Overview
The telescopic handler industry is one of the fastest evolving in the Building Construction Products Division. In recent years the Telehandler industry has changed as demand for different size classes of machines has increased. The launch of Cat product offering within both the smaller and larger size classes for Cat
®
of Cat
Telehandlers into different applications, increasing the importance that the machine sold is the correct machine for specific applications. Now, with the launch of the TH514, Caterpillar continue to be an important player in the distribution of telehandlers. The Caterpillar Alliance Group will allow Caterpillar
®
to continue growth in the telehandler market and meet customer requirements
and expectations.
Our strategy recognizes the increasing role of Telehandlers in everyday work, ranging from Construction to Industrial applications. The TH514 provides a rated capacity of 4990 kg (11,000 lb) and a lift height of
13.7 m (45 ft). Caterpillar also offers a wide range of work tools and machine options to fit a variety of applications, duties, climates, and conditions.

will
• Engine — Reliable Cat
®
C4.4 mechanical control engines with excellent power and torque levels.
• Axles — Limited slip differential fitted in the front axle as standard. No interaction is needed from
the operator enabling him to concentrate on his job. Secondly the machines are able to be productive in the toughest working conditions.
• Hydraulics — Great proportional hydraulic control on boom raise/lower, tilt, and telescope gives
a smoother feel and increased boom control. A load sensing variable displacement pump delivers flow on demand, ensuring only the flow rate required reducing both fuel consumption and heat generation. Combined cycle times are superior as a result of the pump's ability for simultaneous movements.
• Auxiliary Hydraulic Controls for Hydraulic Work Tools — The auxiliary functions are controlled
by the joystick to any attachment requiring hydraulic supply for operation.
• Controls — The single joystick with roller switches allows operators to become more proficient
in operation. All controls, including auxiliary hydraulics and stabilizers, are fully proportional.
• Air Conditioning — Air conditioning is available from the factory as an option. The heating,
ventilation and optional air conditioning system supplies numerous ventilation outlets strategically positioned throughout the cab for optimum heating, cooling, de-mist and defrost performance.
• Work Tools — Tools designed and approved for the Cat
®
IT coupler will be available with the new TH514. A selection of buckets, forks, carriages and lifting tools will be available for added versatility.
• Coupler — The high visibility manual IT coupler comes standard on the TH514, allowing the operator to quickly change work tools. The high visibility design offers the operator visibility from the operator station to the right hand fork tip.

Overview
• Optional Hydraulic IT Coupler — Provides exceptional versatility and operator comfort. This option can also be retro-fitted!
• Proportional Auxiliary Hydraulic Control — The joystick operates the hydraulic functions for the use of work tools that require hydraulic flows. The flow is fully adjustable from 0 to 60 L/m (15.85 gal/min). Constant auxiliary hydraulic flow is available for work tools such as augers, sweeper brooms, etc.
• Stabilizers — Standard to provide an increased stability and load carrying capacity. The stabilizers are designed to improve ground clearance and minimize bulldozing effects.
• Frame Leveling — Standard on the TH514. This feature is especially useful when operating in rough, uneven terrain.

Performance
Performance. With its compact dimensions, three steering modes and a tight turning radius, the TH514 provides exceptional mobility and maneuvrability for working in confined spaces like buildings and yards.
The chassis and booms are manufactured from the highest quality steel to ensure long term life and component durability. The chassis and booms are computer aided designed and were subject to rigorous stress analysis, durability and fatigue tests to ensure that the machine meets all application demands and fulfils customer expectations.
Boom. This model features a box section boom constructed of four welded plates. This box section design gives freedom to place material where needed, optimising weight and lift capacity. Also the wear pads are placed in an optimal position with regards to load distribution — resulting in less wear, greater wear pad contact area and less friction.
Chassis. The chassis of the TH514 is the main platform to mount all major components such as engine pod, axles, boom and cab assemblies. The sturdy chassis features composite bearings with a durable bronze alloy design.
This model features a one-piece chassis with side-mounted cabin and side mounted engine. A widespread wheelbase gives outstanding stability in both traveling and lifting operations.
Stabilizers. Stabilizers are standard on the TH514 to provide increased stability and load capacity at reach. The stabilizers are controlled from the joystick: full proportional, independent or simultaneous.
A compensating cylinder is standard. This cylinder keeps the pallet forks or work tools parallel when lifting or lowering the boom.
The TH514 uses two hydraulic cylinders to extend and retract the boom.
