RADIO

Radio reception
• Set the TAPE/CD/RADIO selector 6 to
RADIO. The POWER, indicator 5 lights up.
• Adjust the sound with the controls
VOLUME 4, and TONE 7.
• Select the wave band using BAND
selector 11.
•Tune to a radio station using TUNING knob 9.
(LWnot on all versions)
-For FM, pull out the telescopic aerial. To improve FM-reception, incline and turn the aerial. Reduce its length if the FM-signal is too strong (very close to a transmitter).
-For AM/MW and LW (Medium and Long Wave), the set is provided with a built-in aerial, so there is no need to use the telescopic aerial. The aerial can be directed by turning the whole set.
•When BAND selector 11 is in position FM and the FM STEREO 10 indicator lights up, you are receiving a FM-stereo transmitter. A disturbing noise, due to a weak FM-stereo signal, can be suppressed by setting the FM-MODE selector 1 to MONO. The FM STEREO 10 indicator will then go out and you will hear (and record) the FM programme in mono.
•To switch off the set, place TAPE/CD/RADIO selector 6 to TAPE.

CD PLAYER

Playing a disc
• Set TAPE/CD/RADIO selector 6 to CD. The POWER, indicator 5 lights up.
• Press CD OPEN to open the disc cover.
• Insert the disc, printed side facing the window.
• Close the cover. The CD-player starts and the number of tracks present on the disc appears on the display 3 and the CD-player stops.
• Adjust the sound with the controls VOLUME 4, and TONE 7.
• Playback will start by pressing PLAY/PAUSE HI 8. As soon as playback starts, the display shows the track number 1 (1 st title). When the 2 nd title is reached, the track number 2 appears, etc.
• For brief interruptions, press PLAY/PAUSE Ml 8. 'PAUSE' lights up in the display: To continue playback, press PLAY/PAUSE HI 8 again.
• To stop playback, press STOP ■ 8.
The CD-player also goes to position STOP:
-If the CD-player reaches the end of the disc;
-If you press OPEN;
-If you move the TAPE/CD/RADIO selector 5;
- If the batteries get exhausted or if the power
supply is interrupted in another way.
• To take out the disc, open the disc cover by pressing OPEN. Press OPEN only if the CD­player is in position STOP.
• To switch off the set, place TAPE/CD/RADIO selector 6 to TAPE.
Go to the next »i or previous h*< title The SKIP and buttons 8 are operative during PLAY.
SKIP »1 - go to the next track (title)
During playback, you can jump to the next title
by pressing SKIP 8 once. If you want to skip
more than one track, then press SKIP more
than once until the display 3 shows the desired track number.
SKIP - go to the previous track (title)
During playback, you can jump to the previous title by pressing SKIP r« 8 twice. If you-want to skip more than one track, then press SKIP
more than once until the display 3 shows the desired track number.
SEARCH (during PLAY)
• Keep SEARCH ►► (forward) or SEARCH ◄◄ (backward) pressed. The disc is then played at high speed, however, the sound is still recognizable.
•When releasing the button, the disc is played in the normal way from this passage.

Instead of playing a complete disc, you may

select a number of tracks and store these in

the memory in the desired sequence. When playing, you will hear the stored titles in the selected sequence.
•Press MEMORY8. The 'MEMORY' indicator lights up.
• Programme in the STOP position.
1 Select the track with the SKI P r« or ►»
buttons 8.
2Store this track by pressing MEMORY 8 again.
• Store all desired titles in the required sequence. At most 20 tracks can be stored in the memory.
• Press PLAY/PAUSE ►!! 8 and your selection is played.
•To stop playback, press STOP ■ 8.
• Beginning from the STOP mode, the programme of a particular CD will be erased if you press STOP ■ 8.
The contents of the memory are also erased:
- If you press OPEN;
-If you move the TAPE/CD/RADIO selector 6;
-If the batteries get exhausted or if the power supply is interrupted in another way.

