One Touch Is All It Takes
Remember all the things you had to
do with your old home cinema system
before you could actually watch a
movie? First you had to turn on the TV,
then the DVD player, and then the
receiver. After that, you had to change
the receiver input selector, switch the
TV’s input mode, and then press the
Play button. Even after all that you still
had to get the remote control to hit a
few more buttons. That was yesterday.
Viera Link is today.
With an all-Viera Link home
cinema system, watching a movie is
easy as a single touch. Pressing a
single button on the remote control
turns on the TV, receiver, and DVD
recorder/player, displays the playback
image, mutes the TV sound, and
outputs the sound from the
receiver. It's all done instantly,
automatically. All you have to
do is sit back and watch. Once
you experience this kind of
convenience, you'll never
want to go back to yesterday.

What's HDMI
The New Interface for Digital Signal Transmission
HDMI transmits digital video and audio signals at speeds up to 5 Gbps
without compressing them. It supports high definition images up to 1080p
and high-quality, multi-channel audio formats such as DVD-Audio. And it
provides all this performance with the ease of connecting a single cable.
Also equipped with a copyright protection function, HDMI is a simple,
high-performance interface that supports the growing digital age.

Interface are trademarks or registered trademarks of

Surround Sound Adds to
the Viewing Experience
Movie theatres create a superb acoustic
environment by strategically positioning a
number of large speakers around the
theater. Due to space and design
considerations in our homes, however,
home cinema systems are generally
limited to around six slim, compact
speakers. The challenge is how to use
them to create the same kind of ambience
you enjoy in a movie theatre. Panasonic's
answer: the 360° Sound. Bringing together
three separate functions — 360° Sound,
Surround Enhancer, and H.Bass — this
sound technology delivers dynamic audio
reproduction with outstanding acoustic
motion and wraparound surround sound.
The 360° Sound delivers a pure, beautiful,
powerful sound that transports you right
into the scene on the big screen.
360˚ Sound
Drawing from its long history of
developing innovative audio
technologies, Panasonic has achieved
a level of sound reproduction that
enhances the feelings of motion and
space. Sounds move vertically and
horizontally across a wide acoustic
field, to virtually pull the listener into
the excitement and drama of each
movie.
Conventional
360º Sound
Surround Enhancer
In conventional 5.1-channel systems, the sound
tends to weaken at the sides or rear of the
central listening position. Surround Enhancer
projects "virtual" speakers into those areas to
complete the circle of sound and enhance the
wraparound effect. The result is a full surround
sound with the kind of lifelike, exciting effect as
the multi-speaker systems in movie theatres.
H.Bass
Dramatically improved audio characteristics in the
subwoofer result in ultra-robust bass sounds that add to
the dynamics and atmosphere of movie and music audio
reproduction. Enjoy powerful bass sounds rivaling those
of the most
advanced theatre
systems, right in
the comfort of
your own home.

Great Entertainment
Without the Clutter
With a conventional home cinema system
there's a lot of wires to worry about. You might
have to run cables from the receiver to the rear
speakers under the carpet or along the base of
the walls so people don't get tripped. And all
those cables aren't very pretty to look at.
The solution? Go wireless.
A Panasonic wireless home cinema system
transmits the audio signals by radio waves, so
there's no need to run cables from the main
unit to the rear speakers. The signal isn't
interrupted by people walking through the
room or the placement of furniture.
Stylish Wireless
The SC-HT995W uses the 2.4-GHz wireless system, which is largely unaffected by obstacles in its path.
Because of this, the signals sent from the main unit are received with excellent sensitivity by the rear
wireless unit, even if it is partially blocked by something like a sofa. The system's card-type transmitter
simply inserts into the rear panel of the main unit, so it doesn't take up extra space and keeps the area
around the TV neat and tidy. The SC-HT995W gives you a truly stylish wireless home cinema. Best of all: the
wireless advantage is available on the SC-HT545 and SC-HT895 with the purchase of the SH-FX60 wireless
expander pack.

addition to this, it uses a Advanced Adaptive
Frequency Selection System, which is extremely
resistant to signal interference, to ensure
excellent sound quality. The rear wireless unit
features two powerful 125-watt amps to produce
high-fidelity surround sound that is well
balanced with the power of the front speakers
and subwoofer.

