The NAD Model 523 combines the convenience of a five disc "carousel" with the kind of performance that has won widespread acclaim for single-disc NAD players. Careful, innovative electrical and mechanical design endow the NAD Model 523 with a degree of audiophile sound quality not normally associated with a CD changer - and, of course, the NAD Model 523 represents excellent value for money.
The NAD Model 523 offers all the convenience of a CD changer and more: Its drawer-loading transport accomodates five CDs, making uninterrupted music available for as long as six hours. Whilst playing one disc the listener can open the drawer and replace two discs. The Direct Play facility lets you play a oneoff disc with ease. Fast disc and track access are also notable NAD Model 523 features.
The supplied remote control handset makes changing discs and/or tracks easy with its direct access numeric key-pad from the comfort of your listening chair.
Unlike many multi-disc designs the NAD Model 523's 40 random-access programming and automatic "Shuffle play" features can both operate across all loaded discs.
Besides convenience, ease-of-use and keen pricing, NAD products are also renowned for their sound quality and the NAD Model 523 is no exception: Digital-to-Analogue conversion is handled by a high precision NPC Sigma Delta ( - ) converter which, due to the nature in which it works, is free of all the non-linearity errors which plague so many of the Compact disc players equipped with conventional Multi-Bit converters. The digital filter provides eight times oversampling which, in combination with accurate multi stage analogue filtering keeps the audio band free form interference by spurious ultra sonic by products.
The NAD engineers realised that it is not just the Digital-to Analogue converter which has an impact on the sound quality. Other design aspects such as power supply and analogue stages have been carefully designed as well.
The digital and analogue power supply stages are separated from each other by means of individual low noise regulators to prevent any contamination of the analogue audio signal from the digital section.
High-Grade components such as polypropolene capacitors and high grade 5532 Op-amps have been used, normally found only in more expensive single disc players.
All these measures assure that the NAD Model 523 has almost unequalled sound quality, especially when compared to other CD changers at a similar price. Apart from the sonic advantages, the NAD Model 523 also offers the high level of convenience demanded by todays discerning customer.
