INSTALLING BATTERIES Cautions: Use only a fresh battery/battery pack of the required size and recommended type. If you will not be using the car for a week or more, remove the battery from the transmitter and the battery pack from the car. Batteries can leak chemicals that can damage electronic parts. Never leave dead or weak batteries in the car or the transmitter. Warning: Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not burn or bury them.
In the Transmitter The transmitter requires one 9-volt battery. For the best performance and longest life, we recommend a RadioShack alkaline battery.
1. Slide ON/OFF on the transmitter to OFF.
2. Press down and slide the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow to open it.
3. Place a battery in the battery compartment according to the polarity symbols
(+ and -) marked inside.
4. Close the cover and snap it shut.
Note: When the transmitter’s range decreases, replace its battery.
In The Car The car requires one 9.6-volt rechargeable battery pack for power. You must charge a rechargeable battery pack before you can use it to power your car. To charge it, follow the battery charger’s instructions.
1. Slide ON/OFF on the bottom of the car to OFF.
2. Use a coin to turn the battery compartment cover’s latches clockwise until they stop. Then lift off the cover.
3. Put the battery pack in the compartment with the battery pack’s connector on the same side as the car’s matching connector.
4. Attach the battery pack’s white connector to the car’s matching connector. Do not force them! They only fit together one way.
5. Replace the cover and turn the latches counterclockwise until they stop. Be sure the connectors and wires do not touch the car’s moving parts.
