Introduction
Read th is manual th oro ughly before op erati ng o r servici ng this unit.
Warnings, Cautions, and Notices
Safety ad visories appear through out this m anual as req uir ed. Your p ersonal saf ety and t he pr oper oper ation o f this m achine depend upon the st rict ob servance of these precautions.
The thr ee types of advi sories are defined as f ollow s:
WARNING
Proper Field Wiring and Grounding Required!
Failure to follow code could result in death or serious injury. All field wiring MUST be performed by qualified personnel. Improperly installed and grounded field wiring poses FIRE and ELECTROCUTION hazards. To avoid these hazards, you MUST follow requirement s for field wiring installation and grounding as described in NEC and your local/ state/ nat ional electrical codes.
WARNING
CAUTIONs
NOTICE
Indicates a pot entially hazard ous situation w hich, if n ot avoided, could result in death or serious injury .
Indicates a pot entially hazard ous si
tuation w hich, if no t avoided, cou ld result in m i nor or m oder ate inju ry. It could also be used to alert against unsafe practices.
Ind icates a si tuat ion that coul d resul t in equipm en t or pr operty -dam age only accident s.
Important Environmental Concerns
Scienti fic research has shown that certain m an-m ade chem i cals can affect th e eart h’s natu rally occurring strato spheric ozone lay er w hen released to the atm osph ere. In particular, several of the identified chem icals that m ay affect the ozone layer are refrigerants that contain Chlor ine, Fluor ine and Carb on (CFCs) and those cont aining Hydrogen, Chlor ine, Fluorine and Carbon (HCFCs). No t all refrigeran ts containi ng these com pounds have th e sam e potenti al im pact to th e envir onm ent. Trane advocates the resp onsible handling of all refr iger ants-includi ng ind ustry replacem ents for CFCs and HCFCs such as saturated or unsaturated HFCs and HCFCs.
Important Responsible Refrigerant Practices
Trane believes t hat respo nsible refrigerant practices are im portant t o the env ironm ent, our custom ers, and the air conditioning industry. All technicians w ho handle refri gerants must be certified according to local r ules. For the USA , the Federal Clean Air Act (Section 608) set s forth th e requir emen ts for h andl ing, recl aimin g, recover ing and recycling of certain refrigerant s and the eq uipm ent that is used in these service p rocedur es. In addit ion, some states or m uni cipalities m ay hav e additio nal requirement s that must also be adhered to for resp onsible m anagem en t of refri gerants. Know the applicable law s and follow them .
WARNING
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Required!
Failure to wear proper PPE for the job being undertaken could result in death or serious injury. Technicians, in order to protect them selves from potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical hazards, MUST follow precautions in this manual and on the tags, stickers, and labels, as w ell as the instructions below :
Before installing/ servicing this unit, technicians MU
ST put on all PPE required for t he w ork being undertaken (Examples; cut resistant gloves/sleeves, butyl gloves, safety glasses, hard hat/ bump cap, fall protection, electrical PPE and arc flash clothing). ALWAYS refer to appropriate Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and OSHA guidelines for proper PPE.
When w orking with or around hazardous chemicals, WAYS refer t o the appropriate SDS and OSHA/
AL GHS (Global Harmonized System of Classificat ion and Labeling of Chemicals) guidelines for information on allowable personal exposure levels, proper respiratory protection and handling instructions.
If there is a risk of energized electrical contact, arc,
flash, technicians MUST put on all PPE in accordance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, or other country-specific requirement s for arc flash protection, PRIOR to servicing the unit. NEVER PERFORM ANY SWITCHING, DISCONNECTIN G, OR VOLTAGE TESTING WITHOUT PROPER ELECTRICAL PPE AND ARC FLASH CLOTHING. ENSURE ELECTRICAL METERS AND EQUIPMENT ARE PROPERLY RATED FOR INTENDED VOLTAGE.

Follow EHS Policies!
Failure to follow instructions below could result in death or serious injury.
All Trane personnel must follow the company’s E
nvironmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies when performing work such as hot w ork, electrical, fall protection, lockout/ tagout, refrigerant handling, etc. Where local regulations are more stringent than these policies, those regulations supersede these policies.
