HOW TO CARE FOR THIS PRODUCT:
•
For hygienic purposes, the use of Probe Covers is recommended.
•
The thermometer should be cleaned after use even when probe covers are used.
•
Clean the thermometer using isopropyl alcohol or soap and water. Do not immerse in liquid.
•
Store the unit in the protective case while not in use.
•
Do not store or keep in direct sunlight, or at high temperatures.
•
Do not drop the thermometer, as this may damage the unit.
WHAT IS A “NORMAL” TEMPERATURE?:
Temperature varies with each individual. A normal temperature refers to each individual’s average temperature
while they are well. Normal average temperatures range from 36.1°C/97°F to 37.8°C/100°F when taken orally.
From an oral temperature, you may calculate a rectal equivalent temperature by adding 0.5°C/1°F while an
underarm temperature requires subtracting 0.5°C/1°F. For example, if your oral temperature is 37°C/98.6°F this is the
same as a rectal temperature of 37.5°C/99.6°F or an underarm temperature of 36.4°C/97.6°F. Rectal temperatures
are generally considered true body temperature.
HOW TO TAKE BODY TEMPERATURE:
1. Place a probe cover carefully over the tip (figure 1).
2. Push the on/off button located beside the display window. Hold the button
down if you choose to recall the last measured temperature. The thermometer
will beep and the display will read: “188.8
°
F
”.
This is a function check indicating
the unit is working properly. Next the thermometer will read L°
F
.
3. Select oral, underarm or rectal as your measurement site based on the individual.
4. The °F symbol will continuously flash when the unit is ready to measure temperature. Please note that “”
indicates a low battery. See instructions for replacing the battery before measuring temperature. Do not expect an
accurate temperature reading if this low battery indicator is present. An “Err” message in the window
indicates your unit is not functioning properly.
ORAL USE: (for ages four years or older)
•
Do not drink hot or cold fluids, exercise, smoke or perform other activities prior to a
reading. These activities will raise or lower temperature readings when compared to
your normal, average temperature. The mouth should remain closed up to 5 minutes
before attempting a reading.
•
Place the probe tip well under the tongue in locations as indicated by the “✔”.
(figure 2) Instruct children not to bite down on the probe and keep mouth closed
during temperature measurement.
•
The peak temperature should be reached in approximately 10-20 seconds.
Opening the mouth or improper placement of the probe tip could result in a longer time for a reading.
•
When peak temperature is reached, the °F symbol will stop flashing, and the thermometer will beep
repeatedly.
Please note: It is not necessary to hear the beep to ensure the peak temperature has been
reached. When the °F stops flashing and the display reads a consistent temperature, the peak temperature
has been reached.
*Results may vary by individual measurement and technique used. Average clinical results: 10.7 seconds rectal, 16.3 seconds
oral, 22.0 seconds under the arm. Clinical results range from 7.8 to 35.2 seconds.

• Read and record the temperature and time for reference. The reading will automatically be stored in the memory.
• Push the on/off button to turn the unit off. If you do not turn the unit off, it will shut off automatically
in approximately 10 minutes.
UNDERARM (AXILLARY) USE:
• Wipe underarm with a dry towel.
• Place probe tip in armpit and bring arm down against the body (figure 3).
The probe should be pointing upward in the same direction as your body if possible.
• The time required for an accurate underarm temperature may be 20-30 seconds or
longer depending on placement of the probe and closure of the arm against the body.
When peak temperature is reached, the °F symbol will stop flashing, and the thermometer
will beep repeatedly. Please note: It is not necessary to hear the beep to ensure the peak
temperature has been reached. When the °F symbol stops flashing and the display reads a consistent
temperature, the peak temperature has been reached.
• Read and record the temperature and time for reference. The reading will automatically be stored in the memory.
• Push the on/off button to turn the unit off. If you do not turn the unit off, it will shut off automatically in
approximately 10 minutes.
RECTAL USE:
• Commonly used for babies, young children or when it is difficult to take an oral or underarm temperature.
• After placing the probe cover on the thermometer, lubricate with a water-soluble jelly or petroleum jelly.
• Gently insert the probe tip no more than 1/2 inch or 1.3 cm into the rectum. Do not force the tip into
the rectum if resistance is encountered.
• Dispose of the used probe cover and wash the thermometer as recommended.
• The peak temperature should be reached in approximately 10 seconds.
• When peak temperature is reached, the °F symbol will stop flashing, and the thermometer will beep repeatedly.
Please note: It is not necessary to hear the beep to ensure the peak temperature has been reached. When
the °F symbol stops flashing and the display reads a consistent temperature, the peak temperature
has been reached.
• Read and record the temperature and time for reference. The reading will automatically be stored in the memory.
• Push the on/off button to turn the unit off. If you do not turn the unit off, it will shut off automatically in
approximately 10 minutes.
CONVERSION FROM FAHRENHEIT TO CENTIGRADE (°F/°C)
• The thermometer is initially set at Fahrenheit °F.
• Follow the steps below to change the measurement scale.
1. In the off mode, Press and hold the on/off button for 4 seconds until the °F flashes.
2. You can toggle between °C and °F.
3. Once the desired scale is selected, the °C or °F will flash indicating ready for use.
4. Proceed with temperature measurement.
• Repeat process to reverse the measurement scale if desired.
TO RECALL THE LAST TEMPERATURE:
1. Press and hold the ON/OFF button while turning on the unit. The last measured temperature will be shown in
the display with the letter “M” shown under the degree sign in approximately 3 seconds.
2. Release the ON/OFF button. The thermometer will be in “ready-to-measure” mode and the recalled temperature
will be erased. Note: If the device is switched off before completion of temperature taking, L°C or LºF will
appear in memory the next time the unit is used.
CHANGING THE BATTERY:
When the “” appears in the lower right of the display, the battery is exhausted and needs
replacing. Make sure a battery of the same type is on hand and proceed as follows:
Remove battery compartment lid and carefully slide out the battery holder. Insert
new equivalent battery type (1.5v SR41 or LR41). Ensure battery is correctly positioned
with the “+” facing up or towards the front of the unit. Carefully replace the battery
compartment lid. Ensure “O” Ring (washer) is in place to maintain water resistance.
Properly dispose of the batteries according to local regulations keeping them from small
children and heat.
WARNING: KEEP BATTERY OUT OF CHILD’S REACH. SWALLOWING BATTERY COULD BE
HARMFUL. BATTERY SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED OR PLACED INTO EXTREME HEAT AS IT MAY
EXPLODE.
Measurement Range: 32.2°C to 43.2°C/90.0°F to 109.9°F
Measurement Accuracy: ±0.1°C/±0.2°F between 35.6°C to 41.1°C/96.0°F to 106.0°F, accurate to
±0.2°C/±0.4ºF at less than 35.6°C/96.0ºF and greater than 41.1°C/106.0ºF.

