Important uninstallation information

IMPORTANT: If a LEXMARK Z22 or LEXMARK Z32 Color Jetprinter is, or has ever been connected to your PC, you must first uninstall it from your PC before installing the KODAK Personal Picture Maker 215.
To uninstall the LEXMARK Z22 or LEXMARK Z32 Color Jetprinter:
1. Disconnect the LEXMARK Z22 or LEXMARK Z32 Color Jetprinter cable.
2. Uninstall the printer driver (follow the instructions below according to your operating system).
In WINDOWS 95/98/ME:
1. From the Start menu, select Programs.
2. Select Lexmark Z22 Series or Lexmark Z32 Series.
3. Select Lexmark Z22 Series Uninstall or Lexmark Z32 Series Uninstall.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
5. Close any open applications and restart the PC.
In WINDOWS 2000/XP:
1. In WINDOWS 2000; from the Start menu, select Settings, then Printers. In WINDOWS XP; from the Start menu select Printers and Faxes.
2. Right-click on the LEXMARK Z22 OR LEXMARK Z32 icon, then select Delete.
3. When the message window appears to verify the removal of the printer, click Yes.
The printer icon disappears and a dialog box appears to report that the printer has been successfully removed.
4. Close any open applications and restart the PC.

Important installation information

To install the KODAK Personal Picture Maker 215, follow the instructions on the setup sheet, or refer to the User’s Guide located on the Printer Software CD included with the printer.
IMPORTANT: During the installation process, be sure to select the proper ink cartridges (color, photo, or black) for the left and right slots when the cartridge maintenance window appears.
If prompted with a Digital Signature or Hardware Installation message regarding Microsoft testing or compatibility, click Yes or Continue Anyway, as appropriate.
ATTENTION WINDOWS XP USERS:
When connecting the KODAK Personal Picture Maker 215 printer cable to the PC, WINDOWS XP will detect hardware for a LEXMARK Z32 Color Jetprinter. Ignore this message and close the dialog box. Proceed with installing the KODAK Personal Picture Maker 215 software as usual.

Tips for making great prints

To get the most out of creating professional looking pictures, here are a couple tips to consider:
Periodic cleaning of the print nozzles and alignment of the ink
cartridges is essential to producing clean, sharp prints. It is especially important after installing or changing cartridges, or after long periods of non-use. The cartridge maintenance utility for the KODAK Personal Picture Maker 215 allows you to install or change print cartridges, clean the print nozzles, align the cartridges, and even order supplies on-line.
In WINDOWS 95/98/ME:
1. From the Start menu, double-click on the KODAK Personal

3. Select the feature you wish to use.

1. In WINDOWS 2000; from the Start menu, select Settings, then Printers. In WINDOWS XP; from the Start menu select Printers and Faxes.
2. Right-click on the KODAK Personal Picture Maker 215 icon, then select Properties.
The KODAK Personal Picture Maker 215 Properties window appears.
3. Click on the Cartridge Maintenance tab.
4. Select the feature you wish to use.
For the best photo-quality prints, always use KODAK Premium
Picture Paper or KODAK Ultima Picture Paper. Also, be sure the Printer Driver settings are configured for optimum image quality.
In WINDOWS 95/98/ME:
1. From the Start menu, select Settings, then Printers.
2. Right-click on the KODAK Personal Picture Maker 215 icon, then select Properties.
The KODAK Personal Picture Maker 215 Properties window appears.
3. Click on the Document/Quality tab.
4. For Paper Type, select Kodak Premium Picture Paper (this also applies when using Ultima Picture Paper).
5. Set Print Quality to High.
6. Click on the Apply button, then click the OK button to exit the Properties window.
In WINDOWS 2000/XP:
1. In WINDOWS 2000; from the Start menu, select Settings, then Printers. In WINDOWS XP; from the Start menu select Printers and Faxes.
2. Right-click on the KODAK Personal Picture Maker 215 icon, then select Printing Preferences.
The KODAK Personal Picture Maker 215 Printing Preferences window appears.
3. Click on the Paper/Quality tab.
4. For Media Selection, select Kodak Premium Picture Paper.
5. For Quality Setting, choose Best.
6. Click on the Advanced button.
The KODAK Personal Picture Maker 215 Advanced Options window appears.

