Introduction

The APC

TM

by Schn eider Electric Smart-UPSTM RT is a high-performan ce, uninterrupti ble power
supply (UPS) that provides protection for electronic equipment from utility power blackouts,
brownouts, sags and surges. The UPS filters small utility line fluctuations and isolates electronic
equipment from large disturbances by internally disconnecting from utility line power. The UPS
provides continuous power from the internal battery until utility power returns to safe levels or the
battery is fully discharged.

Unpacking

Insp ect the UPS upon receip t. Notif y th e car rier and dealer i f there is dam age.
The packaging is recyclable; save it for reuse or dispose of it properly.

Wiring and Connecting the UPS

The serial connector i s t o be used for interfaci n g wi th A PC PowerChute
softwa re and ter minal emulation soft wa re.

Use only cables approved by APC.
Any other interface cable will be incompatible with the UPS

conn ect or.

Manual bypass enables the user t o manually put connect ed equipment into
bypass mode.

Emergency Power Off terminal allows the user to connect the UPS to the
central EPO system.

The UPS feat ures a tr ansien t vol tage surge-su ppressi on ( TVSS) screw for
connectin g the gr ound lead on surge suppre s s ion de vices such as teleph one
and network l i ne pr otect ors.

When connecting grounding cable, disconnect the unit from the utility
power outlet.

Opti onal external batt ery packs provide extended run time during power
outages. These units support up to ten external battery packs.