Thank you for purchasing the OMRON®Digital Thermometer. Read all of the instructions carefully before
using this thermometer to ensure accurate temperatures and safe operation.

BATTERY
INFORMACIÓN DE SEGURIDAD:

CUIDADO DEL PRODUCTO:

¿QUÉ ES UNA TEMPERATURA “NORMAL”?:
La temperatura varía según cada persona. Una temperatura normal es la temperatura promedio de una persona
cuando se halla en buen estado de salud. Las temperaturas promedio normales oscilan entre los 36,1°C/97°F y los
37,8°C/100°F cuando se miden por vía oral. A partir de la temperatura oral, puede calcularse la temperatura
rectal equivalente agregando 0,5°C/1°F, mientras que para calcular la temperatura axilar debe restarse 0,5°C/1°F. Por
ejemplo, si su temperatura oral es de 37°C/98,6°F, su temperatura rectal es de 37,5°C/99,6°F y su temperatura
axilar es de 36,4°C/97,6°F. Generalmente, se considera que la temperatura rectal es la temperatura corporal real.
CÓMO TOMAR LA TEMPERATURA CORPORAL:
1. Coloque cuidadosamente la funda de la sonda sobre la punta (figura 1).
2. Presione el botón de encendido (on/off) ubicado al lado del visor.
Manténgalo presionado si desea recuperar la última medición de temperatura.
El termómetro producirá una señal acústica y en el visor aparecerá:

Ésta es una verificación de funcionamiento que indica que la unidad está operando correctamente.
Luego, en el termómetro aparecerá L°

3. Seleccione el método de medición oral, axilar o rectal según la persona.
4. El símbolo °F titilará continuamente cuando la unidad esté lista para medir la temperatura. Tenga en cuenta que
“” indica que la batería está descargada. Consulte las instrucciones para recambiar la batería antes de medir la
temperatura. No espere obtener una medición de temperatura precisa si el indicador de batería descargada
aparece en el visor. El mensaje “Err” en el visor indica que la unidad no está funcionando correctamente.
USO ORAL: (a partir de los cuatro años de edad)
• No beba líquidos calientes ni fríos, no realice ejercicios, no fume ni realice otra actividad
antes de efectuar una lectura. Estas actividades pueden aumentar o di minuir las lecturas de
la temperatura comparadas con su temperatura promedio normal. Permanezca con la
boca cerrada hasta 5 minutos antes de intentar efectuar una medición.
•
Coloque el extremo de la sonda bien debajo de la lengua en los lugares marcados con
una “
✔ (figura 2). Indique a los niños que no muerdan la sonda y que mantengan la
boca cerrada durante la medición de la temperatura.
•
La temperatura máxima debería alcanzarse en aproximadamente 10 a 20 segundos. Si
se abre la boca o se coloca incorrectamente el extremo de la sonda, tal vez sea necesario un mayor tiempo para
la lectura.
•
Cuando se alcance la temperatura máxima, el símbolo °F dejará de titilar y el termómetro producirá una
señal acústica reiteradamente. Advertencia: No es necesario escuchar la señal acústica para
asegurarse de que la temperatura máxima se ha alcanzado. Cuando el símbolo °F deje de titilar y el
visor muestre un valor de temperatura uniforme, se habrá alcanzado la temperatura máxima.
*Los resultados pueden variar según cada medición y la técnica utilizada. Resultados clínicos promedio: 10,7 segundos en la
medición rectal, 16,3 segundos en la oral y 22,0 segundos en la axilar. Los resultados clínicos varían entre 7,8 y 35,2 segundos.

