne paristojen yleislaturista.
Älä koskaan koske kuumiin paristoihin!
On olemassa palamisvaara!
• Irrota paristojen yleislaturin virtajohto
pistorasiasta ja anna paristojen jäähtyä.
Lopuksi voit ottaa ladatut paristot paristojen
yleislaturista.

Paristojen tyypistä, iästä ja jäämälatauksesta
riippuen lataustapahtuman kesto vaihtelee. Keskimääräiset latausajat näet seuraavasta taulukosta.
Huomaa kuitenkin, että nämä ajat ovat vain suuntaa
antavia.

„Miinus Delta U“ tarkoittaa tässä tapauksessa
negatiivista jänniteeroa.
Tämä latauksen lopetuksen tunnistus hyödyntää
seuraavaa tapahtumaa:
Jos paristoa ladataan tasaisella virralla, sen jännite
nousee jatkuvasti. Kun paristo on täynnä, sen jännite
saavuttaa kuitenkin huippunsa ja laskee pariston
saadessa lisävirtaa jälleen lievästi. Latauselektroniikka tunnistaa tämän lievän jännitteen laskun ja lataus
lopetetaan. Paristojen yleislaturi kytkeytyy automaattisesti „ylläpitolataukselle“. Tämä tarkoittaa, ettei
akkuparistoja enää ladata kestovirralla, vaan lyhyillä sähköimpulsseilla. Näin estetään akkuparistojen
itsenäinen purkautuminen ja ne säilyvät täysin
ladatussa tilassa.
