TPlink TL-WR941ND

TP-Link is a China-based company that
specialises in networking products since

1996. and is currently one of the leading
manufacturers in China. The TL-WR941 ND is
a wireless N router that is very competitively
priced and worth a look at. Physically though,
it

isn't much to look at. The styling is kind of

traditional, and not quite in keeping with

the blacks and silvers that are so prevalent

now.

This however, belies the router's usefulness

as a functional tool. The configuration menu

impressed me with its simplicity, and more

importantly, with an accompanying guide

obviously written for beginners that appears
on the side of the screen. The guide explains
with

some

detail the various terminologies
and functions that the current screen is
displaying, which I believe will be useful at
times even for the more seasoned users.

The 941 ND adopts MIMO (multiple-

input and multiple-output), as well as SST
and CCA (trademarked technologies), which
are supposed to promote high wireless

transmission performance in long distance
and high interference environments. It also
supports one-touch QSS (Quick Secure Setup),
and supports standard security measures
from WEP right up to WPA2. However, the
941 NO is fairly sparse in terms of additional
easter eggs; you will not see features such
as bittorrent support and the like. Likewise,
we noticed that it has no Gigabit LAN which

would have been nice to have, since the
purpose of getting wireless N is to maximise
transfer speeds.

That being said, the router performed
fairly well in terms of speed and there's not
much more we can ask from a router of
this class; it will be ideal for those who are
looking for a high speed wireless setup on a
