Owner’s Record
The model and serial numbers are located on the bottom. Record the serial number in the space provided below. Refer to these numbers whenever you call upon your Sony dealer regarding the camcorder.

Fully charging the battery pack takes approximately 245 minutes when
connected to a computer or approximately 155 minutes when using the AC-UD10 AC Adaptor (sold separately).
When you use a fully charged battery pack, available recording time is
approximately 130 minutes (continuous recording time) or 75 minutes (typical recording time), or available playback time is approximately 210 minutes (at default settings).

To eject the memory card, push it in lightly once. microSD memory cards, microSDHC memory cards, microSDXC memory
cards and “Memory Stick Micro”(Mark2) media are compatible with the camcorder.
Operation with all memory cards is not assured.

When you turn on the power for the first time, the date and time setting
screen is displayed. Configure settings using the multi-selector.
The camcorder can record MP4 movies. Noise may be recorded when recording by holding the camcorder because
it is equipped with a high-sensitivity microphone.
The LCD screen will be dark during recording (at default settings).
Multi-selector
Select by moving multi­selector in directions show by arrows, then finalize by pressing center.
Playback
Turn on the camcorder by pressing the POWER
button.

Transferring movies to your smartphone (Wi-Fi)
Install the application on your smartphone.

Android 2.3 or later (Android 4.0 or later if using NFC)
Search for and install PlayMemories Mobile from Google play.
iOS 4.3 or later (NFC is not available.)
Search for and install PlayMemories Mobile from App Store.

If PlayMemories Mobile is already installed in your smartphone,
update the software to the latest version.
This application is not guaranteed to work on all smartphones and
tablets.
The operation methods and display screens for the application are
subject to change without notice by future upgrades.
The information on supported OS versions is current as of
September 1, 2013.
Select a movie on the camcorder that you want
to transfer, and then transfer it by connecting to

your smartphone.
When connecting to an Android device compatible with NFC.
Play back a movie on the camcorder that you want to
transfer to your smartphone.
Start the [Setting] menu and select [Other settings]
on your smartphone, and confirm that [NFC] is enabled.
Touch (N mark) on the camcorder with (N mark)
on your smartphone.
When connecting without using NFC.
Enter the playback mode on the camcorder, and
select  [Edit/Copy]  [Send to Smartphone]  [Select on This Device].
Select the image you want to transfer, and add
mark, and then select .
The SSID and the password are displayed, and the camcorder is ready for connection from your smartphone.
On your smartphone, select the SSID that is displayed
on the camcorder, and then enter the password.
Android device:
1 Start up PlayMemories Mobile, and then select the
SSID that is displayed on the camcorder.
2 Enter the password that is displayed on the
camcorder (first time only).
iPhone:
1 On your smartphone, select [Wi-Fi] in the settings
menu, and then select the SSID that is displayed on the camcorder.
2 Enter the password that is displayed on the
camcorder (first time only).
3 Confirm that the SSID is selected. 4 Start up PlayMemories Mobile.
Using your smartphone as a remote commander (Wi-Fi)
Select on the recording screen of the
camcorder.

The SSID and the password are displayed on the camcorder, and the camcorder is ready for connection from your smartphone.
On your smartphone, select the SSID that is
displayed on the camcorder, and then enter the

password.
Perform the same procedure as in step of “Transferring movies to your smartphone (Wi­Fi)”/“When connecting without using NFC.” If you want to use NFC, enter the recording screen, and then touch (N mark) on the camcorder with (N mark) on your smartphone.
Operate your smartphone.

Recommended functions
To adjust the recording sound level of the built­in microphones
Select on the recording screen.
To reduce low frequency sound such as that of air conditioners.
Select  [Camera/Audio]  [ Audio]  [Low Cut
Filter]
[On].
To monitor sounds
Plug headphones into the (headphones) jack. To adjust the volume, select
on the recording screen.
To synchronize the image on the LCD screen with the sound being monitored.
Select  [Camera/Audio]  [ Audio]  [Audio Output Timing]
[Lip Sync].
To use MTR (Multi Track Recorder) or an external microphone (sold separately)
Connect an MTR or external microphone to
LINE IN jack
of the camcorder. When the [Ext. Audio Input Set] screen appears, select the device you want to connect.
To record only sounds
Select  [Recording Mode]  [Audio].
To change the audio recording format
Select  [Camera/Audio]  [ Audio]  [Audio Format], and then select the desired format.
To change the movie recording mode
Select  [Image Quality/Size]  [ and then select [1080] (1920x1080 30p) or [720] (1280x720 30p).

To record without worrying about the battery level
Connect the AC-UD10 AC Adaptor (sold separately) to the camcorder with the battery installed.
Notes on use
Notes on using your camcorder
It is recommended to format the memory card with the
camcorder before the first use.
Confirm the direction of the memory card. If you forcibly insert
the memory card in the wrong direction, the memory card, memory card slot, or contents data may be damaged.
Compensation for the contents of recordings cannot be
provided, even if recording or playback is not possible due to a malfunction of the camcorder, recording media, etc.
During periods of extended recording, the temperature of
the camcorder may rise to a point where recording stops automatically. With the power is turned off, leave the camcorder for 10 minutes or longer to allow the temperature inside to decrease to a safe level.
Under high ambient temperatures, the temperature of the
camcorder rises quickly.
When the temperature of the camcorder rises, the image
quality may deteriorate. It is recommended that you wait until the temperature of the camcorder drops before continuing to record.
The surface of the camcorder may get hot. This is not a
malfunction.
Playback of contents recorded with other devices, is not assured
on the camcorder.
Use the nearby wall outlet (wall socket) when using the AC-
UD10 AC Adaptor (sold separately). Disconnect the AC Adaptor from the wall outlet (wall socket) immediately if any malfunction occurs while using the apparatus.
MP4 movies recorded with [Audio Format] set to [Linear
PCM] cannot be played back on some equipment or services, including Blu-ray Disc players (including Sony products). For detailed information, check the camcorder support page before use.

WARNING
To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock,

2) do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on the apparatus. Do not expose the batteries to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.
CAUTION
Battery pack
If the battery pack is mishandled, the battery pack can burst, cause a fire or even chemical burns. Observe the following cautions.
Do not disassemble. Do not crush and do not expose the battery pack to any shock or force
such as hammering, dropping or stepping on it.
Do not short circuit and do not allow metal objects to come into contact
with the battery terminals.
Do not expose to high temperature above 60°C (140°F) such as in direct
sunlight or in a car parked in the sun.
Do not incinerate or dispose of in fire. Do not handle damaged or leaking lithium ion batteries. Be sure to charge the battery pack using a genuine Sony battery charger
or a device that can charge the battery pack.
Keep the battery pack out of the reach of small children. Keep the battery pack dry. Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by Sony. Dispose of used battery packs promptly as described in the instructions.
Excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones cause hearing loss.
