PREPARATION
1. Before beginning the installation, thoroughly clean the vehicle to remove dirt and contaminants that might
get into the hydraulic circuit.
2. Park the vehicle on a clean, level oor with adequate clearance to work around.
3. Do not attempt to loosen any hydraulic ttings while the engine is running.
4. Allow the motor and the hydraulics to cool until it is no more than warm to the touch before proceeding.
5. Prior to loosening any hydraulic ttings, be sure to have the appropriate plugs and caps available in order
to limit loss of hydraulic uid from the open ttings.
6. Raise the hood to allow access to the hydraulic system.
PREVENT HYDRAULIC SYSTEM CONTAMINATION. It is essential to thoroughly clean hydraulic
system ttings and hose connections prior to disconnecting or removing them. Use a spray
cleaner such as “Brake Clean” to prevent hydraulic system contamination. Note that o-rings used
on ORB and ORFF type ttings may be damaged by solvent cleaners such as “Brake Clean”. If a tting is to
be cleaned internally, the o-ring should rst be removed and cleaned with a berless cloth.
TO AVOID EXCESS LEAKAGE, DO NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE THE
FITTINGS ON THE MANUAL STEERING VALVE ARE DISCONNECTED.
WARNING: HOT, HIGH PRESSURE FLUID HAZARD. Hydraulic oil may be hot and under
extreme pressure. To prevent serious injury or death, relieve system pressure and allow the
system to cool before repairing or disconnecting. Wear proper hand and eye protection when
searching for leaks, using wood or cardboard instead of hands. Keep all hydraulic components in good repair.
WARNING: PINCH POINT HAZARD! To prevent serious injury or death, avoid unsafe practice
while manually operating hydraulic steering circuits. Keep others away and stay clear of
mechanical steering linkages.

INSTALLATION
If there are questions concerning the installation of the FieldPilot system on this vehicle, or due to
the changes in component specications the parts supplied in the kit are not exactly as presented
in this document, please contact your dealer or TeeJet Customer service representative for
clarication before installation. TeeJet Technologies is not responsible for misuse or incorrect installation of
the system.
NOTE: BE VERY CAREFUL TO ABSOLUTELY SECURE ALL CABLES AND HOSES SO THAT THEY
DON’T INTERFERE WITH THE MANY MOVING PARTS OF THE MACHINE!
1. PrePare the FieldPilot ValVe
Make sure the FieldPilot valve (F) is clean and free of dust. Work on a clean bench. Remove the plastic
plugs and install adapter (AA) in the T port. Install adapter (Y) in the B port. Install adapter (X) in the B port
and then install adapter (W) onto adapter (X). Install adapter (CC) in the P and EF ports.

5. install counterBalance ValVe Mounting Bracket
On the right side of the machine on the frame, locate the existing threaded hole. Use parts (J & K) to
mount the bracket (P) on the inside of the frame.
Use four (4) of (B), two (2) of (D), and two (2) of (M) to mount the Counterbalance Valve (G) to the bracket
(P) as shown.
Figure 1-7: Mount the Counterbalance Valve
7. install Pressure hoses and adaPters
The FieldPilot valve will receive pressure from the line that feeds the orbital and then the EF from the
FieldPilot valve will route to the orbital. Disconnect the IN line from the orbital and install the 90° adapter (Z)
on both the line and the tting in the orbital. Connect hose (U) from the IN line to the P port on the FieldPilot
valve. The hose should route to the right and then around between the engine and cab over to the FieldPilot
valve.

9. install the tank hose and adaPter
Disconnect the OUT line on the orbital. Install run tee (V) and reconnect the original OUT line to the run of
the tee. Install adapter (Z) onto the branch of the run tee. Connect hose (R) to adapter (Z) and route it to
the T port of the FieldPilot valve. The hose should route to the right and then around between the engine and
cab over to the FieldPilot valve.

10. reroute the original steer hoses
The original steering hoses will need to connect to the V1 and V2 ports of the Counterbalance Valve.
Disconnect the steering hoses at the steering cylinder and route them to the V1 and V2 ports of the
Counterbalance valve. Connect the hose from the left port of the steering cylinder to V1 and connect the
hose from the right port of the steering cylinder to V2.

12. install FieldPilot steering hoses
The FieldPilot steering hoses will route from the FieldPilot valve to the branch of the run tees (V) installed
in Step 11. Connect hose (T) to the branch of the run tee on the left port of the steering cylinder and route
it to the B port of the FieldPilot valve. Connect hose (T) to the branch of the run tee on the right port of the
steering cylinder and route it to the A port of the FieldPilot valve.

12a. oPtional install FieldPilot steering hoses
As an option to installing the run tees (V) at the steering cylinder, they may be installed on the C1 and C2
ports of the Counterbalance valve. The FieldPilot steering hoses (T) would then route from FieldPilot valve
to the run tees (V) at the Counterbalance valve.
The steering disengage kit (EE) is used to automatically disengage FieldPilot when the steering wheel is
turned. The magnets mount on the steering shaft or other rotating part of the steering wheel and the sensor
mounts so that there is a 1/8” clearance between the sensor and magnet.
Remove any shields around the steering shaft in the cab. Locate the existing hole as shown. Use one (1)
of (B), one (1) of (D), and one (1) of (E) to mount the bracket from kit (EE). The magnets will need to be
cut in half. Three (3) should be attached to the steering shaft. Install the sensor from kit (EE) and set its
clearance at 1/8 inch from the magnets.
Connect item (A) to the connector on the SCM harness labeled Remote Engage/Disengage. Install the push
button in a location that is easily accessible during operation of the machine. This switch (A) is not required
if the optional foot switch 32-04020 is used.
Figure 1-16: Engage/Disengage Switch
15. recoMMended electronics installation
The Steering Control Module (SCM) should be mounted securely to the oor of the cab as far forward in the
cab as possible.
NOTE: There are wires under the floor mat so be sure that the SCM mounting does not damage them.
The control console can be mounted to the operator’s preference. The GPS antenna should be mounted
near the nose of the vehicle on a metal surface of at least 4” square.

16. VeriFY oPeration oF hYdraulics
and set the steering control rate
Clean and pick up the area around the vehicle and make certain that it is safe to operate. Start the engine
and check hydraulic connections for leaks. Rotate the steering wheel from one extreme to the other and back
to center, check for leaks. While steering through the extremes of movement, check the cables and hoses for
wear points and strain, adjust as necessary.
The nal oil ow rate adjustment is accomplished through the Matrix console.
The target lock to lock time is 5 seconds. Refer to the Matrix manual for further
instructions.
Use the electronic steering control console to perform the left to right steering test, counting the seconds
to move the wheels from full left to full right and also in the opposite direction. It is a good idea to have the
vehicle moving forward very slowly during these tests so there is not excessive side pressure on the tires.
If you nd that the machine steers in the opposite direction from that being commanded in this steering test
sequence, switch the valve connectors at the FieldPilot valve coils.
NOTE: To activate the manual overrides, a tool such as a small screwdriver or allen wrench must be inserted
into the end of the coil to depress the override button.
WARNING: PINCH POINT HAZARD! To prevent serious injury or death, avoid unsafe practice
while manually operating hydraulic steering circuits. Keep others away and stay clear of
mechanical steering linkages.
17. coMPlete electronic installation
Refer to the owner’s manual supplied with the automated steering system to complete the electronic
installation and setup.
