A paper source or combinat ion of pap er sour ces will appear in
place of "XXXX". This indicates that the paper source is not
properly installed in the m achine, or a paper jam has occurred
in that source. (Note that "UPPER" indicates the upper
cassette and "LOWE R" indicates the lower cassette if you
have two cassettes.)
A confidential transmission ha s been denied becaus e you
entered an incorrect mailbox numbe r for a machine with
mailboxes.
Confidential recept ion was cancelled because the m ailbox
number specif ie d by the tra nsm it ting machine is not
program m ed in your fax.
COVER OPEN The operation panel is open. Close it.
DRUM LIFE OVER The drum cartridge mus t be replaced.

The memory is full. See "Dual access" in "Sending
Documents" in Chapter 3.
Confidential transmission was cance lled because the receiving
machine does not have a confide nt ial function , a confid ent ia l
passcode is not program med in it, its memo ry is full, or it is not
a Sharp model.
This message will be followed by one or more of the paper
sources in parenthes es ("UPPER " indicates the up per
cassette and "LOWE R" indicates the lower cassette if you
have two cassettes) , and infor m s you that thos e paper so urces
are out of paper . If no paper source is indicate d, all pap er
sources are out of paper .

A relay request has been denied bec ause the other machine
does not have a relay broa dcas t function , its mem or y is full, or
it is not a Sharp machine.

machines. See "Relay Broadcast" in "Relay Reque st" in
Chapt er 4.

CLEARING PAPER JAMS
Clearing a jammed document
If a document doesn’t feed through the scanner properly during transmission or
copying, or DOCUMENT JAM appears in the display, first try pressing the START
key. If the document doesn’t come out of the feeder, open the operation panel by
squeezing the operation panel release on the right side of the operation panel
(marked "PULL OPEN"), and gently pull out document.
Clearing jammed printing paper
If the printing paper jams, PAPER JAM will appear in the display. Follow the steps
below to clear the jam.
1 If the leadin g edge o f the docu men t is
protruding from the printer
compartment outl et, try pulling it out.
•• If you are unable to clear the paper jam
in this way, continue with the following
steps.
2 Open the printer cover and remove
the toner cartridge and drum
cartridge.
•• Caution! The ribs on the bottom of the
inside of the printer cover become very
hot during printing. Be careful not to
touch them.
