Measures against the drum pin
holes

The calibration at toner near end was abolished since it increased the
aging time which caused excess charge to toner if the calibration at
toner near end was executed every time after recovery from the sleep
mode.

The main charger roller absorbs moisture and excess current flows
where the drum refresh mode is required due to high humidity and it
might cause drum pin holes. Therefore, 500V of the main charge
voltage (Vpp) is now applied at drum refresh in order to give off water
vapor.

Measures against the low image
density

(Decrease of the developing
drive time at warm-up)

The developer drive time was shortened as follows as the corrective
measures for the low image density.

- The developer motor will be turned OFF after completing the main

charge adjustment when warming up at power-up and recovering from
the sleep mode. (Currently, it is driven until the fuser temperature
reaches “Ready” temperature.)

Measures against the automatic
restore error of the BW mode at
color toner empty

The BW mode should be normally cancelled after all empty color toner
containers were replaced and toners were refilled. However, the BW
mode might continue even thereafter. Therefore, the following change
was made.

If the BW mode is not cancelled when the color toners are recovered
from empty status after the toner container replacement was detected
and the toners were refilled, the engine firmware will issue a retry
request to cancel the BW mode.
