Since the very beginning, Roland has been at the forefront of digital
piano development and design. Today Roland proudly announces
another bar-raising achievement: the RD-SX series. With every note
of world-class grand pianos sampled at a variety of velocity levels,
and with ultra-authentic 88-note Progressive Hammer-Action
keyboards, these instruments redefine the state of the art in
digital stage pianos. Play, hear, believe!
DIGITAL PIANOS
Driven by Roland’s most powerful processing engine, the RD-700SX
provides two complete 88-note world-class concert grand pianos, each
with individual multisamples for every key, and recorded at a variety
of velocity levels. The RD-700SX also contains authentic electric
piano and virtual Tonewheel organ instruments, as well as an entire
GM2 sound set. Load and Play Standard MIDI files with the built-in
MIDI File player. Onboard Rhythm and Arpeggiator functions are
provided as well.
The RD-700SX is equipped with Roland’s authentic Progressive
Hammer-Action Keyboard, which provides a lighter touch in the upper
range and a heavier touch in the lower
range. Combined with a true hammer
action, the keyboard offers an incredibly
natural response.
Shape your sound with the powerful twin multi-effects engines onboard
the RD-700SX. Among the many effects types are reverb, chorus,
multi-band compression, and 3-band parametric EQ with adjustable
frequency, Q and gain for custom-tailored sound.
With Roland’s most powerful processing engine at its core, the RD-300SX
is a portable stage piano with heavyweight specs. Sharing much in
common with its high-end sibling, the RD-700SX, the RD-300SX offers
128-voice polyphony, 88-note individually sampled grand piano waveforms,
and hundreds of additional sounds and rhythms — from Jazz to Techno.
Its Compact Progressive Hammer-Action Keyboard plays like a real grand.

controls. Dedicated buttons and knobs are
provided for instant access to your favorite piano sound, EQ settings, and
dual/split keyboard setups. No searching through menus or submenus to
find the most common functions; everything you need is within quick
reach. Thanks to the handy SETUP mode, you can quickly store and recall
parameter changes. A pitch bend/modulation lever has been added for
expressive control. Operation is clean and streamlined so you can focus on
playing, not programming.
With 78 multi-effects types onboard, plus
independent effects such as compression and
reverb, the RD-300SX delivers quality sounds and
textures that range from smooth and lush to
high-impact punch.
It has an impressive, heavy-duty metallic appearance, but the RD-300SX is
actually the lightest 88-note piano in its class. At less than 35 pounds, it’s
ultra easy to transport — yet built tough enough for the rigors of the road.
Connect the RD-300SX to computers and other external devices
via USB port for one-cable MIDI communication. Standard MIDI
in/out ports connectors are provided as well.

With its large buttons, sliders, and backlit LCD, the RD-700SX is a fast
and friendly instrument to pilot, especially for live performers who
need instant, fumble-free access to sounds. The ONE TOUCH PIANO and
E.PIANO buttons let you recall your favorite piano sounds and edits —
such as changes to the piano’s String Resonance and Velocity, or the
E.Piano’s Amp type. On SETUP mode, you can switch entire groups of
settings during a performance by selecting a Setup that you’ve in edited
and stored in advance; up to 100 Setups can be
stored and instantly recalled. The RD-700SX is a
performance powerhouse that’s a joy to use.
The RD-700SX is well equipped for the gigging professional. Both 1/4”
and XLR outputs provide compatibility with all popular types of mixers
and amplification systems. And for the utmost in performance
expression, the RD-700SX is equipped with inputs for damper,
sostenuto, and soft pedals. Use the tandem
MIDI outs and USB I/O for MIDI controller
and data backup/exchange.
The RD-700SX offers an impressive 474 internal tones and 14 rhythm
types, which can be expanded by adding two
optional Roland SRX boards. Choose from an
impressive lineup of SRX titles, including
Complete Orchestra, Big Brass Ensemble,
World Collection, Platinum Trax, and more.

Once a musical instrument generates sound vibrations, it reaches the human ear through various mediating objects, each of which significantly affects the
sound. The material and configuration of the instrument, the electric/electronic/magnetic amplifying system, the air and the reverberation of the room all
affect the final sound. Sound modeling, the latest DSP technology, “virtually” reconstructs these objects. Roland’s breakthrough Composite Object Sound
Modeling (COSM) uses the advantages of multiple modeling methods and succeeds in accurately emulating existing sounds, as well as producing sounds that have never before been created.
Roland’s V-LINK makes it possible to control video
clips when used with an Edirol video product like the
DV-7PR (sold separately).
