Field Measures: (-->)
Please replace the LEVER INTERLOCK with the new one (No.1) when the phenomenon described below
occurs.
(Note1) Please refer to another document [Procedure for replacing with the corrective parts] (File name is
“Procedure_D012_2KT_0019_E”) for the procedure how to replace the parts.
(Note2) Along with this replacement, the replacement of the other corrective parts in the related sections is
recommended. For more details, please refer to another Service Bulletin SB-2KT-0019-D012.
Serial Nos. of the Affected Machines: Please refer to (-->) the following pages.

This time, the description with (-->) was revised from the previous information.
<Number of changes: 5> The content according to supply of the countermeasure parts was added and revised.
To be informed:
To several issues, we have created a modification kit containing the parts in the <Table.2>.
The Item code of each modification kit is described in the <Table.3>. (Each country has a different item code!)
All latest hardware updates since January are implemented in this kit.
For more details, please refer to the Service Bulletin SB-2KT-0019-D012.
We do not recommend ordering the modification kit in every case, but the price for the kit will be lower than the
parts ordered separately ,which makes the purchase more convenient.

Topic
In a rare case, the message “The cover is opened” is displayed due to misdetection of the REAR COVER opening
when slowly closing the TOP COVER while REAR COVER was closed. Therefore, the shape of the LEVER
INTERLOCK was partly changed in order to improve its switching motion of the detection switch for the REAR
COVER opening/closing.
Content of Changes
Depending on the location (X in the figure below) of the rear edge (A) of the LEVER INTERLOCK against the
protrusion of the REAR COVER and how to close the TOP COVER, the rear edge (A) might slip under the
protrusion of the REAR COVER. As a result, the front side (B) cannot press down the detection switch for the
REAR COVER opening/closing due to the upward rotation failure of the LEVER.
Therefore, the rib was added to the rear edge (A) of the LEVER in order to secure the margin for the inroad.
(The photo below shows the rear of the
main unit viewed from the right side.)

(Revised Issue 1) (Page 4/5)
(X)
If the rear edge (A) of LEVER slips under the
protrusion of REAR COVER, the front edge (B)
of LEVER does not press down the detection
switch due to the rotation failure and “The
cover is opened” is mistakenly displayed.
The front edge (B) of LEVER can press down the
detection switch by the normal rotation of LEVER
INTERLOCK with the rib.
The detection switch is turned ON (REAR COVER
CLOSE detection) when the rack connecting with
TOP COVER slides to press down the front edge (B)
of LEVER.
At this time, the rear edge (A) is normally rotated
upwards and is located higher than the protrusion.
However, in a rare case, the rear edge (A) may slip
under the protrusion, and the detection switch is
turned OFF (REAR COVER OPEN detection) since
the front edge (B) cannot press down the detection
switch.
