Sunbeam’s Safety Precautions.
Sunbeam are very safety conscious when designing and manufacturing consumer products, but it is essential that the product user also exercise care when using an electrical appliance. Listed below are precautions which are essential for the safe use of an electrical appliance:
• Read carefully and save all the instructions provided with an appliance.
• Always turn the power off at the power outlet before you insert or remove a plug. Remove by grasping the plug - do not pull on the cord.
• Turn the power off and remove the plug when the appliance is not in use and before cleaning.
• Do not use your appliance with an extension cord unless this cord has been checked and tested by a qualified technician or service person.
• Always use your appliance from a power outlet of the voltage (A.C. only) marked on the appliance.
• Close supervision is necessary when your appliance is being used near children or infirm persons.
• Never leave an appliance unattended while in use.
• Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• Do not use an appliance for any purpose other than its intended use.
• Do not place an appliance on or near a hot gas flame, electric element or on a heated oven. Do not place on top of any other appliance.
• Do not let the power cord of an appliance hang over the edge of a table or bench top or touch any hot surface.
• For safety reasons and to avoid maintenance by unskilled persons, some appliances are ‘sealed’ using tamperproof screws. Such appliances should always be returned to the nearest Sunbeam Appointed Service Centre for adjustment or repair if required.
• Do not operate any electrical appliance with a damaged cord or after the appliance has been dropped or damaged in any manner. If damage is suspected, return the appliance to the nearest Sunbeam Appointed Service Centre for examination, repair or adjustment.
• For additional protection, Sunbeam recommend the use of a residual current device (RCD) with a tripping current not exceeding 30mA in the electrical circuit supplying power to your appliances.
• Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid unless recommended.
• Always use extreme care when handling the slicing and grating blades. These are extremely sharp and may cause injury if handled incorrectly.
• Unplug from power outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off attachments, and before cleaning.
• Avoid contact with moving parts at all times. Keep hands, hair and clothing, as well as spatulas or any other utensils, away from the food chute and cutting discs during operation.
• Always use the food pusher to feed the food through the food chute. Never stick your fingers into the food chute.
• Always make sure the safety latches on the main body are properly affixed to the bowl before operation. As a safety feature the unit will not operate unless the safety latches are locked into place.
• Turn the control switch to the ‘Off’ position before unplugging.
• All blades and attachments should be removed with care before cleaning.
• Always remove the blade before emptying the processor bowl of its contents.

Assembling the SaladExpress
1. Hold the cover of the SaladExpress upside down, or place it upside down on a dry surface.

Your Sunbeam SaladExpress has a wide array of uses; the only limit is your imagination. Here are a few handy tips and suggestions:
• Always look for firm and bright coloured fruit and vegetables.
• Fruit and vegetables should have a pleasant odour, do not use if bruised, or blemished or have a rotten smell.
• Always wash and clean fruit and vegetables before grating and slicing.
• Make sure to prepare fruit and vegetables for slicing and grating.
• Cut fruit and vegetables to size to fit the food chute. Peel, trim or de-seed fruit and vegetables, if necessary.
• Avoid cross contamination of foods.
• If making a mixed salad, always cut fruit’s first, than vegetables and meats last.
• If slicing or grating individual foods for a recipe always slice or grate that food than wash blades and bowl before slicing or grating the next fruit, vegetable and or meat.
• We recommend not grating or slicing hard or soft cheeses, and or fatty meats such as salami, and or Devon.
• Do not force the food down the food chute, as this will cause the machine to stall and stop working.
• Always use the food pusher when using the slicing or grating function.
• Use the grating disc to grate cabbage and carrots for salads and stirfry’s.
• Using the slicing disc, slice mushrooms, capsicums and onions for a quick and zesty omelette.
• Grate or slice hard boiled eggs for salads and dips.
• Slice turkey and or other cooked meats for salads or an antipasto platter.
• Slice lettuce, olives, capiscum and chilli peppers for taco toppings and Mexican dishes.
• Slice potatoes for chips or grate them for a delicious potato bake, hash browns or potato pancakes.
• Grate carrots for carrot cake and or muffins.
• Grate fresh coconut for biscuits and cakes, or use in curries, salad’s and or stirfry’s.
• Slice radishes, zucchini, celery and other vegetables for hors d’oeuvres, vegetable trays, soups, and roasts.
