1 BEFORE YOU GO ONSITE
PREINSTALL CHECKLIST
These instructions assume that certain requirements have been fulfilled prior to installation. It is recommended that you call the customer and confirm that the following are in place before arriving onsite:
Network connection and cable are
available/tested and ready for the installation to the printer
Assigned IP address or DHCP? Location for the printer has been
cleared and ready to receive printer
PC is available and setup to install
drivers and software. Order of preference:
WinXP with Photo Finale Lab (PFLAB)
WinXP with Print Station
Any WinXP computer
*Only schedule setup, when customer has WinXP.
PC should be able to contact printer’s
IP address
Open ports between PC and printer
SNMP (port 161)
HTTP (port 80)
2 SETUP PRINTER
Setup the printer, install the media and calibrate the printer. When finished, print a configuration page to ensure that the printer is working.

1. Press ENTER to switch to the menu mode.
2. Use the T key to scroll down to Print Pages. Press ENTER.
3. Use the T key to scroll down to Configuration. Press ENTER.

3 ASSIGN AN IP ADDRESS TO

If you are not using DHCP, you need to obtain an IP Address from your network Administrator and enter it using the front panel:
1. Confirm that the printer displays [Ready to print].
2. Press T key until [Admin Setup] appears. Press ENTER.
3. Continue to Setup? displays. Press E printer goes offline and Running Setup displays. This will take about a minute.
4. The Setup Menu displays, press T to select [Network Setup]. Press ENTER.
5. Press T to select [Protocol Setup]. Press ENTER.
6. Press T to select [TCP/IP Setup]. Press ENTER.
7. Press T to select [Ethernet Setup]. Press ENTER.

After you have completed the printer driver installation, you must configure the printer for the installed options. You can configure the options manually or, for TCP/IP network connections, you can use the Two-Way Communication feature to configure the options automatically.

11 CALIBRATE PRINTER
1. Click START → ALL PROGRAMS → FIERY → COMMAND WORKSTATION4
2. Choose Log in/Log out from the Server menu. CWS4 will start searching for Fiery servers. Choose the device that matches the correct IP Address.

10 INSTALL EYE-ONE DEVICE
Plug the Eye-One (ES-1000) device into an available USB slot.
1. A found new hardware wizard will appear.

3. Click the Login button next to the Fiery name to establish the connection.
4. Select the Administrator option and then click Log In.
5. Choose Manage Color from the Server Menu.
6. Click on Calibrator.
7. For Select Method, choose ES- 1000 Spectrometer from the drop down menu.
8. For the Screen Setting, choose 12x6 Dot Screen from the drop down menu.
9. Click Print.
10. On the Print Options Menu, keep the defaults and click Print. A

11. Place the printed page on a stack of 5 sheets of blank paper to prevent bleed through.
12. Align the plastic guide strip up so that the center passes through the first column of swatches (Cyan).
16. Measure the cyan swatches by starting the ES-1000 in the grey bracket atop the swatches.
17. Click the button on the device and wait for an audible beep. If you cannot hear the beep then wait 1-2 seconds, before dragging the device down the page.
18. While holding the button drag the device smoothly down the plastic guide until you have passed the last swatch, then release the button. To judge the correct speed, from start to finish, use a count of 4.
19. When the scan has been successful, a check will appear and the red cross will move to the next color.
20. When all four colors have been scanned, click the Accept button.
