MAMIYA V-Grip User Manual

Improved Ergonomics
Designed for perfect integration with the 645DF camera The Multi Battery Grip excells with all shooting control buttons replicated in exact same positions as on the camera body but now in vertical position. Using custom functions to change the individual button settings will replicate in excact same way on the Vertical grip. Ergonomics are improved by a longer and better grip in both vertical and horizonthal position. The length of the grip gives a really good user experience for photographers with big and small hands. For further ergonomic improvements the Multi Battery Grip comes with a high quality genuine leather hand strap. The leather hand strap is designed to give extra hand support but also works as a safety strap and provides a better grip, without risk of hazardous drops.
Hand Strap
The Multi Battery Grip features a genuine leather Hand Strap. The Hand Strap gives a good support to the wrist, and makes it more easy to hold your camera in a steady position. It also functions as a security strap, giving a much better right hand grip on the camera when working on location or in studio.
Li-ion Batteries
The Multi Battery Grip is conveniently powered by standard digital back rechargeable batteries. Phase One and Leaf batteries vary slightly, but both types will t in the Multi Battery Grip battery compartment. Optionally you can install standard type AA batteries for use as a backup solution. You can switch between the two batteriy types manually.
Wireless Flash
The Multi Battery Grip features, as the rst of its kind, a built in Profoto Air ash trigger. This means that you can now trigger your ash equipment remotely without any use of cables. All Profoto Air equipped generators are supported, and with other ash brands the Profoto Air transceiver can easily be installed in the ash jack socket. Profoto Air system is the only system in the market that supports up to 1/1600s ash synchronization.
The Profoto Air system is operating on one of eight selectable radio channels on the 2.4 GHz radio frequency band, for world wide use

Camera Release button, front and rear buttons position and functions are replicated exactly as on the camera body. A Tripod socket is available for landscape mounting. A genuine leather strap is included, and can be attached in the hand strap mount.

Attachment wheel is located in the centre. This is used to mount the vertical grip underneath the camera body. The Battery select button is used to select between Li-ion batteries “LI+” and standard AA type batteries. Air sync select has two positions “Std” and “Fast”. The speed of the Air sync should only be set to fast if you are working with shutter speeds faster than 1/320s. Be aware that when leaving this button in fast mode, you will shorten the battery lifetime dramatically. Rear dial and AEL button has same function as on the camera body.

AA batteries can be installed as backup in the grip, but be aware that this will increase the total weight of the unit. Firmware update switch is covered by a security label -this switch is only for use if you want to upgrade rmware in the Grip. The tripod screw is used to xate the Multi Battery Grip to the camera. The L-bracket substitute can be removed if you choose to install the L-bracket (install as shown on other side of this paper).

Air sync channel selector is used to select the channel that the Multi Battery Grip uses to communicate with the receiver unit. The channel should be set to the same number on the Multi Battery Grip and the receiver. A battery release clamp is holding the battery in place even when the battery cover is open. To release the battery just slide this gently to the side. USB connector is only for use for future rmware upgrade of either 645 camera or Multi Battery Grip.
Getting Started!
Start by deciding whether or not you want to use the Multi Battery Grip with the included L-Bracket for vertical tripod mount.
Also take into consideration which batteries you want to use (Li - Ion battery and / or 6 pcs. standard AA batteries). Both types can be installed at the same time, but be aware that this will add to the total weight of the unit.
After installation of batteries in the Multi Battery Grip, remove the battery casette from the camera and slide the Multi Battery Grip in place. Finally tighten the attachment wheel to fasten it underneath the camera body. (Fig. 3) Turn on the camera, and you are ready to shoot.
All camera shooting controls are replicated on the grip in their usual positions. On the back of the grip (Fig. 3) there are two additional sliding buttons. One for “Battery select” and one for “Air sync speed select” Battery select will choose between the two types of batteries, whereas the Air sync speed select sets the synchronization speed of the integrated wireless ash trigger. If you are using sync speeds below 1/320s you should set this button to Normal. You should only set the ash sync speed to fast mode if you want to shoot faster than 1/320s. Setting the Air sync speed select to “Fast” will insure correct ash triggering even at fast shutter speeds, but it will decrease the battery lifetime of your camera, and you will need to change batteries more often.
The Profoto Air system is operating on one of eight selectable radio channels on the 2.4 GHz radio band. You will nd an Air sync channel selector under the Li-ion battery cover (Fig. 4). If you are experiencing that your ash sync is behaving erratically you can try selecting another channel. Remember you need to set both the Multi Battery Grip and the receiver to the same channel.
