1 Introduction
This document gives instructions on how to install the Nokia 6131 NFC SDK. The installation contains a
device emulator, Java™ class libraries, APIs, documentation, and an uninstaller. Nokia Connectivity
Framework 1.2 is also included in the installer. With the SDK installation, you can also install the Nokia
SDK Plug-in, which allows you to use the SDK with Eclipse.
2 System requirements
Basic requirements:
• Microsoft Windows XP (SP2)
• Java 2 SDK version 1.4.2 or Java 2 SDK version 1.5.0
• 1 GHz or faster processor
• 256 MB of RAM
• 200 MB of free disk space
Optional requirements:
• If the Nokia 6131 NFC SDK is integrated with Carbide.j, the processor speed, RAM, and hard disk
space requirements are the same as for Carbide.j.
• If the Nokia 6131 NFC SDK is installed with the SDK Plug-in, the processor speed, RAM, and hard
disk space requirements are the same as for Eclipse.
• A Microsoft Windows compatible sound card is required for audio support.
2.1 Optional pre-installation requirements
• Eclipse 3.1.1 or 3.2
• Carbide.j version 1.5 integrated with Eclipse or as a stand-alone application
• Sun J2ME Wireless Toolkit 2.2
Note : Carbide.j is not compatible with Eclipse 3.2.
3 Product installation
3.1 Installation steps
Start the installation by running the installation executable (

setup.exe), and complete the following

Introduction window: This window displays general information about the software to be
installed. Click the

End-User software agreement: Read the terms of the license agreement. Accept the terms by
selecting the appropriate check box, and then click the
installation.

Choose Install Set window:
a. If you only want to install the Nokia 6131 NFC SDK, select the option

and click the Next button. Continue to Step 5.

b. If you want to install the Nokia 6131 NFC SDK and the Nokia SDK Plug-in, which provides
integration with Eclipse, select

Select to view release notes: After installation, you will be prompted whether you want to read
the Release Notes of the product. If you select the check box and click

Installation complete window. Click Done to complete the installation of the Nokia 6131 NFC SDK.

4 Getting started
Instructions on how to use the Nokia 6131 NFC SDK can be found from the Nokia 6131 NFC SDK: User's
Guide. You can find the guide from the Windows Start menu by choosing:
Programs | Nokia
Developer Tools | NFC SDK
You can also locate the guide on the hard disk by browsing for the
Nokia_6131_NFC_SDK_Users_Guide_v1_1_en.pdf file at
<sdk_installation_directory>\docs
By default, the path is C:\Nokia\Devices\Nokia_6131_NFC_SDK_1_1\docs.
5 Uninstallation
Navigate to the Windows Start menu and choose
Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs | Software Development Kit for Nokia 6131 NFC
Then click the
You can also find the uninstaller from the Windows Start menu.
At the end of the uninstallation, the Uninstall Nokia SDK Plug-in window is shown. If you select to
uninstall Nokia SDK Plug-in at this time, it will be completely removed from your PC. If you want to use
the Nokia SDK Plug-in with other SDKs, do not select the uninstallation check box.
Change/Remove button.
