Expanded Memory Unit

Before installing, be sure to unplug the power cord of the machine.
Keep all packing materials out of the reach of children.

Unpacking the Expanded Memory Unit
1. Check that the following accessories are available in the box.

2. Remove the expanded memory from its insulation bag.
NOTES
The expanded memory is highly susceptible to static electricity. Before touching the expanded memory be sure to touch a metal object to discharge any static elec­tricity from your body and clothes.
NEVER touch any pins or other parts of the circuit board when removing the expanded memory from the insulation bag or inserting it into the socket.
Installing the Expanded Memory
1. Turn off the machine and unplug the power cord from the machine.
2. Remove the lower rear cover (seven screws).

3. Remove the upper rear cover (five screws).

4. Open the right door and remove the right rear cover (four screws).

5. Remove the shield cover (twelve screws).

6. Open the tabs of the slot “FILE 1” of the control board assy.
7. Making sure of the correct orientation of the expanded memory, insert the memory into the slot of the control board.
NOTE Push the expanded memory all the way into position until the tabs on both sides of the slot fit into the cutouts in the expanded memory.
8. Reinstall the shield cover (twelve screws).
9. Reinstall the right rear cover (four screws).
10. Reinstall the upper rear cover (five screws).
11. Reinstall the lower rear cover (seven screws).
Check after the Expanded Memory Has Been Installed
1. Plug the power cord into the machine and turn on the machine.
2. Display the Tech. Rep. Mode screen. (For details of how to display the Tech. Rep. Mode screen, see the Service Manual.)

3. Touch “State Confirm.”
4. Touch “Option Check.”
5. Check that “512M” is displayed beside “Copier.”
6. Touch “END.”
7. Touch “Fin. Time” on the Tech. Rep. Mode screen.
