Grip Ace™ Wiring Instructions
1.
Red wire:
Main power source of Grip Ace™ system. Must be connected to a 12 volt lead with a max 15 amp fuses. This lead is hot only when the key or power switch on motorcycle is turned on. The brake light power lead is the optimal location for this connection. This is the lead that supplies power
to
the brake light switches.
2.
Black wire:
Must be grounded to frame, negative battery terminal or a
negative lead in the wire harness.
3.
Yellow wire:
65 watts max. Two ways to connect. The first is to connect to
the wire in motorcycles harness that sends power
to
the head light hi/lo beam switch. Second and the preferable way would be to connect the. Yellow Grip Ace™ wire to the same source of power as Red wire of Grip Ace™. Then use a standard 30 amp automotive relay. Connect the head light power source that goes to Hi/Lo beam switch from motorcycle to terminal 30. Connect low beam lead that goes to low beam head light to terminal 87a, connect high beam lead that goes to the high beam head light to terminal 87, connect negative ground to terminal 86 and connect the Violet wire from Grip Ace™ to
terminal 85. This relayed way is also for custom applications. You won't go wrong!
4.
Violet wire:
Connect directly to high beam lead going to high beam head light that comes from Hi/Lo switch or connect to relay as described in yellow wire explanation.
5.
Blue wire:
Connect directly to low beam lead going to the low beam head light that comes from the Hi/Lo beam switch or connect to relay as described in yellow wire explanation.
Note:
If low beam is hard wired directly to fuse in
fuse box, then the Blue Grip Ace™ lead is not needed in this application.
6.
White wire:
Connect to the wire going to the turn signal switch that comes from turn signal flasher relay or turn signal power source for Harley® motorcycles. Use of load pack for L.E.D turn signals may not be needed. On customs connect to

terminal "L" on EP3S flasher relay.
7.
Brown wire:
Connect to the wire coming from the turn signal switch that goes to the right turn signals or stock turn signal module. For custom application connect the Brown wire directly to right turn signals.
8.
Orange wire:
Connect to the wire coming from the turn signal switch that goes to the left turn signals or stock turn signal module. For custom
application connect the Orange wire directly to left turn signals.
9.
Gray wire:
Connect to the switched brake light wire. This is the opposite of the 12 volt wire at brake light switch. This wire is only hot when the brake light is on.
10.
Green wire:
Connect to the wire coming from the starter switch that goes to
starter relay. On customs connect this wire directly to starter
relay.
Note:
some motorcycles use a negative signal from starter switch to complete the circuit when pushed. Use a relay for this application. Don't guess at this type of application.
Know
what the motorcycle requires before
proceeding!
11.
Green/Yellow wire:
Connect this wire to the wire coming from the horn switch going to the horn. Note: Some horns use a negative-signal from the horn switch. You must use a relay to activate these types of horn applications. Do not guess,
know
before proceeding!
Note:
On motorcycles with L.E.D rear marker/brake light/turn signal assembly the use of the turn signal hold feature, activated by the brake light switch, may be annulled due to the fact that L.E.D lights in the rear marker is always receiving voltage. When the brake light is
activated the volt increases which causes the L.E.D.’s to get much brighter for braking. If the Gray wire is connected to switched brake light lead, it may cause the turn signal to not self cancel. To use the self canceling feature of Grip Ace system, do not connect Gray wire. On motorcycles with stock self canceling turn signals, the Gray wire will not be used in this application. For customs the use of load pack should not be needed for L.E.D turn signals if using EP35 flasher relay. The maximum wattage that the Grip Ace system can run for headlight power is 65 watts. If your headlight is 55/65 watts and your running/ fog lights are 30 watts, then that would be 125 watts totals. Use a relay for the additional 60 watts of the running/fog lights.
