Does it seem like the world is developing one big “me too” culture? That too many people fall in line with each new pop craze? If you’re one
of the few who dares to be different, you’re in luck. At Mitsubishi Motors, we don’t make bandwagons. We build cars for discerning drivers
who have the confidence to go their own way. And while we’re proud of our automotive heritage, we continue to move forward, pushing the
boundaries of innovation. The fact is, anyone can follow. To lead takes vision and courage. And when you break free from the crowd, you make
one thing undeniably clear: who you are.

DESIGN
PASSION NEVER RESTS
We’re always looking for ways to improve our products. The
2016 Mitsubishi Outlander, for example, received over 100
improvements. And for 2017, we’ve just continued to refine.
More advanced safety features. More convenience features.
More standard equipment. From its eye-catching exterior
and its array of state-of-the-art technology to its thrilling
performance, the 2017 Outlander is the most impressive
CUV we’ve ever built. Then again, when a commitment to
quality meets a tradition of innovation, great things are
bound to happen.

ATTENTION, MEET DETAIL
Outlander presents a wealth of tasteful exterior highlights.
Up front, you’ll find bold LED positioning lights, a handsome
grille, distinctive front bumper and stylish fog light bezels.
In back, you’ll notice LED taillights and a sharp rear garnish.
Along with sporty 18 in. alloy wheels, Outlander features an
aerodynamic shark-fin antenna, available power folding side
mirrors and chrome beltline molding.
FINDING BEAUTY WITHIN
Outlander’s spacious cabin is a study in ergonomic attention.
The many new comfort and convenience highlights for 2017
include a redesigned center console, an available heated
steering wheel, a new electric parking brake switch on all
models with Super All-Wheel Control, and a standard cargo
area 12-volt power outlet. Outlander also offers an available
touchscreen display, compatible with most smartphones, that
lets you use voice commands to access your smartphone’s
native apps, including navigation, maps, music, texts, calls
and more.
RIDE REFINEMENTS
Outlander is undeniably easy on the eyes. With its
extraordinary ride quality, it appeals to your other senses
as well. To reduce ambient noise, the windshield features
sound-dampening acoustic glass. To combat wind noise,
internal body panels are streamlined. And to help soften road
noise and vibration, dynamic dampers muffle suspension
cross members and the rear differential. The large rear shock
absorbers further enhance the experience for everyone inside.
But those behind the wheel have even more to appreciate.
Body and suspension rigidity make for more accurate
handling, and a meticulously calibrated electric power
steering unit delivers precise steering feedback.

ENGINEERING FOR THE ROAD AHEAD
The Outlander is one of the most fuel-efficient standard
7-passenger CUVs in its class.
by engineering a rigid, but lightweight frame that’s not only
easier to move, but also takes better advantage of engine
power by minimizing body flex. Next, we reduced wind
resistance by streamlining the front fascia and the body
panels. And, along with a sleek exterior, we gave Outlander
an advanced ECO Mode feature that helps improve fuel
economy and reduce CO

emissions.

ECO DRIVE SUPPORT SYSTEM
When its ECO mode is engaged, the Outlander helps you
drive in a more environmentally-friendly fashion by slightly
reducing engine power on initial acceleration and the air-flow
volume of the air conditioner. Plus, on vehicles equipped
with Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC), the ECO mode
allows Outlander to function as a 2WD vehicle until sensors
determine that 4WD is necessary. The result is not only better
fuel economy, but also lower CO
emissions.
2
2.4-LITER MIVEC ENGINE
Outlander’s standard 2.4-liter, 166 horsepower aluminumblock 4-cylinder engine features a continuously variable
valve lift system. This advanced technology is called
MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic
Control) and employs a single mechanism to vary the valve
lift and timing for optimum engine “breathing.” The result
is more responsive acceleration, reduced emissions, and
enhanced fuel economy.
3.0-LITER V6 ENGINE
The sporty Outlander GT boasts a 24-valve, 3.0-liter V6
MIVEC engine that produces a full 224 horsepower at 6250
rpm and 215 lb.-ft. of torque at 3750 rpm. This powerful
engine utilizes low viscosity engine oil and iridium spark
plugs to help maximize fuel efficiency. Plus, a refined
6-speed automatic transmission helps deliver improved
torque and fuel efficiency.
CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION
To help enhance shift quality and acceleration, our engineers
developed an efficient Continuously Variable Transmission
(CVT). By delivering more power to the wheels, this advanced
CVT offers better torque performance and efficiency.