7. Under Document Options—Printer, make sure that Color Intent is set to Natural. If it is not set to Natural, click on the current selection to open up a drop-down menu, and change it.
8. Click on the OK button to exit the Advanced Options window.
9. Click on the Apply button, then click the OK button to exit the Printing Preferences window.

Statement of Limited Warranty
This warranty applies to the United States and Canada. For customers outside the U.S. and Canada, refer to the country­specific warranty information that came with your printer.
KODAK Personal Picture Maker 215 This Statement of Limited Warranty
applies to this product if it was originally purchased for your use, and not for resale, from Kodak or a Kodak remarketer.
Warranty
Kodak warrants that this product:
• Is manufactured from new parts, or new and serviceable used parts, which perform like new parts,
• Is free from defects in material and workmanship,
• Conforms to Kodak's official published specifications, and
• Is in good working order.
If this product does not function as warranted during the warranty period, contact a Remarketer or Kodak for repair without charge.
If you transfer this product to another user, warranty service under the terms of this statement is available to that user for the remainder of the warranty period. You should transfer proof of original purchase and this statement to that user.
Warranty service
The warranty period is 12 months and starts on the date of original purchase as shown on the purchase receipt.
To obtain warranty service you may be required to present proof of original purchase. Warranty service will be provided at a Kodak designated location.
When warranty service involves the
exchange of a product or part, the item replaced becomes the property of the Remarketer or Kodak. The replacement may be a new or repaired item. The replacement item assumes the remaining warranty period of the original product.
Replacement is not available to you if the product you present for exchange is defaced, altered, in need of a repair not included in warranty service, or damaged beyond repair. Also, such product must be free of any legal obligation or restrictions that prevent its exchange.
For further explanation of your warranty alternatives and the nearest Kodak authorized servicer in your area, please call 1-877-774-6837.
Free remote technical support is provided for this product throughout its warranty period. Kodak offers a variety of extended warranty programs that include an extension of technical support. For products no longer covered by a Kodak warranty, technical support may only be available for a fee.
Extent of warranty
Kodak does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of a product.
Warranty service does not include repair of failures caused by:
• Modification or attachments
• Accidents or misuse
• Unsuitable physical or operating environment
• Maintenance by anyone other than Kodak or a Kodak authorized servicer
• Operation of a product beyond the limit of its duty cycle
• Failure to have installed a maintenance kit as specified (if applicable)
• Use of printing media outside of Kodak's published specifications
• Use of other than Kodak's inkjet cartridges manufactured by Lexmark
• Use of other than Kodak provided

ALL EXPRESS AND IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE WARRANTY PERIOD. NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WILL APPLY AFTER THIS PERIOD. KODAK DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED.
Limitation of liability
Your sole remedy under this Statement of Limited Warranty is set forth in this section. For any claim concerning performance or nonperformance of Kodak or a Remarketer for this product under this Statement of Limited Warranty, you may recover actual damages up to the limit set forth in the following paragraph.
Kodak's liability for actual damages from any cause whatsoever will be limited to the greater of 1) $5,000 or 2) the amount you paid for the product that caused the damages. This limitation of liability will not apply to claims by you for bodily injury or damage to real property or tangible personal property for which Kodak is legally liable. IN NO EVENT WILL
KODAK OR REMARKETER BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOST PROFITS, LOST SAVINGS, INDIRECT OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, OR OTHER ECONOMIC CONSEQENTIAL DAMAGES. This is
true even if you advise Kodak or a Remarketer of the possibility of such damages. Kodak is not liable for any claim by you based on a third party claim.
This limitation of remedies also applies to any developer of materials supplied to Kodak. Kodak's and the developer's limitations of remedies are not cumulative. Such developer is an intended beneficiary of this limitation.
