INSTALL ATION GUIDE

NOTE: Read the instructions carefully before proceeding with the actual installation.
NOTE: To avoid accidental start up of vehicle during the installation, remove both battery
cables & the battery. Securely block motorcycle in an upright position. Different models will
require the removal of exhaust, passenger footboards, etc. Remove whatever is necessary to
accomplish the installation per your OE service manual.
Using your OE manual, accomplish the following items
in figures 1-4.
Remove the saddlebags. (Figure 1)

Loosen the exhaust system so that it can be lowered to
enable access to the swingarm pivot block. (Figure 2)
Remove the passenger floorboards. (Figure 3)
Support the frame using an acceptable jack beneath
the motorcycle prior to removing the pillow blocks.

NOTE: It is best to install the StiffeyTMone side at a time to avoid losing alignment of
the rear fork with the frame.
Remove the rear fork bracket to expose the end of the rear fork shaft by removing the two hex
head bolts. (Figure 5 & 6)

You are now ready to install the StiffeyTMonto the pivot shaft. To make it a little easier to slide the
TM
Stiffey
onto the pivot shaft, we recommend applying a small amount of grease to outside of the
body as well as to the spacer. (Figure 7 & 8).

Install the Stiffey
onto the pivot shaft by aligning the offset hole in the StiffeyTMwith the offset
pivot pin in the swingarm. Push down on the StiffeyTMwith both thumbs until the StiffeyTMis fully
seated. (Figure 9, 10 & 11)