Panasonic – Making Products with the Environment in Mind
As well as implementing measures to develop energy-saving designs, Panasonic is taking positive steps to thoroughly comply with the RoHS
and WEEE Directives. This is all part of a multifaceted approach to the manufacture of environment-friendly products.
RoHS
Eliminating the RoHS Substance Usage
Panasonic is eliminating the use of the six substances
specified in the RoHS Directive of the European Union.
This measure has been implemented prior to the date on
which the Directive takes effect.
The RoHS Directive
Officially called the "Restriction of the Use of Certain
Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic
Equipment," the RoHS Directive bans the use of six
substances (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium,
polybrominated biphenals (pbb), and polybrominated
diphenyl ethers (pbde), and takes effect in July 2006.
In compliance with the WEEE Directive, to promote efficient,
low-cost recycling, Panasonic has agreed to cooperate with
recycling with other manufactures. We have also established the
recycling management company “Ecology Net Europe” as an
agent for distribution and recycling companies. Taking advantage
of our considerable recycling experiences, this new company is
ready to offer a range of innovative recycling solutions.
This symbol on products and/or accompanying documents
means that used electrical and electronic products should not be
mixed with general household waste.
The WEEE Directive applies to all Panasonic products, which are
designed with the environment in mind to enable recycling.

Energy-Saving Design
for DIGA DVD Recorder
Panasonic combined advanced nanotechnology with its
extensive system technology capabilities to develop a
new system LSI. The result is higherspeed and lower
electricity consumption. The key to this energy-saving
designlies in low energy consumption during standby,
which is 50% of that inconventional models, a feature
that is also enviroment-friendly.

108MHz/12-bit Video D/A Conveter (DVD-S52/S32)
This high-speed, high-precision circuit converts DVD video
signals using 4-times oversampling for progressive scan
playback and 8-times oversampling for interlace scan playback.
The high-density conversion process results in clear, beautiful
pictures with high resolution and high S/N ratio.
HD Enhancer (DVD-S52)
Ordinary video up-converters produce images by uniformly
interpolating the original video signal. This produces images with
thicker edges and decreased sharpness. The HD Enhancer, on the
other hand, keeps the edges sharp while correcting other parts of
the image to produce razor-sharp pictures with outstanding detail.
Its effect is especially noticeable on a large screen.

Sound Enhancement (DVD-S52/S32)
When a source is being processed, the sound
characteristics of vacuum-tube amps is added into the
reconstructed music signal. According to the type of
music source, you can choose to have sound reproduction
with the warmth unique to vacuum-tube amps.
H.Bass for TV (DVD-S52/S32)
TV speakers typically suffer from inadequate low-range
sound performance. The H.Bass function helps
compensate for this by mixing low-frequency sound
components into the front right and left signals and by
taking advantage of a natural characteristic of the human
ear. H.Bass creates harmonic components of sounds that
are too low for the speakers to reproduce. The listener is
able to perceive the original sound from the harmonic
components. The result is a rich, dynamic TV sound that
actually exceeds the reproduction range of the TV
speakers.

Advantages of the Digital Amp
Full-Digital Processing
Our amplifiers use digital processing from signal input all the way
through to output. Their amazing amplification lets you enjoy the
full potential of today's most advanced audio sources such as
DVD-Audio. And because our amplifiers are compatible with
sampling frequencies up to 192 kHz, you can enjoy faithful
reproduction of analog audio signals converted into 192-kHz/24-bit
signals so you won’t lose any of that great, original sound.
Low Noise, Low Distortion
Panasonic and Texas Instruments developed technology that helps
eliminate the distortion that occurs in PCM-to-PWM conversion, to
help prevent a loss in stability. Our amplifiers boast 98-MHz
processing. They incorporate 4-dimensional noise-shaper
technology to reduce noise as well as, feed-forward error correction
to ensure ultra-low distortion, even in high-frequency sounds. They
also offer a VGDA (Variable Gain Digital Amplifier) function that
improves the S/N ratio so you enjoy superb sound even when
listening at low volume.
High Efficiency, High Power
An advanced switching amp control method called dead time control
combines with a serial snubber circuit to help conserve electric
power at the output stage. This super-high efficiency not only helps
save energy and helps reduce heat generation, it also helps ensure a
stable, high-quality sound. Our amplifiers are built for power, too.
Pumping out 100 watts/ch* over 7ch – incredibly high output for
amplifiers this slim – they let you enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful
sound inherent in DVD and other multi-channel sources.
* 1kHz, 6ohms, 0.9% THD
High Quality Dual Amp Drive Reproduction
Dual Amp Drive
The SA-XR57 achieves superb reproduction by making it possible
for two amps to drive ordinary (non-biwired) speakers connected
via a single speaker cable. Conventional multi-channel amps use
only one amp per speaker in 2-channel playback, and the surround
channel amp is not used at all. But in the SA-XR57/55, Panasonic
has applied original technology that takes full advantage of the
characteristics of digital amps, completely synchronising the two
amps in parallel so that they can drive a single speaker using the
ordinary connection method. This capitalizes on the outstanding
response of the digital amp, while the double drive power adds
richness and depth. The dual amp drive system automatically
activates for 2-channel sources and then resumes ordinary drive
for multi-channel sources. There is no need to change speaker
cables to match the source.

such an important role in reproducing movie sound effects and
background music.

