Based on a new generation high-performance VIA VX900
chipset the FW-6436 offers a compact and convenient
system for secured data exchange and media services.
The chipset integrates the high-performance VIA
ChromotionHD 2.0 video processor, offering advanced
filtering and cutting edge post-processing to perform
ultra smooth decoding of MPEG-4, H.264, MPEG-2, and
VC-1.
Furthermore, you can take advantage of the integrated
security engines to the CPU to increase system
performance and throughput when doing the following
secure computations:
Secure Hash Algorithm•–SHA-1 & SHA-256 and AES
Encryption
RSA Public key algorithm•–the security engine can
accelerate public key generation enabling up to 900
signings of RSA 1024-bit per second.
Random number generation•–the engine can produce
truly random numbers at a sustained rate of 12 million
per second.
Prevention of worm executing and spreading during •
system run-time
The system also supports a variety of I/O interfaces
including 4 Gigabit Ethernet, 2 USB and 2 PCI expansion

A hardware (default) or a software reset switch. You will need to set it to either hardware or software reset in the BIOS.

It is a console port via RJ45 connector. Using suitable RS-232 cable, you can connect an appropriate device, for example,
a terminal console for diagnostics.
Terminal Configuration Parameters: 115200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit , no flow control.

The Gigabit Ethernet ports are provided by Realtek RTL8111E-GR Integrated 10/100/1000 Ultra Gigabit Ethernet
Transceiver through the PCI-e interface. They support both Wake-on-LAN and remote wake-up. They also support the
IEEE 802 IP Layer 2 priority encoding and IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging.

Hardware Setup
Preparing the Hardware Installation
To access some components and perform certain service
procedures, you must perform the following procedures
first.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury,
electric shock, or damage to the equipment,
remove the power cord to remove power from the
server. The front panel Power On/Standby button
(if there is one) does not completely shut off
system power. Portions of the power supply and
some internal circuitry remain active until power
supply is removed.
1.
Unpower the FW-6436 and remove the power cord.
Unscrew 2 screws from the two sides and two screws 2.
on the back of the top cover of the FW-6436 System.
Installing the Hard Disk
The system can accommodate one Serial-ATA disk (2.5” or
3.5”). Follow these steps to install a hard disk into the FW7565:
Unscrew the 4 screws on the hard disk tray to take out 1.
the hard disk tray from the system.
Place hard disk on the hard disk tray and align the holes 2.
of the hard disk with the mounting holes on the tray.
Secure the hard disk with 4 mounting screws on the 3.

Installing the System Memory
The motherboard supports DDR2 memory that features
data transfer rates of 800 or 1066 MHz to meet the higher
bandwidth requirements of the latest operating system
and Internet applications. It comes with one DoubleData-Rate Three (DDR3) Small Outline Dual Inline Memory
Modules (SO-DIMM) socket.
Installing a CompactFlash Card
FW-6436 provides one CompactFlash slot slot. Follow the
procedures bellow too install a CompactFlash card.
Align CompactFlash card and the card slot with the 1.

LAN Adapters Driver Installation
This section provides the instructions on how to install
Realtek® Gigabit LAN adapter drivers.
Windows Operating systems
To install the Realtek® Gigabit LAN controller driver on a
Windows Operating System:
Restart the computer, and then log on with 1.
Administrator privileges.
Insert the Drivers and User’s Manual CD to the USB-2.
Optical drive.
Browse the contents of the Drivers and User’s Manual 3.
CD to locate the file SETUP.EXE from the \Driver\
RTL8111_Driver folder. Double-click the SETUP.EXE

Driver Installation
Linux
Follow these instructions to install the Realtek® LAN
controller base driver for the Red Hat® and Linux operating
system.
Insert the Drivers and User’s Manual CD to the USB-1.
Optical drive and mount the optional drive in the
Linux platform.
Copy the archive driver in BZ2 file from the Drivers and 2.
User’s Manual CD to the directory of your local hard
disk. The Realtek® LAN driver for Linux OS is located in
the following directory:
\Driver\RTL8111_Driver\LINUX. The name format of
driver file is “r8168-<Version>.tar.bz2”.
Untar/unzip the archive file:3.
tar xvfj <driver-file-in>.tar.bz2
Compile the driver module by typing the following 4.
command:
make install
The binary will be installed as:5.
/lib/modules/<kernel_version>/kernel/drivers/net/
The install locations listed above are the default
locations. They might not be correct for certain Linux
distributions.
Chipset Platform Driver Installation
The VIA chipset drivers help increase the stability and
performance of the system with VIA chipsets as well as
tools which are useful for advanced configurations. These
drivers include IDE Device driver, AGP Driver, RAID Driver
and Raid Tools, and so on.
