1. Read all instructions prior to first use.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
3. To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs or machine in water or other liquid.
4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children. Keep appliance out of reach of children.
5. This appliance is not designed to be used by children or people without knowledge or experience with the product, unless they are supervised or given prior instructions concerning the use of the appliance by someone responsible for their safety.
6. Burns can occur from touching hot plate, hot water or steam. Exercise caution.
7. Unplug machine from outlet as soon as you stop using it over a prolonged period and when you clean it. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, before cleaning the machine and before storing.
8. All machines are subject to stringent quality control. Practical tests using machines taken at random are conducted and this may explain any slight marks or coffee residue showing prior to use.
9. Do not operate any machine with a damaged cord or plug or after the machine malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return machine to the KRUPS Service Center for examination, repair or adjustment.
10. To reduce the risk of injury do not drape cord over the counter top or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.
11. Do not let cord touch hot surfaces.
12. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by KRUPS may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
13. Do not use outdoors.
14. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
15. To disconnect the machine remove plug from wall outlet. Do not yank cord, instead grasp plug and pull to disconnect.

SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS
A.We do not recommend using an extension cord with this device. A short power
cord or a detachable power cord is provided to reduce the risks of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord accidentally.
B.If an extension cord is absolutely necessary,
1) the marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great
as the electrical rating of the machine,
2) the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter
top or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
C.This machine has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce
the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
In the interest of improving products, Krups reserves the right to change specifications without prior notice.
A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord.

DESCRIPTION
BEFORE THE FIRST USE
Remove all packaging.
Before using your coffeemaker for the first time or if you have not used it for some time, rinse the
machine by running a brew cycle.
Follow the procedure for making coffee below, but without putting ground coffee or paper filter or permanent mesh filter.
MAKING COFFEE
(Follow the illustrations 1 to 9)
1. Open the top lid by pressing the Water reservoir release button (d) and fill the Water tank (g) with cold
water taking careful note of the number of cups using the Water level indicator (f) as a guide Fig.1, 2, 3.
Note:
- Your coffeemaker features a quick refill cap on the top of the unit. Simply twist the cap to unlock and fill with the required amount of water using the Water level indicator (f) as a guide.
2. Press the Coffee filter release button (c) to open the filter compartment. Add paper or permanent filter
to the brew basket Fig. 4 and 5.
3. Add ground coffee to the basket or to the Permanent filter (k) Fig. 6. Note: We suggest around 2 ounces for 10 cups.
4. Close the compartment, ensure the filter compartment is closed and latched properly, otherwise the
machine will not function correctly Fig. 7.
5. Insert the Thermal carafe (h) after prewarming it by rinsing it with hot water (prewarming the carafe will help keeping coffee hotter), then securely place it on the base recess (no hot plate) .
Note: Ensure the carafe lid is fully closed by turning the Lid lock (i) clockwise, this ensures the maximum
temperature is maintained in the carafe Fig. 8.
Note: Please note the carefe lid must be in place during the brewing process; otherwise the non-drip
valve will not open, causing the filter to flood.
6. Press the Classic coffee button (a). The relevant button will illuminate Fig. 9.
Note: When the brewing process is complete, the power light switches off, while the internal water tank
illumination stays on. We recommend you switch off your coffee maker as soon as brewing is complete.
Note: The thermal carafe will keep the coffee warm in the jug for up to four hours. Note: The anti drip valve will prevent any remaining coffee dripping onto the base recess during serving.

Follow the directions for MAKING COFFEE until step 6.
Press Aroma coffee button (b) to select a stronger strength of brew. The relevant button will illuminate.
Fig. 10.

Note: Do not clean the coffee machine when it is hot.
Note: Never immerse the coffee machine in water or put it under running water.
Note: Rinse the water tank occasionally with cold water. Do not use a cloth, as any residue or lint left
behind may clog the coffee maker.
Press the Coffee filter release button (c) to open the filter compartment Fig. 4, remove the Paper or
the Permanent filter (k). Discard the used coffee grinds and wash the Permanent filter (k) with warm soapy water.
We recommend washing carafes by hand in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry all parts thoroughly.
Caution: The thermal carafe inner part is made with glass. Clean the carafe carefully to avoid any risk of breaking the inner glass part.
Note: The carafe is NOT dishwasher safe.
Clean the body of the coffee machine with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
Note: Care must be taken to ensure the non drip valve situated on the bottom of the filter holder is not
damaged during cleaning.
Note: Do not use scouring agents or harsh cleansers on any part of the coffee machine.

DESCALING
Descaling is necessary to keep your coffee machine running efficiently. Descale your machine regularly
using Krups descaling kits (model F054), available from Krups authorized service centers or on www.krups.com. The frequency of descaling depends on the hardness of your water and how often you use the coffee machine.
If you notice the brew cycle has slowed it is generally time to descale the machine.
Before descaling, remove the paper filter or permanent mesh filter
You may use either the Krups descaling solution diluted in 16 ounces of water or 8 ounces of white vinegar.
Pour the solution or vinegar into the water reservoir and start the coffee machine (without coffee).
Allow half the liquid to run into the carafe, then switch the machine off and let stand for 1 hour.
Restart the coffee machine to complete the cycle.
Rinse the coffee machine by running it through 2 full cycles with water only.
Any other servicing should be performed by authorised service representative.
TROUBLESHOOTING