REINFORCED IMPACT SAFETY EVOLUTION
RISE engineering helps provide occupant protection in the
event of a collision. RISE combines energy-absorbing front
and rear structures with a rigid occupant cell. Along with
reinforcing bars in the doors and energy-absorbing
materials in the side pillars, the Outlander’s RISE body
features high-tensile strength steel that reduces weight
while helping to protect occupants in the event of a collision.
SEVEN STANDARD AIRBAGS
Outlander’s standard Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)
features seven airbags, including dual-stage front airbags
with a driver’s seat position sensor, driver and passenger
seat-mounted side airbags, side curtain airbags, and a
driver’s knee airbag.
2
LED HEADLIGHTS
When it comes to illumination, available LED headlights and
fog lights are the cutting edge. They enhance your ability to see
potential road hazards or obstructions ahead, and at greater
distances. Plus, LED lights draw less power from the battery
and are generally more reliable than conventional lights.
FORWARD COLLISION MITIGATION
The available Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) system
utilizes both laser radar and camera technology to
determine if a frontal collision with a vehicle or pedestrian
is imminent. If so, it warns the driver with audible and
visual signals, and automatically applies moderate to
emergency braking to reduce the severity of the collision
and, if possible, avoid the collision.

LANE DEPARTURE WARNING
Most traffic accidents are due to driver error or simple
inattention. Outlander’s available Lane Departure Warning

HERITAGE
FOR THREE DECADES,
WE’VE BEEN FINDING OUR OWN LANE
At Mitsubishi Motors, we’re proud to be a part of the
automotive tradition in America. Since the day we sold
our first U.S. vehicle back in 1982, we’ve been committed
to building vehicles that offer a unique blend of style,
durability and performance. Our available Super All-Wheel
Control system is a perfect example of our commitment to
innovation. To this day, it’s one of the most advanced vehicle
dynamics control systems in the segment. Our vehicles are
far more than merely a means of transportation. They are a
moving expression of the driver within.

Page 13
ALL-WHEEL CONTROL
AND SUPER ALL-WHEEL CONTROL
With a long history of all-wheel drive systems, our
road-handling credentials are legendary. Outlander’s
available All-Wheel Control (AWC) system continually
monitors the road, and intelligently transfers power and
braking to the wheels with the most traction to improve
handling and performance without drastically reducing
efficiency. Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC), available on
SE, SEL and standard on GT, is our most advanced form
of vehicle control systems. It’s an integration of several
advanced technologies that together take full advantage
of the engine’s power. The Active Front Differential (AFD)
distributes engine power between left and right on the front
axle. Active Stability Control (ASC) helps keep the vehicle on
its intended path when cornering, and the Anti-lock Braking
System (ABS), along with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution
(EBD), improves control and stability under hard braking.
With the push of a button, the driver can select from four
S-AWC modes to help achieve maximum available traction
regardless of surface conditions. Those modes include
Normal Mode, Snow Mode, Lock Mode and AWC ECO Mode.
NORMAL MODE
Normal Mode is employed to help maximize fuel efficiency
and driving comfort on regular asphalt roads, wet or dry.
SNOW MODE
Snow Mode is engaged on ice and snow, or whenever the road
surface conditions are extremely slippery.
LOCK MODE
Lock Mode locks in full 4-wheel drive capability to help
maximize traction on unpredictable road surfaces.
AWC ECO MODE
AWC ECO Mode helps maximize fuel economy by making more
efficient 2-wheel drive the priority, engaging the 4-wheel
drive only if the wheels begin to slip.
WORLD-CLASS WARRANTIES
What we build, we stand behind. Period. Our vehicles are
backed with a 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited
Warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile fully transferable New
Vehicle Limited Warranty, a 7-year/100,000-mile AntiCorrosion/Perforation Limited Warranty and 5-year/Unlimited
Miles Roadside Assistance. They are some of the most
comprehensive warranties in the industry. Like our cars,
we intend to serve you well for many years to come.

At Mitsubishi Motors, we believe not all drivers are created equal. So we build
our vehicles for a different breed of driver, the fearless ones who take pride in
what they drive, and refuse to drive more of the same. It’s obvious to us that
people who truly want distinctive styling and the latest technology see past the
procession of bland imitations. We believe that every vehicle we make should
stand for something. Something more than expected. And that’s why we don’t
build Mitsubishi cars for stereotypes. We build them for you.