Technologies that Zero in on Sound Quality
32-bit Floating Point DSP
The SA-XR57 incorporates a 32-bit Floating Point Digital Signal
Processor. Boasting exceptional speed and precision, this advanced
processor decodes Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES and other surround
sound signals quickly and accurately to deliver a stunningly lifelike
surround performance. Also, an A/D converter converts analog
signals to 192-kHz/24-bit digital signals, then
applies 32-bit DSP processing. This gives you
an extremely high-quality sound even when
playing conventional analogue sources.
192-kHz/24-bit A/D Converter
This converts analogue signals to digital signals and delivers them to
the 32-bit DSP, giving you maximum benefit from the digital amp and
digital functions even when playing analog sources.
Pure Water Capacitor
A Pure Water Capacitor containing a rayon separator is used as the
electrolytic capacitor for each of the seven audio channels. With its
high water content this capacitor offers
excellent electrical characteristics and low
impedance. The clean electric current it
delivers to the speakers helps achieve a clear,
transparent sound.
MOS-FET
The power amp section is equipped with newly developed,
half-bridge MOS-FETs, which assure high conversion efficiency and
excellent audio characteristics. Also, by integrating the conventional
four MOS-FETs per channel to two per
channel, we downsized the circuitry and
shortened the signal path. The result is a fast,
powerful speaker drive that delivers highly
linear, true-to-life musical reproduction.
Triple Amp with Bi-Amp/Bi-Wiring Drive
When using bi-wired speakers
with the SA-XR57/55, each
speaker is driven by three amps
for even higher sound quality.
This bi-amp system drives the
treble range with a single amp
and the bass range with dual
amps, using a total of six amps
for high stereo fidelity.

Auto Speaker Detector
The Auto Speaker Detector function detects the connected speaker
system and automatically adjusts the settings. The SA-XR57 is set
for 7.1ch at the factory. If it is connected to a 5.1ch speaker system,
the Auto Speaker Detector function will automatically switch the
setting to 5.1ch. This prevents improper sound ambience due to
incorrect settings. This function can also be used to check for a
loose cable or a faulty connection when there is no sound output
from a specific speaker.

unwanted vibrations for
clear sound reproduction.
Super Sonic Tweeter
Thanks to a new technology,
the Super Sonic Tweeter can
reproduce high-frequency
sounds all the way up to 100 kHz – more than
enough to reproduce the breathtaking
96-kHz sounds of 192-kHz/24-bit DVD-Audio.
Because this tweeter can reproduce even
the peaks of the high-frequency range, it
replicates the harmonics of a musical
source. You get a pure, true-to-life sound
with all the nuances and subtlety of the
original.
8cm Slim Woofer
A magnetic circuit with a
4-layer voice coil provides
rich bass, and an
aramid-reinforced pulp

1,428mm
1,183mm
Adjustable Height
You can adjust the height of the speakers from
1,183mm to 1,428mm. By setting them to the same
height as your Panasonic plasma TV, the tweeters
will be lined up heightwise with the centre of the TV
screen for an ideal acoustic effect.
Coaxial Configuration Speaker Unit
These five-speaker units have the tweeter in the center
and the other units arranged symmetrically around it,
two on each side. The excellent acoustic imaging
provided by this virtual coaxial configuration makes
movie dialogue extremely clear and easy to hear.
Staggered Drive System Creates
a Wider Listening Area
When speakers are spaced widely apart, the volume
seems to sound lower unless you're right in front of a
speaker. This is because of phase interference. To reduce
this phenomenon, we developed the new Staggered Drive
System, which sets the upper frequency range individually
for the inside and outside woofers. This reduces sound
cancelling, which in effect widens the listening area.

A double-motion damper and a rubber edge are used to
support the diaphragm, helping produce clear, clean bass
with minimal distortion even at high volumes. The unit is
driven by a 6-layer wound voice coil and powerful
magnetic circuit, which help deliver dynamic
low-frequency sounds with large amplitude.
Aero Stream Bass-Reflex Port
We gave the Aero Stream Bass-Reflex Port a smoother
