IMPORTANT! In areas with freezing temperatures, install on an
interior wall. If installed on an exterior wall, provide adequate insulation to prevent the possibility of freezing.
NOTE: If 2x6 framing is used, the drain outlet may be angled 45 degrees in either direction.
NOTE: This product is not intended to be used as a retrofit device for 1.28 gpf (4.8 lpf) water closets.
Only bowl model K-76395 is compatible with this carrier. During installation, make sure the inlet tube connections and
gaskets remain fully engaged to ensure a watertight seal. Observe all local plumbing and building codes.

1. Install the Framing
IMPORTANT! The waste outlet location is critical. Use the correct dimension (shown above) from the front edge of the framing to the center of the waste outlet for your installation.
NOTE: The waste outlet pipe may need to be relocated for this installation.
NOTE: A PVC elbow is supplied with this product. A cast iron elbow may be required by codes in some areas. The height of the toilet drain pipe may need to be adjusted if the cast iron elbow is used.
NOTE: Double studs must be used on either side of the stud pocket.
Construct the stud pocket according to the dimensions shown.

Install the Framing (cont.)
Locate the center of the waste outlet from the front edge of the framing to the dimension shown for your installation.
Waste Pipe Installation Options:
NOTE: These installation options are suggestions. Follow all applicable codes in your area.
4Diameter PVC
Install the supplied rubber, ribbed adapter onto carrier’s PVC elbow and insert it into the 4PVC waste outlet pipe.
The waste outlet pipe height must be sufficient to allow rubber ribbed adapter to be fully inserted into waste outlet pipe.
NOTE: The 4PVC waste outlet pipe is wider than the stud pocket in a 2x4 installation requiring that the wall material be carved out on both sides of the installation wall to fit waste pipe.
3Diameter PVC
Couple to carrier’s PVC elbow using flexible coupler or a glued PVC coupler.
NOTE: PVC or flexible coupler may be wider than stud pocket in a 2x4 installation, requiring the wall material be carved out on both sides of the installation wall to fit coupler.
Cast Iron Waste Outlet
The cast iron outlet must be installed as required by local codes. Use the KOHLER cast iron outlet specified on the specification sheet.
The recommended cast iron waste pipe will center 2-7/8(73 mm) from the front of the frame.
NOTE: The cast iron waste pipe will not be centered inside 2x4 framing and will protrude beyond the back of the stud pocket. 2x6 framing or a chase behind 2x4 framing is required for cast iron outlets.

2. Prepare the Carrier
Position the carrier face down on the floor. Using a hex wrench, loosen the nuts securing the legs to the
carrier. Raise the carrier 8(203 mm) - 10(254 mm) high to allow access
to the feet. Tighten the nuts securing the legs to the carrier.

4. Adjust the Carrier Height
IMPORTANT! If the carrier is not correctly adjusted, the bowl rim height may not be compliant with applicable codes.
X
NOTE: The minimum rim height is 15(381 mm). The maximum rim height is 23(584 mm). The carrier can be adjusted up to 8(203 mm), with 6(152 mm) or less of adjustment sufficient in most installations.
Move the carrier into place in the stud pocket. Align the carrier flush with the front edge of the studs. The front
of the carrier should be flush with the front edge of the studs or set back slightly for finished wall installation.
Check the front of the carrier for plumb. Temporarily secure the carrier in place so it will not fall. Install the threaded rods several turns into the carrier. Make a mark on the carrier 2-5/8(67 mm) above the top of the
threaded rod. Measure from the finished floor to the mark (X) to determine the
rim height of the bowl.

Adjust the Carrier Height (cont.)
To adjust the carrier to the desired height, loosen the nuts securing the legs to the carrier.
NOTE: As the carrier is lowered, make sure the elbow and gasket (if present) align with the floor drain pipe.
Adjust the carrier until the desired height is reached. Securely tighten the nuts using a wrench to secure the legs in place.
NOTE: If a cast iron elbow is required, make the connections following all applicable codes.

Lag Bolts
5. Install the Carrier
IMPORTANT! It may be difficult to drill pilot holes for the feet lag bolts if your carrier has been adjusted to a low height. If there is not enough room to drill the pilot holes, mark their location and temporarily remove the carrier to drill them.
Mark the hole locations for the eight lag bolts, one for each foot and three on either side of the carrier.
Drill pilot holes (remove the carrier if needed) for the lag bolts.
NOTE: If the carrier is installed onto a concrete subfloor use concrete expansion bolts (not supplied) when securing the feet of the carrier.
Secure the carrier to the support studs using minimum 3/8’’ x 2-1/2’’ (64 mm) long lag bolts and washers (not supplied), one at each location.

Care and Cleaning (cont.)
For best results, keep the following in mind when caring for your KOHLER product:
Always test your cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area before applying to the entire surface.
Wipe surfaces clean and rinse completely with water immediately after applying cleaner. Rinse and dry any overspray that lands on nearby surfaces.
Do not allow cleaners to soak on surfaces.
Use a soft, dampened sponge or cloth. Never use an abrasive material such as a brush or scouring pad to clean surfaces.
For Artist Edition Toilets: Treat your decorative product just as you would treat your fine china. DO NOT use bristle brushes or abrasive-backed sponges. They will scratch decorative surfaces. Use only warm water to clean. Dry with a cotton cloth or soft sponge.
