FIELD SERVICE BULLETIN
FSB Number: FSB LVCC2002-0075 Author: Leoncio Ramos Date: October 7,2002 Total No. of page: 2 Subject: SNN5705B / 6mm Battery Model Affected: All V60; T270; T280
Scope
This bulletin details the failure mode, root cause, corrective actions and action required by the field to service customer returns for “Invalid Battery” complaint using SNN5705B.
Background
Service has been made aware of an issue with the SNN5705B battery. Samples received have shown that the battery was not programmed. The phone will display “ invalid battery “ when attempting to charge the battery. LED in DTC flashes red when the battery is insert in the rear pocket.
Root Cause
The battery is not programmed; it missed the blue box test on line. This was due to excessive material accumulation at the electrical test operation. The unit went from cell pack assembly process to the labeling station.
Corrective Action
Production personnel added new blue box tester in order to re-inspect all the packs after the battery is programmed. The personnel were trained on electrical test operation. Only the qualified personnel at electrical test are permitted. Packs cannot be accumulated at the electrical test operation. If there are more than five pieces at electrical test operation the packs will be removed from operation or the line will be stopped. Process flow and line layout was improved in order to prevent material accumulation. Implemented under Corrective Action Report C.C. No. 2002 –04 and 8D Ref.No.020522-05-180