REPEAT

Press the REPEAT button 8:
lx, to repeat the current track continuously. 2x, to repeat the whole disc continuously. 3x, to cancel the REPEAT function.

Recording is permissible insofar as copyright or other rights of third parties are not infringed.

-At the very beginning of the tape, no recording will take place during the first 7 seconds when the transparent leader tape passes the recorder heads.
• When monitoring, adjust the sound with the
controls VOLUME 4, and TONE 7.
Recording from the CD-player
• Set TAPE/CD/RADIO selector 6 to CD.
• Select the desired track using the
SKIP r« or button 8.
• Press PLAY/PAUSE HI of the CD-player.
• Start recording by pressing RECORD • 12;
in doing so, PLAY ► is pressed too. The POWER, indicator 5 lights up.
• For brief interruptions, press PAUSE I112. To restart recording, press this button again.
•To stop recording, press STOP■ 12.
• To switch off the set, place TAPE/CD/RADIO selector 6 to TAPE.
Recording from the radio
• Set TAPE/CD/RADIO selector 6 to RADIO,
• In case of FM radio recordings, set FM-MODE selector 1 to the desired position.
• Now start recording by pressing RECORD • 12; PLAY ► is automatically pressed too. The POWER, indicator 5 lights up.
• For brief interruptions, press PAUSE I112. To restart recording, press this button again.
•To stop recording, press STOP ■ 12.
•To switch off the set, place TAPE/CD/RADIO selector 6 to TAPE.
Safeguarding against erasure Keep the cassette side to be safeguarded in front of you and break out the left tab.
Recording
• Press EJECT 12 to open the cassette holder.
• Insert the cassette.
For recording you must use a NORMAL cassette (ferric oxide, I EC type I) on which the tabs are not broken out.
Now, recording on this side is no longer possible. You can render this safeguard ineffective by covering the aperture with a piece of adhesive tape.

CASSETTE-PLAYBACK

Playback
• Set TAPE/CD/RADIO selector 6 to TAPE.
• Press EJECT ■ 12 and insert a recorded cas sette {fig.3).
• Press PLAY ► 12 and playback will start. The POWER, indicator 5 lights up.
• Adjust the sound with the controls VOLUME 4, and TONE button 7.
• To stop playback, press STOP ■ 12. The set is then switched off.
Fast winding and rewinding Press fast forward wind F.FWD 12 or REWIND a button 12. To stop fast winding, press STOP button ■ 12.

MAINTENANCE

CD-Player and disc maintenance
-The lens (x) should never be cleaned.
-The lens may steam up when the set is taken from a cold into a warm environment. Playing a disc is not possible then. Do not clean the
lens, but let the set acclimatize for a while.
-Always pick up the disc by the edge and put
it back in its box immediately after use.
-To remove dirt from a disc, breath on the disc first and wipe it off in a straight line from centre to edge using a soft, lint-free cloth. The use of cleaning agents may harm the disc.
Cassette-recorder maintenance Clean the parts A, B, C and D after every 50 hours of operation or, on average, once a month.
• Open the cassette holder by pressing
EJECT« 12.
• Use a cotton bud slightly moistened with
alcohol or a special head cleaning fluid.
• Press PLAY ► 12 and clean the rubber
pressure roller D.
• Then press PAUSE I112 and clean erase head
A, recording/playback head B and capstan C.
• After cleaning, press STOP ■ 12.
Cleaning of the heads A and B can also be done by playing a cleaning cassette through once as an ordinary cassette.
Remarks
-The mechanisms of the CD-player and the cassette deck are fitted with self-lubricating bearings and therefore must not be oiled or greased.
-Fingerprints, dust and dirt on the apparatus can be removed using a soft, clean and slightly damp leather cloth. Do not use any cleaning agents, since they may affect and
harm the cabinet.
-Keep the set, batteries, discs and cassettes away from rain, moisture, sand and excessive
heat, e.g. near heating equipment or in cars parked in the sun.