• Lea y registre la temperatura y el tiempo para tomarlos como referencia. La lectura se guardará automáticamente
en la memoria.
• Presione el botón on/off para apagar la unidad. Si no apaga la unidad, se apagará automáticamente una vez tran-
scurridos aproximadamente 10 minutos.
USO DEBAJO DEL BRAZO (AXILAR):
• Limpie la axila con una toalla seca.
• Coloque el extremo de la sonda en la axila y baje el brazo contra el cuerpo (figura 3).
La sonda debe apuntar hacia arriba, de ser posible, en la misma dirección del cuerpo.
• El tiempo necesario para una medición axilar precisa puede ser de 20 a 30 segundos o
más, según la ubicación de la sonda y la posición cerrada del brazo contra el cuerpo.
Cuando se alcance la temperatura máxima, el símbolo °F dejará de titilar y el termómetro producirá una señal acústica reiteradamente. Advertencia: No es necesario escuchar la señal acústica
para asegurarse de que se ha alcanzado la temperatura máxima. Cuando el símbolo °F deje de titilar y el
visor muestre un valor de temperatura uniforme, se habrá alcanzado la temperatura máxima.

USO RECTAL:
• Comúnmente se emplea en bebés, niños pequeños o cuando resulta difícil tomar la temperatura oral o axilar.
• Después de colocar la funda de la sonda en el termómetro, lubrique con vaselina o un gel soluble en agua.
• Inserte suavemente el extremo de la sonda en el recto, no más de 1,3 cm ó 0,5 pulgadas. Evite forzar dicho
extremo en el recto ante la menor resistencia.
• Deseche la funda para la sonda utilizada y lave el termómetro tal como se recomienda.
• La temperatura máxima debería alcanzarse en aproximadamente 10 segundos.
• Cuando se alcance la temperatura máxima, el símbolo °F dejará de titilar y el termómetro producirá una señal
acústica reiteradamente. Advertencia: No es necesario escuchar la señal acústica para asegurarse de que la
temperatura máxima se haya alcanzado. Cuando el símbolo °F deje de titilar y el visor muestre un valor
de temperatura uniforme, se habrá alcanzado la temperatura máxima.

CONVERSIÓN DE GRADOS FAHRENHEIT A GRADOS CENTÍGRADOS (°F/°C)
• La configuración original del termómetro muestra las temperaturas en grados Fahrenheit °F.
• Para cambiar la escala de medición, siga los siguientes pasos.
1. Cuando la unidad esté apagada, mantenga presionado el botón on/off durante 4 segundos hasta que el símbolo
°F titile.
2. Puede alternar entre °C y °F.
3. Una vez seleccionada la escala deseada, el símbolo °C o °F titilará indicando que la unidad está lista
para ser utilizada.
4. Continúe con la medición de la temperatura.
• Repita el proceso para cambiar la escala de medición, si así lo desea.
RECUPERACIÓN DE LA ÚLTIMA MEDICIÓN REALIZADA:
1. Mantenga presionado el botón ON/OFF mientras enciende la unidad. La última temperatura medida aparecerá
en el visor con la letra “M” debajo del signo de grado luego de aproximadamente 3 segundos.
2. Suelte el botón ON/OFF. El termómetro estará en el modo “listo para medir” (“ready-to-measuse”) y la temperatura
recuperada se borrará. Nota: Si se apaga la unidad antes de completarse la medición de la temperatura, la próxima
vez que la utilice aparecerá L°C o L°F en la memoria.
RECAMBIO DE LA BATERÍA:
Cuando “” aparece en el extremo derecho inferior del visor, significa que la batería está agotada y necesita
recambiarse. Asegúrese de tener una batería del mismo tipo y siga los siguientes pasos:
Retire la tapa del compartimiento de la batería y extraiga la batería cuidadosamente. Inserte
la batería nueva del mismo tipo (1,5v SR41 o LR41). Asegúrese de que la batería se
encuentre en la posición correcta, con el polo “+” hacia arriba o hacia el frente de la
unidad. Cuidadosamente, vuelva a colocar la tapa del compartimiento de la batería.
Asegúrese de que la junta tórica (arandela) esté en su lugar para mantener la resistencia al
agua. Deshágase adecuadamente de las baterías, de acuerdo con las normas locales y
manténgalas fuera del alcance de los niños y alejadas del calor.
