Maintenance
• Scheduled cleanings are highly recommended to avoid troublesome operation caused by paper dust and adhesive residue
• Clean print head with a soft, dry toothbrush
• Do not use lubricants or detergents to clean your Handheld Labeler
• Do not re-ink used ink roller
• Do not place the tool, label or ink roller in a high humidity environment or above 40°C/104°F
Troubleshooting
Labels are not properly fed
Squeeze the trigger rmly and completely
• Re-load labels according to the instructions in this guide
Conrm that you are using genuine SATO labels
• Be sure the tools have been properly maintained
• Check to see if the labels are damp
No print appears on the labels
• Use a new ink roller
• Squeeze the tool handle lever completely to print a label
Use genuine SATO ink rollers
Push pointer back rmly to it’s original positon
There are dots and dust spots on labels
• Clean the application roller and printhead to remove any stray ink and dust

Handheld Labeling Solutions
Lift the label roll cover by gently pressing in on the marked grips
and lifting up.

Turn the tool over and lift up on the marked tab on the tool’s door to open up the bottom.

After opening the door, gently
lift the pressure plate and pull to
open up the entire tool.

Take the roll of labels and
remove one round, eliminating any glue simplifying the loading
process.

Gently feed the labels through
the tool from the top.

The labels will slide through
the tool and come out from the
bottom.

Once loaded, pinch the levers on
either side of the tool and slide
the label roll into place. Release
the levers, tightly close the label
roll cover.

After closing the cover, ip the tool upside down. Pull the
labels out about 6”, aligning the
labels within the guide. Tightly close the pressure plate.

Pull the labels back, towards the tool handle, making sure to align the tabs of the labels with
the knobs on the reel.

Close the door on the bottom of the tool by gently lifting the door while pushing it down into
place. The tool is now ready to use.

Loading Label Rolls
At the front of the
tool, pinch the top, ribbed lever together with the
lower lever.

Tilt the assembly
back and lift up to remove from the
tool.

Gently slide the ink roller free from the
assembly.

Slide the fresh ink roller into place, making sure the arrow
indicators align.

Pinching the levers of the assembly together, slide the
assembly into place.

Once in position,
release the levers and the assembly
will snap into place.

Replacing Ink Roller
Pull the pointer in or out as required and rotate to select
print character.

Push the pointer back to its
original position.

Setting Print Characters
SATO’s PB2 Series of handheld labelers are equipped
with commonly used expressions, larger font size and
a wide-open path for easy label loading. The PB2 Series is intuitive to operate and user friendly.
