• Use only four AA-size alkaline batteries LR6 or four AA-size lithium
batteries FR6.
• Never use manganese batteries.
• Battery life differs greatly by manufacturer.
•Battery life is greatly affected by how much you use the flash, monitor
screen and other functions, and how long you leave the power turned on.
• To prolong battery life, use the SET button to turn off the flash
whenever you are not using it.

• Installing the batteries
4 x AA Alkaline batteries are supplied with the
product.
1. Open the camera battery door by pressing
and pushing it outwards as illustrated.
2. Insert the batteries as shown, ensuring you
follow the +/- signs correctly.
3. Close the battery door by pushing it down
and then slide it towards the camera to lock.
• Turning the Camera On and Off and Setting the Date and Time
Slide the power switch to the right and release to turn the camera on.
The camera will beep once and the Operation LED will light up. Slide the
power switch again to turn the camera off.

The rst time the camera is turned on, it will directly enter the interface for
setting the Current Date and Time. Set the current date and time as shown on
Page 13.

The camera performs the following power save operations to conserve
battery power.
Auto Power Off: The camera is designed to switch off automatically to
save battery life after five minutes of inactivity.
Sleep : Automatically turns off the monitor screen after two
minutes of inactivity. Press any button to reactivate the
monitor screen.
NOTE:
Auto power off is automatically disabled under any one of the following
conditions.
• While a slideshow is playing
• While the camera’s USB port is connected to a computer or other external
device, or while the camera is being controlled by an external device
• While the AC adaptor is connected to the camera
• Checking the battery level
Check the battery power level before taking pictures.
1. Turn the camera on.
2. Check the battery status level that appears on
the camera monitor screen
Batteries have adequate power.
The battery icon turns red, batteries need
to be replaced or a warning “REPLACE
BATTERY!” will show and the camera will
automatically turn off.

Connect the adaptor as shown to power the
camera from a household power outlet.
NOTE:
Only use DC 6V, 1A center positive output adaptor.

3 Taking and Managing the Pictures

Before you take pictures, please read this note rst:

Never remove batteries, disconnect the AC adaptor from the camera, or unplug
the adaptor while a picture is being saved. Doing so will prevent the current
picture being saved and may corrupt other pictures already stored on the
camera’s internal memory or on a memory card.
• Taking a Picture

exposure, the icons and numbers on the Monitor screen turn green.

picture. Hold the camera steady. A beep
sounds when the picture has been taken and
the picture counter will decrease by one.
• Taking Macro Picture
Usually we set the Normal / Macro Selector to
Normal when the subject is 12 inches to
infinity. For subjects within 8 to 12 inches, set
the selector to Macro .
NOTE:
Red Eye and Auto Flash A mode is not available
if Macro mode is selected. They are only available
in Normal mode.
You can use the following setting to specify the maximum number of
shots that can be taken in the continuous shutter mode. Normally you can
specify a value in the range from 2 to 5.

The number of continuous pictures you can take will depend on the available
memory and resolution settings. If you try and set the number of continuous
pictures beyond the remaining memory/number of pictures, the continuous
mode will not set.

Note the following points whenever you use the viewfinder to take
pictures.
The frame that is visible inside the viewfinder indicates the picture taken
at a distance of about three metres. When the subject is closer or further
away than three metres, the picture taken will be different from what you
see inside the viewfinder frame.
• When your subject is within 8 to 12 inches, use the macro mode to take
picture. Selecting the macro mode automatically turns on the monitor
screen, slide the monitor switch to ON to take the picture.
• Turn off the monitor screen by setting the mode selector to
Macro selector to NORMAL.

Different flash setting applies to different situation:
Auto flash: The flash fires automatically as needed. Use
this setting to take most pictures.
Flash on: The flash fires for every picture. Use this setting in high-contrast
situations to provide fill-light or use it indoors in low light.
Flash off: The flash does not fire. Use this setting for outdoor pictures or
where flash is prohibited or may be distracting. Also use when
shooting toward a reflective surface, such as a window or mirror.
If you do not have enough light when using this setting, your
pictures will be too dark.
Red eye: Use this setting to avoid red glare in your subject’s eyes. The
camera fires a brief, preflash flash before the regular flash.
NOTE:
• Red Eye and Auto Flash A mode are not available if Macro mode is selected. They
are only available in Normal mode.
• Never touch or block the ash or the exposure sensor with your ngers. Doing so can soil
these components and interfere with correct ash operation.

Smaller size pictures and normal quality are easier to email while larger
size and fine quality are better for printing.
