ASK-4® Kit #200 is a single zone audio monitoring system designed to connect directly to a CCTV
video monitor with built-in amplifier and speaker. Model MA-1 Interface Adapter supplies power to
the microphone and drives the microphone signals into the TV monitor. Microphone is omni­directional and picks up normal sounds 15’ away, all directions or within a 30’ circle.

MICROPHONE INSTALLATION - MECHANICAL

Model A Microphone is designed for surface mounting to a ceiling or wall. It will pick up normal sounds
approximately 15’ away from all directions. For best results, install microphone close to desired area of
coverage. Avoid mounting to ceiling heights in excess of 10’, or near air vents, fans or other audio
interferences.

NOTE: Make wiring connection on backside of microphone before installing microphone to ceiling
or wall.

MICROPHONE INSTALLATION - ELECTRICAL

Located on back side of microphone is a terminal block marked A, B and C.

A is 12 Vdc (Red)
B is Audio (Black)
C is Ground (common) (Bare)

Using recommended wiring, connect as follows:

RED wire to terminal A (12Vdc)
BLACK wire to terminal B (Audio)
BARE wire to terminal C (Ground)

color code may vary.

MECHANICAL INSTALLATION - MODEL MA-1 INTERFACE ADAPTER

The MA-1 Interface Adapter serves as an interface device between the microphone and the CCTV monitor
with audio amplifier. It supplies power to the microphone and drives the audio signals into the monitor’s
audio amplifier. The MA-1 can be installed several ways:

1) Wall mounted close to CCTV monitor

2) Attached to side of the CCTV monitor using double sided adhesive tape, ¼” thickness

MICROPHONE CONNECTION TO MA-1 INTERFACE ADAPTER

1) MA-1 contains a terminal block marked A, B, C.

2) Bring wiring from microphone to MA-1 and make cable connection matching A with A, B with B and C with
C.

3) Connect Model AD-1 Power Supply (provided) into 12 Vdc jack on MA-1 and other end to standard 110 ­120 Vac electric outlet. This will power up the microphone.

CONNECTION BETWEEN MA-1 INTERFACE ADAPTER AND CCTV MONITOR AND DVR/VCR

1) Connect the single RCA cable (provided) to “MONITOR OUT” of MA-1 and to “AUDIO IN” of the CCTV
monitor.

2) The two RCA jacks located on MA-1 marked “AUDIO IN” and “AUDIO OUT” are for connection to a
DVR/VCR.

3) Using provided dual RCA cable, connect “AUDIO OUT” of MA-1 to “AUDIO IN” of DVR/VCR.

4) Connect “AUDIO IN” of MA-1 to “AUDIO OUT” of DVR/VCR.

NOTE: If DVR has its own playback capabilities, skip step 4.

RECORDING AND PLAYBACK PROCEDURES

The “VCR” switch on the MA-1 has two positions - RECORD and PLAYBACK.

1) For audio monitoring and/or recording, move switch to RECORD position.

2) For monitoring audio playback from DVR/VCR, move switch to PLAYBACK position.

Installation is now complete. For testing, a brief recording should be made and played back through the
CCTV monitor.

MICROPHONE SENSITIVITY SWITCH

The microphone pre-amp (PC board) contains a sensitivity
switch with two positions marked N and L, and is located on the
back side of the Model A near the terminal block:

N represents normal sensitivity

Microphone is always shipped in the N position. For less
microphone sensitivity, move slide switch to L position. Do not

change unless required.

given notice of AUDIO MONITORING ON THE
PREMISES. A decal notice is included with each
microphone shipped.

LOUROE ELECTRONICS warrants that at the time of shipment products manufactured by LOUROE ELECTRONICS to be free of defects in material and workmanship.
Should a defect appear within one year (12 months) from date of shipment, LOUROE ELECTRONICS will, at its sole discretion, repair or replace the defective equipment.
This equipment shall not be accepted for repair or return without prior notification by LOUROE ELECTRONICS .

This warranty does not extend to any Louroe product that has been subjected to improper or incorrect installation, misuse, accident, or in violation of installation
instructions provided by LOUROE ELECTRONICS.

Returned shipments to LOUROE ELECTRONICS shall be at customer’s expense. LOUROE ELECTRONICS will return the equipment prepaid via best way.
