Control of multileaf collimator
When the system is switched on, the multileaf collimators starts with an initialization
routine. The following functions are checked during initialization:
- Function of the stepping motors
- Function of the search run switches S2, S3, S4
- Zero backlash of the mechanical system
- FOC (fiber-optic cable) connection to central control unit M9
In the servicemode, operating errors of the multileaf collimator are shown on
display V185, board D12.
After 50 exposures or 3 hours, the multileaf collimator performs in each case a new
self-calibration with the aid of a search run.
The search run switches S2, S3, S4 are operated twice.
Each time this search run has been terminated, the multileaf collimator returns into
its initial position - i.e. its position prior to the search run.

Self-test of collimator

Remove the FOC from the central control unit.
l
Actuate the DIP switches on board D12 and the RESET button on board
Dll.
The multileaf collimator executes the self-test routine.
The following functions are checked during this routine:
- Functions of transmitter and receiver FOC transmission Dll
- Functions of the multileaf collimator lamps
- lnitialization S2; S3; S4
- Function of all displays
- Function of the control buttons

- Function of the mercury switches
- Encoder function
- Function of the error display V185
All other functions of the multileaf collimator have already been checked during the
initialization routine.
Operation
1. After the self-test: Reset the DIP switch D12 to OFF.
2. Reconnect the FOG to the central control unit.
3. Switch the system OFF and then ON again.
